I THOUGHT the odds were supposed to be better in hero souls. Clearly they are not.

Nah not really. Still only ~10.5% chance you get 4 or 5* with heroics, with only 1.5% its a 5*. So your drops are about right, where youd need more like 67 to get a 5* on average.

My rule of thumb is that if I want to get 'a' 5* heroic, Ive got to be prepared to drop a stack of 100. Then its a coin flip you get the one you want!

For heroic legendaries, its a 12% chance of 5*. So 9 of them to be 100% sure of getting a 5* and then its a coin flip again.

That said, to drop 4-5 and get the exact same char.... Thats really low possibility!

I don't understand your math. 12% chance of getting 5* <=> 88% chance of not getting 5*. Not getting 5* after dropping 9 souls = 0.88^9. Getting at least one 5* after dropping 9 souls = 1 - 0.88^9 = 68.35%.
If you want to know how many souls to drop to exceed odds beyond a certain threshold - e.g. having more than 99% odds to get a 5*, then: 0.88^x < 0.01 <=> x < ln(0.01)/ln(0.88) = 36, i.e. dropping 36 souls means you're 99% likely to get one (or more 5*) and 1% likely to get none.

Random means random. there's no certainty, never. you can drop a million legendaries and could end up with no 5*, though odds are small.

/edit:
Btw this is a gemoetrically distributed event "waiting for success" which is known to have an expected value of 1/p = 1/0.12 = 8.3, rounded up to the next integer it's 9 - maybe this is what you meant ?
An expected value is a deterministic moment, but the number of your draws until success is still random.

I needed Gunner Trickster... dropped 1 legendary soul and got him... movin' on.

I (knock on wood) have had this same luck with every character I needed from heroics. I drop a mythic, get the 5star I need, drop a legendary, get the 4star i need, etc... Hope my luck doesnt change.

The new announcement is huge! I need both Gemini toons and NotB eaddie!

I dropped 32 normal heroic souls and 2 legendary heroic souls, and got a ludicrous result. 2 gunner chopper and three magus undead rescuers, and a bunch of 3 stars. I needed 3 of the available characters and got none of them.

I was hoping to save legendaries for next rotation, but I suppose NotB is an essential right?

Also, is it meant to be the case that rare heroics dont drop legendary shards, but legendary drop mythicals?

Final Edit: I reckon NoTB isnt actually available and its a horrible bug!!!! Another 5 legendaries and same derby demon / hellraiser / anubis every.single.time!

Im going to give it a break for a day and then try dropping my last 5 legendaries, then hope I can get Maclo next rotation...

Yeah I am having no luck with NotB Eddie - I think he is going to be a miss for me for a long time. The upside is a did get my missing Magus Anubis (many times over!)! Yay!

This is one of the worst RNG cases I've ever encountered with this game. Over 150 heroics, 20 legendary, and 7 mythical. Nothing but "stuck" in a ridiculously poor roll. I got so frustrated, that I had to use all my mythicals, and Icarus was popping one after another, until my last one finally dropped me the NoTB Eddie. This is simply infuriating. To see people earning that character by dropping 10-15 regular heroics, and a bunch of us grinding day after day like crazy, since this game has been released, only for the game to "repay" us in the worst way... This is shameful...

I am currently at 4 Icarus & 25 4* numpties! I suppose I did get lucky with Redan in one hit.... But this is actually the one that I really wanted!!!

@everyone - Should I save maybe 50 reg souls for Maclo/Gunner Krampus next rotation? Should I dump the last 2 legendaries to try and get NotB, or save them up for next time?

I don't really like the way this RNG works. It looks just unorthodox.

The thing is, that if you throw 10 or 20 regular souls, after having thrown a whole lot of them, you may score NotB. But we all know how unlucky you can still get. I would certainly save at least 40 souls for Maclo in next rotation though.

