Who is Your White Whale?

Having finally got enough fragments for VHE from the last event, I thought it would be interesting to see what characters people have been hunting for obsessively but never found, especially first generation toons that have eluded long term players. So; if you were Ahab, who is your Moby Dick?


For me, as a casual player since day one (hardly ever spend RL cash), I'm still waiting for Samurai, Visions and Aces High Eddies as well as Alliance General - never had any of them appear in the BoS in over 2 years. I still need quite a few of the more recent characters, but I'd be ecstatic to get any of these 4.

For me, it used to be VHE.
I had been looking for him since release of the game.
When I had collected about 400 fragments for VHE, he finally dropped from a bunch of rare Gunner/Assassin souls about 2 months ago.
I got him again from another soul shortly after, as usual.
I must say though that I am unimpressed, as he has been severly nerfed over the years, and other Eddies have surpassed him.
Now, I'm still looking for Allied General. Sneaky bugger, but also more of a collector's item with today's superpowered toons.

VHE has been avoiding me for a long time too. I got him just in time when he was the non-plus-ultra in PvP, a few weeks before the nerf, so that it was my first time in the top 250 for me. I still think he's ok, but the Nerf (especially with Fury only granting crit for one round now) was really too strong - very sad! But I still use him once in a while in PvP and in BNW.
But all in all it was the Samurai for whom I had to wait the longest. Got him during the last birthday event, so after 2 years!

I guess my 3 whales would be cyborg and the gunner and assassin valkyries. I have yet to pull any event character from a special event soul and I've been trying since the mystic Eddie event. I finally got seventh son by spending fragments and pulled him in rare soul 3 souls later.

AHE for me - have pulled every other 5* gunner available from „standard“ souls at least three times, but never AHE so far. Maybe I will try my luck with the Heroic souls this or next week...

Pulled Cyborg only recently for the first time - just to get two more within the same week. Had this happening with a couple other toons which took my ages to pull (W Troll and WABB): did not see them for nearly a year, then they come in bunches...

From the lastest im just missing Doomsday, Clansman and The Beast (Not eddie).
From the first days played i've been wanting to have a Magus King pharaoh dog, in its time it was cool to have one along with a Magus corrupted rescuer (someone may remember its yellow face before the change)

Until now that Dog is the only one from the first generations that i didn't get in these 2 years of LotB, i even got the Prisioner and FotD in the last events, its cleanse and heal may be usefull for the Gauntlet, so i don't give up and i buy a Magus soul each week.

Cyborg was always the main one I wanted from day one. I finally got him from the sacrifice event that yielded the Mythical Gunner Souls. The first one I opened was Cyborg... and so was the second! He's not even rare on my account anymore, probably pulled seven or eight since then. I had pretty much the exact same thing happen with Seventh Son that Metalking did, got him with the fragments and the next Eddie I saw from a rare soul was another one. I'm only missing Edward the Great, Doomsday and Benji (Why couldn't they just call him Gravedigger Eddie?)

This Ahab has been chasing after Cyborg Eddie since Day 1 of this game. No matter what, it seemed like he would always elude me. The biggest smack in the face was a few months back when there was the gunner centric event. I must have amassed over 70 G/A souls, all with increased chances of gunner characters, and after opening all of them, there was not A SINGLE CYBORG EDDIE to be found!! Thankfully I now know i will eventually get him from frags.

The sick irony of all this too is that while Cyborg has dodged me, I have had no problem getting everyone else's white whale - VHE. I think I have probably sacrificed 5 - 6 of him over the past 2 yrs.

For the longest time I was chasing Navigator Eddie. I finally ended up getting him but it took months of trying to spend every last resource or sacrifice character in an attempt to get him. Now a days its doomsday, breeg, alexander, and rainmaker. I will have alexander next month though. rainmaker is my longest running character i dont have as of now

My white whale since I started playing has been the Corrupt General. Such a strong character when this game started. Now that I have the Magus Mayan Priestess,the Corrupt General isn't that strong to me anymore,but I still want him for the collection though. I had to take a very long break from the game because of long hours at work and free hours were spent with family,so I might have received him a while ago if I had the time to play.

It was my first 5* character. He was shit at first, but I was using him regardless 'cause he was my only 5*. Then shortly after he got buffed and became one of my favourites.
It also started a change in the Arena back then - almost everyone was using VHE at the time and after Visions got buffed, everyone switched to him. :D

Prisoner. I started playing 1-2 months after launch, and got him around the primordial talisan event (maybe that's 1.5 years?). While his passive was nerfed, he got a new purpose as the bearer of the primordial, that fits him like a glove.

I still recall though, when I was acing through the arena, not much after launch with my troll allied bomber boy, and assassin artillery dog, thinking my passives make me immortal (remember, back in the days we didn't have Liliths and such), then came a man with a prisoner, and all I could see was that my array of defensive buffs and immunity was replaced with a huge "X" on red background, and I was beaten to pulp. My team was NOTHING without it's passives.

To me the prisoner carried a message. It was a simple one: "No gimmicks". And I was all about gimmicks.

Other than that, characters that have been eluding me since day1 are Nomad, Axis Commander (aka. Corrupt General) and gunner Child of the Damned. I only want them as collectibles though. Especially the General, as I always wanted to fight with Allied and Corrupt general on my side, just for the fun of it.

