UPDATE #0: This guide is very out of date, as there have been several changes to the enemy line-ups in this dungeon. In general, the changes have made the stages easier to manage. I shall update the enemy wave graphics for Madness and Insanity, but the longer text parts may still be out of date for a while longer sorry.

Welcome to the visual guide for the Skull Quest related FROZEN WASTELAND Frontier Dungeon. Compared to the other dungeons, this icy one is relatively straight forward, but the more information available the better. This new dungeon was released on the 18th of November, 2019. It was aimed at newer and intermediate players (and now caters to all players with the introduction of Insanity), and introduced Icy Talisman Legendary Souls. Every 250 Hard runs, 100 Madness, or 25 Insanity runs of this dungeon will earn a blue T2/3 cosmic talisman.

First of all, huge shout-out to Bakura, for giving me the inspiration to create my own guide for this easier dungeon. Love your work mate!
Secondly, where possible/remembered I have underlined and linked to the Compendium (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/) page for relevant characters and talismans.
Lastly, whenever you see [ed:] that's me adding editor's commentary to someone else's posts. Thought I should make that clear as Ed means something different here in LotB!

You can find the official announcement and description of this dungeon HERE (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?12649-Frozen-Skulls-Battle-in-Skull-Quests-for-new-Frozen-Wasteland-Frontier-Key-Souls!&p=111993&viewfull=1#post111993). It contains some nice official illustrations.

How to Unlock the Frozen Wasteland
The Frozen Wasteland requires a key, like all Frontier Dungeons. Initially, these keys could not be purchased for Frontier Coins, and could only be obtained as an uncommon (20%) drop from Skull Quests during events, or as event challenge rewards. The launch event (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?12649-Frozen-Skulls-Battle-in-Skull-Quests-for-new-Frozen-Wasteland-Frontier-Key-Souls!) had three keys as a challenge reward, and the second Skull Quest event (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?12965-Lost-in-Purgatory-(Skull-Quest)-Battle-for-Frozen-Wasteland-Keys-Limbo-Talismans) has another three as challenge rewards. The third Skull Quest event (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?13214-Cursed-Flames-(Skull-Quest-Cosmos)-Battle-for-The-Wicker-Man-amp-Grimoire-Fragments!) had six keys as rewards, and announced the keys would be permanently added to the Frontier Store for 150FC.

Each key costs a nominal 25,000 gold to open in the Book of Souls. The key opens the dungeon for eight (8) hours. You are only limited by time (and your ironite for refills), there are no other restriction. There are now two stages, a HARD and a MADNESS mode. Hard costs 10SoT, Madness 20SoT.

REWARDS - What can you get from the Frozen Wasteland?
As you can see from the in-game reward list above, this dungeon is heavily focused on cosmic talismans. However, the game doesn't show everything, so here is the full list and discussion of potential rewards. A month after launch, alongside the introduction of the Madness stage, the drop rates were drastically changed, and drop sizes standardised. Some of Hard Modes drop rates were transferred directly to the new Madness level, while others were slashed across both stages. While this guide's previous reward section was based on over 1,000 runs, this reworked section is only based on 100 runs each of Hard and Madness. Enough to give a general idea of drop patterns and determining rough common/uncommon/rare probabilities, but not enough to be confident with any of the numbers. RNG will be RNG after all.

Super Rough Summary while working out how best to visualise this:
HARD = 2 Icy Frags + 2 Evo Bricks + 0-3 Additional Rewards
MADNESS = 5 Icy Frags + 4 Evo Bricks + 0-4 Additional Rewards
INSANITY = 20 Icy Frags + 6 Evo Bricks + 0-4 Additional Rewards

Apologies for the length of this section! Even cutting it down in the update hasn't reduced it by much.
Icy Talisman Legendary Soul Fragments - Each Hard run always drops two (2) Icy Talisman Fragments and Madness run always drops five (5). 500 fragments converts into a blue T2/3 cosmic soul, a 5* Gold Skull, and 100 Icy Talisman Mythic Soul fragments. 1,000 Mythic fragments guarantees a blue T3 along with another 5* Gold Skull.