I think there are to many variables that define how RNG works. The only thing I have come to believe is that it is problematic and broken for some accounts.

hell I'm scared to even use the rest of my souls to try.. I had 232 and wasted 32 when they had the wrong rotation sent ticket then 32 more after they got it fix.. got who i needed... then since somehow they decided to answear the email they took the toons i got and instead giving back my souls they took more which don't make since now I'm stuck with 131 half what had before rest and nothing to show not even the dupes.. and of course now they don't want check the emails.. all i want souls back they took after reset... there no reason should not still have 232 if they restore.... Andy who did it got to see he took and not added back don't make any since.. I Never been more ready to quite the game.. I mean messing up one thing but taken souls instead giving back new low...

Just chucked in my last 2 legendaries and more 4* dupes...

Am going to save 50 regs for next rotation... At least Ill have a 2/3 chance of getting a 4* that I need, so will hopefully walk away with at least something new!

Though, would anyone know what the chances of a sac event prior to the next rotation finishing would be? Should be pretty good for a sac even early in July right?

So maybe I cuold dump a few more rare souls on the premise that I can get a heap back in a sac event prior to Maclo rotation finishing?

Edit: OMG!!! Went out and saw the notification in my souls - seems I got one more mythical... Dump it - NOTFriggenB!!!

Yew! Dont feel so bad about dumping 4 mythicals, 15 legendaries and 70 regulars now. Was at least a bit worth it! lol

Soul RNG is a funny thing. From my experience you seem to go on runs where you either have no luck and repeatedly get the same dupes or lots of luck and get a new character, heroics are no different. Like getting several prisoners or hallowed eddies over a period of time from G/A and legendary souls and all other 5* seem to be uber rare. Or getting The Count, Musashi and Redan with a single Mythical Heroic (I did drop about 140 rare heroics chasing Redan prior to the mythical it must be said). Now I seem to be on the run where I am far more likely to get the dupe from Mythical and Legendary Heroics. I still have one Mythical up my sleeve but I am contemplating whether I should save it as I used up my good run of luck recently. I could drop every heroic I have (320 currently) and still not get NotB Eddie. Its just another form of gambling, you need luck but also need a number in mind of how much you want to "Spend", once you hit that number "cash out" and try again next time.

At the moment I have 4 legendaries and I am def saving those for the next rotation as I don't have any of S. Robo Scout, G. Derby Demon or A. Anubis so I am guaranteed to get at least one of them, hopefully 2.

132 regular and 16 legendary only 1 5 star glad it was the right one. Rags is right NotB is a semi has been being upstaged by angel+gambler. He still kicks was and is worth habing for sure. The new event popped up for gaining epic talisman frags then the news thread vanished and all challenges say expired?5672

Def agree that it is a funny thing! As devils advocate on your approach though, would dropping your 4 legendaries give you another mythical? If so, you've actually got 6 cracks at NotB, who is a big one both for the collection and the skills!

I would argue that with 320 rare heroics, that you have a very good chance of getting at least 2 of the 4*s next month. You 'should' get all of them with one 100 stack dropped... Murphys law might have other ideas to be fair

The only time I spend real money anymore is if something is guaranteed. Packs where you get a certain soul or character, and x ironite, and x skill shards, ok I might buy it. A pack where you have a chance to get something? That is a lot like gambling, and loot boxes may no longer be legal. I'll pass.

So it’s that time again people!
Did you manage to nab that pesky character through this rotational change of characters??

For me I have managed to get the Killer beast on my first mythical drop, but I have dropped 21 normal heroics and three Legendary heroics but I can’t seem to secure the scout... I have plenty of the other two four stars for sacrifice...

That is awesome news Fudjo! I just risked another legendary heroic soul and finally nabbed the Sentinel scout I was after too.

My main issue now will be decking out all these recently acquired characters with Talisman and skill shards.
A week ago I had a surplus of skill shards 50+ but after all the recent events and the ongoing trooper event I had to give up some FC to purchase Warlord and Bastion again and deck them out for the challenges.

