Eddie Effect Transfer

I've noticed that if I swap Eddies out with a negative effect, they stay in place, yet if I swap Eddies with a positive effect they all disappear. The one I notice most is the shield from Eternal talismans - I presume that there are some restrictions in effect so you don't have a character with, say, shroud then swap to another Eddie while keeping the shroud, but should effects applied by other characters remain in place?