3* Evolution Shards - The reward image only shows the colourless variety, but all six varieties drop here. Every run ALWAYS drops two (1+1) of these evo shards in Hard and two pairs (2+2) in Madness, which will be a combination of either Red, Green, or Purple (95%), or Blue, Yellow, or Colourless (5%). Even with the reduced SoT drops, this is a decent way to gather the Red, Green, and Purple bricks. May even be better than LoL X, although you'll obviously miss out on the other rewards from that dungeon.

Cosmic Evo Runes 1* & 2* T1/2/3 - All six types of cosmic evo runes drop here, and always drop in a pair of two (2). While not a guaranteed drop, they will only ever drop once per run. They drop in around 1/3rd of Hard runs, and 3/4th of Madness runs. As expected, the odds for each type of rune relate to their star and T-level, with 1* T1 being the most common.

Talisman Soul Fragments - These drop in stacks of 3, and are very rare. Considering you need 400 of these fragments for a complete soul, and other dungeons drop larger stacks, these feel like a wasted reward drop.

Rare Souls - Rare souls have become rare again.

Skill Shards - Skill shards have become exceedingly rare once more. In my 100 Hard runs, not a single SS dropped, compared with 4 in Madness.

Frontier Coins - The most heartbreaking of all the nerfs, the humble Frontier Coin. When the dungeon first launched you could expect a long-term average of around 1.3 FC per run. It was an excellent way for newer players to catch-up on this increasingly vital currency. Frontier Coins still drop in stacks of 5, but they only dropped 5 times in my 100 Madness (so 25FC in 100 runs), and once in my 100 Hard runs. The FC drops here are negligible.

Gold - Nothing too special here, just under 7,000 gold each Hard run and around 10,750 gold in Madness. Only ever on the first screen, as the reward chest never contains gold. Thankfully.

Sands of War - Sands of War drop in stacks of 3. While reduced, SoT remains one of the more common rewards. My Madness runs have average slightly over 1SoW per run, while Hard mode has half of that. If you're already running this dungeon for whatever reason, you'll stock up a few SoW for the next PvP event.

Sands of Time - Like most dungeons in this game Sands of Time can drop as both a regular mission reward (first page) and an extra reward from the Treasure Chest (second page). The first page displays a combined total of both, but can be separated once drop sizes (5 in both stages) are determined. The first page is roughly the same for both stages, around 65-70% for 1-5SoT, but when it comes to the 5SoT from the reward chest, Madness has double the drop rate of SoT compared with Hard mode. On average, Hard will recover ~2SoT each run, and Madness just under 4SoT. Not much, but enough to get an extra run most refills.

Ironite - Ironite also appears on both the first and second reward screens, but aren't combined on the first screen like SoT. Both stages drop 1-3ironite on the first page ~35% of the time. The reward chest can drop 5ironite. In my 100 Madness runs this happened 9 times, and only twice in my 100 Hard runs. Again, it's not much, but it could refund around 20% of the ironite you spend on refills.

Experience - Nothing special, Madness has 20,000xp to divide between the characters you take, and Hard has 15,000.

In summary, the Frozen Wasteland remains a good source for Red, Green, and Purple 3* Evolution Shards, all varieties of Cosmic Evolution Runes, and a decent source for Sands of War. Everything else should be treated as an extra bonus, and not expected.

THE ACHIEVEMENTS - What to wear?
There are five new achievements relating to the Frozen Wasteland. They all involve having a character wearing a set of talismans beat the dungeon 500 times. There is one for each colour, and most of them drop from the Talisman Skull Quests stages. Venom is event-only, the odd one out. They do not need to be on active characters, you can have them on a back-seat Eddie and they will still count towards the achievements. Putting two sets on a character doesn't work, but two characters with a set each will count twice.