Fresh out of three star colourless shards as well, think I’ll pass on the extra frags and farm for colourless shards..

Hey, I'll take the luck. Congrats on getting MACLO! Er, the good kind of MACLO. :)

The big challenge is trying for a Blue Heirophant in a couple weeks. I have three Mythical Heroic Souls, so hopefully I'll win one of those coin flips.

It's 3-star colorless runes that I'm just about out of after that Talisman evo event. Once this fragment event is over I'll be farming BNW for quite a long time. Presumably we'll need another 270 3-star colorless evo runes for the next Talisman evo event in a couple months, as well.

It took me about 150 souls in the last rotation to get NotB. About half-way, a dupe Icarus entered my dupe collection, which is also nice.
This time I am after 2 characters and I am happy to see blue Hiero and (finally!!) gunner derby demon in the next rotations.
But I will wait a bit, as usual, to start opening souls. I am surprised to hear that this time it seems like the right characters are in the pool :)
Also I want to see if we have overlap with other events to profit from and to decide if I go with normal souls or legendaries.

I had not realised so many people were missing Gunner Derby Demon! As for the the Killer Beast I tried in early March to secure frags for him and failed, now he’s popping up everywhere!
He’s available through normal souls if only a slim chance, then he’s featured in the last frag event, now in heroics..

After smashing all my mythicals, legendaries and heaps of regular to get NotB last rotation, I had only 61 regular souls to claim Maclo and Gunner Krampus...

First 10 - Maclo! Woot!
Next 10 - Gunner Krampus! Woot Woot!

And Gunner Troll wtf? I need to double check the 3 stars available more often!

She was only available once so far and this was from event souls when Night City was introduced! I think the time span between release and showing up again in heroics never was that long as it was for the derby demon!

I was bummed I didn't get the Magus Heiro from the Heroics, so I went for the Gunner Heiro, spent 900 ironite on the "Secret Occult Mega Pack"..... no Banner talis though, but already had a set anyway.

I needed Blue Pope, the dog, and both twins.

I spent 1 mythic, got pope.
then I used legendaries, 1 at a time. Got blue twin, dog, dog, blue twin, BLUE POPE, dog, Green Twin.

So 1 mythic (wasted) and 7 legendaries and I got all my toons and a healthy set of sac fodder.

.... to drop more than 40 heroic souls and only get 3 star characters and 2 4 star characters (same 4 star toon x2).

.....And then drop 4-5 Epic Hero souls and get the same 4 star character each time.

Well what I noticed also trying to get a specific character during various past heroic rotations was that drops were somehow influenced by the time I opened the soul. For example, on a single or multiple session on day one say around 9:00am, on a pool of 4 possible 4star characters no matter how many souls I threw in there's one I keep not getting and one I get more than the others. Then I make a new attempt different day (maybe different time) and I get that one character Im chasing multiple times while there's a new one that becomes impossible to get. I especially noticed this when chasing a 3 star, having a large stack of regular heroic available I could make many attempts. It seems that the character you get is somehow session/time bind.....

Yeah, I also agree.
I have plenty of open slots since I sacked 85+ toons in the last event. So I opened a bunch of new souls today: warrior, legendary, epic, rare...... kept getting warrior rocket dog, in all types of souls.
So the above mentioned theory makes sense.

The moral in the end would be: if U see that the character you want doesn't appear STOP and try again tomorrow. BUT I can't do this myself anf keep wasting souls 😂

Not all at once, either. First 4 were in a batch after I dumped 30 souls in, the remaining drops individually strung out over the last week.

Yep. G. Pharoah Dog King.... He's very elusive... by the time I get him he will probably be obsolete, LoL.

I finally got G. Heiro from the store on one of those character/talis paks.
He rocks.... he takes red talis, so troopers or vipers work well on him.

This heroic set, I finally got that G. Derby demon. We need all the latest gunners we can get.
