I just wanted to say Thankyou to GavDunn for setting your event defence low with Beast Eddie alone!
I'll add trooper names to this as I go but it is much appreciated!
I have set mine as a random 3* Mummy Eddie, smash him, kill him quick! All please take advantage, the quicker you do me in the sooner I can reach my target, and everybody wins!

Had mine set pretty low with just my Samurai Eddie, but decided to set it lower to a dupe 4* lvl 1 Tailgunner. Also got a low defence on Sniper too.
Can't remember which people I battled with low defences, but thank you to all who have! It makes it so much easier for us all to benefit from the rewards!

I also set my defense to just my Wickerman Eddie. A few that I just battled with low defenses are Connewitz, OLL777, Kmadd69, ExoDefense, and Greyhamme. A big Thank You to them and the others that have been kind enough to follow suit. Unfortunately, it seems like not many are doing the same, making this event more of a chore than it has to be.

I've been switching mine up between the Eddies I never use, what confuses me is the guy who has 1 eddie on defense but he has every top grade talisman in him, what's the point of having a weak defense with a super powerful eddie.

I guess this is lazyness, if it is his/her normal defense Eddie and just the allies were removed. Or its a kind of trick or treat if you go too low with your attack team against it. This would allow one more revenge. But keep in mind you can only revenge the same player 2 times and 20 in total per day anyway!

Yes, sometimes the algorithm doesn't work properly and you only get top ranked players. I had the same too. Normally, after you do the next list refresh it should be different - but no guarantee!

Sadly, those are on the Defence Team so I can't refresh and need to wait 'till Tomorrow.
But on the Attack Team, it's worse : I have to face Players who have 2 or 3k points more than Me.

As soon as you lose one battle refresh your list and you'll get lower opponents; usually at least a few with less points than you and the rest will be on a similar level.

Managed to hit 150 battles, so I think that's me done for today, though I doubt I'll be able to reach 300. Defence will stay low as always though.

Nope, not at all! Do what works best for you man. I find that I enjoy the game a lot more when I'm not stressing out about a top finish, so I've been using a lone Coalgiver for months, even when there is no Arena event.

It's really all about how MUCH you fight.

If you are refilling and refilling and refilling to fight, then yeah, lower defenses help you as well as others. If, you are just treating things normally and fighting when you have SOW.. and coming across 1 in 15 matches with a lower defense, then lowering your own defense seems a bit silly.

I've run across a handful of weak defenses and that's it. Seriously, less than 10 out of 150 fights. 90% of my fights are against full defenses. So, should I make it easy on the folks just trolling the revenge list??? :)

I jsut leave my defense as it's been for a while now. It's not unbeatable, but it's not an auto-play fight either. I also pretty much never "revenge". So... I earn my rewards :)

You're right Blade it's not cool! But when I'm close to the goal I'm close to the goal, When I started the thread I had not expected to have had the time to play as much arena as I have with work and life commitments etc

Regarding the small number of low defence teams say in the top 50 there just isn't many, I wonder what the percentage of top 50 teams are active on the forums though, I wonder how many non forum players scratch their heads about all the low defence teams when they come across them during arena events... I used to in pre forum days...

I rarely look at the revenge list. If I do at all it's because the ATK list has 1 team left I've lost to twice already, no free refill, and I need 10 more FC for a relic, -- that sort of thing. But I don't "farm" the revenge list at all.

I used to wonder about the single Eddie defenses.. then I realized it's merely a method to keep your numbers lower so that you fight teams you can beat easier.... no fun in that. Truth of the matter is.. I get just as many points when someone loses to my defense as I do if I win when attacking them.. I've gained rank due to my defense.... so...... :)

I was surprised and disappointed at the "brotherhood" on this forum. I've come across about 50% of forum and my Troopers that do not have "easy" defenses up. I completely understand if you want to keep your rank, but just keep in mind that some of those "wins" are coming from those "easy" defenses because I'm sure those defenses are not being skipped over. I'm sitting at about 160 wins now. Hope to make it to 300, then done.