Prime (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/prime-warrior/) - Red 2-set
Future (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/future-magus/) - Blue 2-set
Heal (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/heal-sentinel/) - Green 3-set
Tranquillity (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/tranquility-gunner/) - Yellow 2-set
Venom (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/venom-assassin/) - Purple 3-set

All five acheivement rewards are the same: 25 Ironite, 75 Talisman Soul Fragments, and 2 Skill Shards.

The following information only related to HARD mode. For information pertaining to MADNESS scroll down to the second post.

THE ENEMIES - Who are we fighting here?
As befitting a HARD dungeon designed with newer players in mind, the enemies here are not overly difficult. They are all 4*, and either level 75 or 80. They might not have much HP, but they can hit surprisingly hard if you're not careful. They don't have any special talismans, and all have the same additional stat boosts, as shown below. The Frozen Wasteland has five waves, ending in a boss fight. However, despite Beelzebub being used in the official images for this dungeon, he is not the boss. That honour goes to the second blue bat.

Potential Pitfalls
With a proper team, this dungeon shouldn't be a problem. However, if you're using the dungeon to level characters, you may be relying on only one or two strong characters, and could run into the occasional mishap, or have your runs slowed down unnecessarily. These are the two waves you'll need to handle for the smoothest farming experience.

Wave 2 - This is where my only two defeats (in hundreds of runs) have come from. The Purple Dog's (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/artillery-dog-assassin/) power attack can give the whole team Endure (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/positive-negative-en/endure/), so you'll want to beat their team on the first turn. The Green Dog (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/dog-of-war-sentinel/) has the Block passive, making it slightly harder to one-shot the whole team. Either Passive Disable, or use a strong multi-hit attack to get past the Block. Both Purple and Red Hound (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/hellhound-warrior/) have passive Immunity (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/positive-negative-en/immunity/).

6954

Wave 5 - This is the boss wave, and the two Green Bats (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/angel-of-strife-sentinel/) have the Block passive. Same as last time, use Passive Disable or a strong multi-hit attack to break through. If left alive the Green Bats can grant themselves Invincibility (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/positive-negative-en/invincibility/), which will slow down your runs. While Beelzebub (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/beelzebub-warrior/) can give himself Vanish (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/positive-negative-en/vanish/), which could slow down single-target auto-runs, the actual boss of the fight is the second blue bat. Killing the bat, once you've dealt with the Blocking green bats, will end the fight.

TEAM SUGGESTIONS- Who should you take?

Remember the enemies deal more damage than you might expect, so unless you can kill everything in one turn, be sure your Eddie can take a couple of hits in return. Once you're certain you can survive, you'll want to kill things as quickly as possible, to get the most out of the unlimited runs. An aoe multi-hitter will see you through, or two strong aoe attackers. A way to deal with Immunity, and at the worst, Endure, could be helpful.

This is what other people have been saying:

I am using DOOMSDAY EDDIE (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/doomsday-eddie-gunner/) and LILITH MOONLIGHT (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/dark-lilith-assassin/) [ed: Max Awakened version] and always win with 30 seconds.

Guy Fawkes Ed (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/535559372282003467/640386120856764416/SPOILER_GF_abilities.jpg) will beat it by himself as well. Takes around 40 seconds because of that dog with Endure (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/artillery-dog-assassin/) in the second battle, but that's the only slow spot.

Celobeast
You can try dragonscale talismans (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/dragonscale-assassin/), since they cause extra damage after the main damage. Navigator (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/navigator-eddie-gunner/) + Killer Prime (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/the-killer-prime-sentinel/) 18-22 sec.

Lanterns let FoI's basic hit multiple times with a chance to heal and trigger Warlord's extra turn. Everything usually dies in the first turn, and the Orbits help remove Endure and Immunity if needed.

Bakura
Final Frontier Eddie (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/final-frontier-eddie-sentinel/) can solo the dungeon. 20 seconds with NotB Eddie (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/number-of-the-beast-eddie-warrior/) and Killer Prime (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/the-killer-prime-sentinel/).

What team have you been using? How fast are your runs? Have you found any good Icy Talismans yet?

