Can anyone explain Fallen Angel Souls?

I received a bunch of Fallen Angel Soul fragments and just can't figure out their purpose. You collect 400 of them and get a Fallen Angel Soul. You then spend 50k gold to turn the Fallen Angel Soul into a Gold Idol and 400 more Fallen Angel Soul Fragments. You then sell the Gold Idol for 50k gold. At one point, I leveled up a Gold Soul to 3* to see if that'd get me more when I sell, but it's still a 50k gold sale. The only real good that came out of this for me so far was that I was able to knock off a bunch off achievements. Is there something else that I'm missing?