Yeah, thank you to everyone who is running a weak defence. Every time I see that, especially from strong players, I am reminded how many Maiden fans are downright decent blokes. I play World of Tanks Blitz too and that player base is so toxic, including their forums.

I hear you regarding the frustration, kgk56. I have seen you around. I too get Drinkblood and the usual guys filling my Attack list after a while. What you could do, if you have SoW that you can’t use anyway, is to take the hit and lose to the first player on the list (who will have the lowest rating and therefore drop you further down the rankings). Your SoW, especially if full, are doing you no good if you can’t use them anyway, so might as well use one or two. Of course, you might end up winning the battle, but that’s good too!

Well I keep finding them, so I keep updating my thank you post earlier in the thread. So far it's ~44 different people over not quite 2 days (many have been duped up either due to revenge or just cos they come up in my Attack tab multiple times).

I basically only revenge people with weak defense atm (which easily uses up my 20 revenges per day), so they are the ones who usually get multiple benefits from attacking me.

FWIW: Despite a low defense, I seem to regularly end up ranked around the 100 mark at times (tho goes back down as people attack me), so I'm not complaining there!

That's what I was saying earlier, about how many non forum players think the rest of us are nuts, "why are these people lowering their defence team"?
DanielRacy's got the right idea which is exactly how I used to treat this event to.

I find my goals have changed a little at least for the time being so the defences have been fortified again, lol doesn't make much difference to the top contenders though still have pretty much all defeats in my defence list...

Some more thoughts about this:
- the top25 (just a guess) have more than 300 wins every week, irrespective if there is an event or not. So for them nothing is different
- below top50 (a guess again) the situation is completely different, as there nobody does 300 matches per week. For instance, I normally do 140-170 fights per week and finish between #50-100 with this
- now these Arena events show up and "force" you to do 300 wins -> this is about 2 times of what I (and many others) do.
- I still think the system counting wins only is not the best option. Yes, number of matches could be exploited, but to do so people would still need to buy SoW. Also, # of defense wins do not count for the milestones -> why?
- because of these things, most people (below top50) need to change their playing style if they want to get to the sweetspot with 300 wins
- to do so (and don't have enough time, money, motivation, key chars and relics), setting an easy and funny defense is the way to go. Because of 2 things:
- keep your points lower by losing all defense battles (as wins there don't count anyway) so that it is easier to fight teams that do NOT chose to use an easy and funny defense. AND second, even more important to me:
- to work together as a community (Blood Brothers!) so that many players (that are normally satisfied with half of it...like me...) can reach the 300 wins, also because of the revenges.
I am not sure if NF expected the playerbase to do this. I really like it as it shows that we can achieve more together and can even reach targets that are (in my opinion) too high (I simply cannot be positive with the idea to be forced to play ~4 hours of PvP per day, even though I like PvP in general).
Again, for the top 50 or so, it makes no difference as they do 300 wins regularly. For them it is even more beneficial, as they can also farm the easy wins - but I guess they have lower chances to meet those defenses, as this almost exclusively seems to apply for players below rank 100.
To conclude, as long as the arena event milestones stay as they are (# of wins is the only relevant thing and defense wins don't count), and the general rules for revenges stay as they are (20/day, 2 times the same player/day), I hope that the community stays strong and many players go for the fun defense to work together.

Just to give people some thought:

Currently ranked 96th, with 3198 points. Achieved 213 arena wins, with just over 2 days & 11 hrs to go. Only 3 of those arena battles has been against a conventional defense. One at the very start and two by accident. If someone with a conventional defense attacked me, I didn't attack them back.

Im like 25 wins from 150. Seeing a ton of full teams. My defense will always be a single eddie even after the events I could give a crap less about arena and esp gauntlet until they fix that magus/warrior only bs.

I got close to 300 and ran out of revenges, so I switched to actively attacking people.

Once I got a bit over 300, I switched to full defense, mainly to see if I can stay in the top 100 when changeover happens.

I'm at 320 wins. I won't be able to reach 400 that's too much for me, maybe in the next arena event. I'll keep defenses low until the end of it. I think I can manage to stay around ranking 150 or something like that, wich for me is good right now.