MADNESS

Update: Madness runs now count towards the talisman wearing achievements, confirmed as finally working on 29/2/2020.

What's new?
The Madness stage is a recent addition to the Frozen Wasteland frontier dungeon. Was added mid-December, and announced early January during a Skull Quest event. It costs 20 SoT to run.

What are the rewards like?
It shares the same reward list as Hard mode, with expected changes to drop chance and stack size. Each run will guarantee you five (5) Icy Legendary Talisman Soul fragments, and four (4) 3* Evolution Shards. The Evo Shards drop in two stacks of two, and can be any of the six different types, but with a significantly higher chance of Red, Green, and Purple. Early reward tracking suggests in addition to the guaranteed Icy Fragments and Evolution Shards, there is a chance for up to three (3) extra rewards, which includes a high chance for a pair of Cosmic Evolution Runes (of all six different types) and a decent chance for SoW. Everything else is quite rare. Will update as more reward data is collected.

Who are we fighting?
Once again Beelzebub (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/beelzebub-warrior/) takes to the field with a chorus of Battlefield and Underworld characters, but makes the curious decision to take orders from a child. Here is every enemy in each wave, and the talismans they are wearing:

9308
Madness image is accurate as of 31st January 2022.

It is a noticeable step up in difficulty from Hard mode, but if you're able to handle Madness in most of the event dungeons, or Night City, you should be able to handle this dungeon stage without too much trouble. Unlike Hard mode, there is no standard stat boost the enemies all share. Instead, as is standard for Madness/Insanity levels, each characters appears to gain the appropriate max-leveled stats for the talismans they are wearing.

Theoretically, this information should allow you to identify both the subtype of any regular talismans, and the stats of any cosmic talismans the characters wear. For example, take a look at the Warrior Child of the Damned (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/child-of-the-damned-warrior/) in the samples below. We know he wears Vipers and Immunity (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/immunity-gunner/). Since Vipers are a 5-set and Immunity a 2-set, we can assume the Immunity effect comes from a Cosmic talisman, in addition to the lack of the Special boost you would expect from yellow talismans. The 342DEF and 228MR correlate to three maxed Fierce talismans and two Safeguard. These would also provide 2265ATK and 5710HP. Which leaves us with 13445HP, 1418ATK, and 1328MAG, which we can assume come from the Immunity Cosmic. While this information is mostly useless, I hope you found it at least somewhat interesting.

7346

Who should I watch out for?
The main obstacle is the Starfire talismans (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/starfire-assassin/) the Assassin Child of the Damned (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/child-of-the-damned-assassin/) is wearing. If you're unprepared, your team may accidentally explode themselves. A set of Celestial (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/celestial-magus/) talismans is one possible answer for them. Just be prepared for Passive Disable, Perfect Corruption, and losing all your buffs when the Starfire-wearer dies.

The Warrior Child of the Damned (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/child-of-the-damned-warrior/) wearing Viper talismans (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/viper-warrior/) can also prove an annoyance. His counter-attacks can add further injury to any Starfire-reflected damage, and the chance of Perfect Corruption can reduce the effectiveness of any healing of blocking effects you might use. He can't be ignored however, since he is the boss. Kill him, and the fight is over.

7347
This image is out of date, as both Starfire and Viper talismans have been removed.

The 3rd wave, with the five Angels, can be slow to fight due to their various passives and annoying talismans such as Siege and Gate. You may have already encountered a similar Angel-heavy wave in the Madness stage of the Daily Dungeon. Permadeath, Perfect Death, Passive Disable, Corruption, Heal Block, etc, will speed things up here. Even with a reliable team, this is the most RNG-dependent wave.

Who should I bring?
My first team, back in December when Madness launched, I was using Forge talismans (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/forge-assassin/), and while they prevented me from dying, the Starfires would inflict Perfect Corruption and prevented the Perfect Heal Shield. My team were usually able to defeat the enemy after this without much trouble, but occasionally the Viper's would cause a counter-attack on my 1HP Eddie, which brought things to a screeching halt. Learn from my mistake, bring some form of protection from Silver Effects, or proper damage immunity like Celestial (http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/talisman-en/celestial-magus/) talismans. My current team (listed in the table below) hasn't lost yet, and has an average clear time of 1:20.