I am hoping I can be really really really lucky and snag one of Clansman or Beast when they become available through heroic souls soon.

I did get the Nutcracker and a dupe Krampus. Still, I can't shake the feeling of disappointment og me. I Saw really hoping that this, the third christmas event would be the one where I finally would get Coalgiver for my collection. Silly me!

So sorry to hear that Fister! I thought I was the only one that unlucky... But this year whilst I have not cracked a Krampus yet (terrible way to phrase it) I have managed to grab a 4 * Coal Giver, and with a week to go, my advice would be don't give up all hope just yet.
I did not pay for extra souls, I still have the 500 - 700 Krampus Lair to complete and got the Coal Giver Eddie on the 1st or 2nd day of the event. BTW I don't have the NutCracker either!

Stupid thing is I'm sure I had Rainmaker before, but apparently not, got nothing decent from the Krampus Dungeon no matter how much Ironite I burned, and Iron and the Beast just don't like popping up apparently. :rolleyes:

Back when i started playing, Rainmaker was always a priority for me. I'm a lot more drawn to dark things, and Rainmaker is arguably the darkest eddie when it comes to theme. Always been a fan. As of right now, no eddies are on my wanted list as I've already had the entire eddie roster at least once. But for allies, I'm still waiting on Dandelous. I have everyone else that I want from heroic souls. However I would love to regain my Hollowed Eddie, or Clansman, or even Edward the Great. I'm sure they'll turn up eventually. Beast may be the only one that I honestly want more than any other character

Nope nothing wrong. It is a scientifically proven outcome that the likelihood of getting a character is inversely proportional to how much you want it!

Tbh, you will get a shed-load of dupes. Save them up for sac events and level them up slowly. When I came back from hiatus, it was the sac events that things got real, catching new characters. If you have a solid base of chars that will get you level V and VI sacrificies, you often will get huge amounts of additional souls which in turn mostly get sacrificed. Only gold and shards slow you down and with those hundreds of souls, every so often, you'll drop a cool character :)

Interested to see if players are kept from acquiring all natural 5* to keep them chasing. From the current series of Heroic souls, I'm looking for Redan. After 99 Heroics and 2 Legendary Heroics, all characters dropped from the current pool except, you guessed it, Redan. I believe she is the only 5* missing from my roster. There is RNG, then there is NF/NAVI.

That may me a possibility, but I honestly don't think so. The less 5* you've got, the higher your chances of obtaining one, and vice versa. It's all within the realm of RNG.
I was thinking though, since computers can't generate real random numbers, if it's clever to open a large stack of souls over a longer time period instead of all at once.

Agree on this - I have never really complained about RNG in this game, you get what you get. But I absolutely hate heroic souls with a passion. The amount of garbage that comes out of those things is unbelievable. It’s the one instance where I think a soul drop might actually be programmed not to deliver the character you are missing.

I hear you but for me the heroics don’t seem as random as some of the others. For instance this latest rotation has the possibility of 3 four star characters, w nbol, ass artillery dog, or magus soulless demon. I’ve dropped a couple handfuls of heroics and guess who I got - a couple w nbol, and an ass artillery dog. Guess the only four star character I don’t have? Yep magus soulless demon. And guess what class of characters are needed for guantlet right now? Magus.

RNG - maybe but a lot of folks are complaining of the same issue with 5 star characters they need.

With most characters I eventually get them through some soul - but with heroics they come and go with a limited time and once they are gone you have no other means to find them. Not very exciting opening souls knowing the ones you want and need are behind a firewall

The heroic souls are terrible. The only character I didn't have from the current lineup was Redan. I opened 95 heroic souls at once and got every character from the rotation (some of them 20x) except Redan. This shit is really infuriating. So how many souls should I have to get a chance? 500? Ridiculous.

The chances should be equal for all characters in the rotation IMO. 10% regardless of its class. But now it's obvious it's not gonna happen because of the new Mythical Heroic Soul - which is alright, but the fragments are impossible to get anywhere right now.
I'm getting tired of all of this honestly. The next playable world (Isle of Avalon) probably won't be released this year and devs will focus on some PvP/Guilds stuff instead. And I'm not too much into such stuff, I prefer the story. Maybe I should go into a hibernation state for a while.

Well, sort of, but if you have two five-star characters per heroic rotation, the distributuin should be more or less even. But we have LOTS of cases where five or six 5* characters dropped out of hundreds of heroic souls, and all were dupes, but the one sought-after character did not drop.
This is of course still statistically possible, but it smells funny.
Ans also, what about all the cases in this very thread where people finally managed to get their white whale, only to get three dupes of it in the next sac event?
Nope, for me this is obvious. A dupe-biased RNG at work here.
Of course, the dev's could lay open the RNG sources or at least contradict to anyone who has put up this argument, but so far, it's only silence on that front.

For me this example shows that the characters are by far not evenly distributed in terms of drop chance. I must have opened >200 rare A, G/A plus ~40 epic A souls since he was introduced and he did not show up (same is true for the Hierophant). Or the both of us just have severe bad luck ;)

While are some of these are pay only (at least currently) and one who isn't really available yet (Fallen Icarus Eddie), there's at least 2 Christmas characters in there that I'm hoping finally drop for me sometime next month.