INSANITY

WORK-IN-PROGRESS: The Insanity level was only recently added, and very little is known currently. This section will be updated over time as more concrete information is discovered and verified.

What's new?
The Insanity stage is the most recent addition to the Frozen Wasteland frontier dungeon. Appears to have been quietly added during the 2nd February 2020 Update If it follows the same pattern as Madness, it will be announced during the next Skull Quest event. It costs 30 SoT to run, and rewards 20 Icy Talisman Fragments. At launch, it was fiendishly difficult, but has since been made significantly more manageable over a couple of patches. For the discussion of the original challenge, you can jump to DragonMat89's post here later in this thread.

The Demon Princes in Wave 2 and Wave 4 are both considered Boss enemies, meaning they are immune to Passive Disable effects.

This is the current version of the Insanity stage:

9309
The Insanity image is accurate as of 31st January 2022.

The First Time Reward is 1 Skill Shard, 1 Epic Soul, 400 Talisman Fragments, and 35 Ironite.

Insanity drops 20 Icy Talisman Fragments, and two stacks of 3 Evolution Shards. The additional rewards are the same as the other stages, but everything has a higher chance of dropping. Or perhaps there is a lower chance of getting nothing from each run.

31/1/2022 - Updated the enemy layout images for the Madness and Insanity stages, reflecting the current version of the dungeons, as multiple changes have been made to the dungeon over the past year.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Enemy wave image needs to be updated to include relevant strategic advice. Possibly. Maybe not.
A new Insanity difficulty stage was discovered on 27/2/2020. Will need to be catalogued and the guide updated.

Weird thing is that for me the boss is the second blue bat and not Beelzebub

Thanks for pointing this out. I had swapped those around when putting the images together, as I'd thought the game has incorrectly mislabelled the boss. Have just gone back and tested it with single target attackers, and killing that second blue bat ends the fight. That is a very strange decision having the bat as the boss, but he is the boss, so I'll go change that image.

Update: Image fixed, including the enemy order in Waves 1&3.

Nice job! Very informative.

Best thing is I don't have to now... thanks.

I did get screenshots and info, but have been grinding this cool dungeon 8 hours at a time everyday, that it's hard to do much else.

I actually have images for many other dungeons ready to document, but wasn't sure if I should cuz of the way the game has been, and my care factor has dropped.

You have inspired me as well.
Keep up the good work!

I am sure many new people months from now will continue to find this valuable.

Hahah, glad I've saved you the bother. I probably should have asked you first, made sure you weren't already half through making one. I thought Frozen Wasteland would be a good one for me to start with, as the dungeon is so much easier than the others, there wouldn't be much demand for a guide. A low-stakes opportunity to try learning something new. I now understand just how much work it is to put these together!

I had a lot of fun editing the images for this, and playing around with BB Code formatting. Going to spend a bit of time this afternoon coming up with a template I can use to easily make more of those Wave Guides in the future.

Which dungeons were you thinking of doing next? I wouldn't mind working on another of the easier dungeons, and would be more than happy if you wanted to collaborate in the future. Or at least make sure we're not both working on the same ones at the same time :)

This is honestly the best dungeon to farm overnight. 8 hours, unlimited plays, good resources, and easy achievements. True, it's not great for awakening characters as much as the other dungeons are, but this works for me.

All the guides we are seeing form a few folk are really excellent work. So glad there are several good souls out there doing the graft on these as it helps so many folk get through things quicker. Well done to all in the community who give up their time to do these things as they take a lot to do I am sure. Same for the guys who are doing the online guides and sites - these are mazing resources for the whole player base form beginner to oldies like me.

That doesnt do any good if you cant play. Extend the event for a month, without fixing the connection issue it is a worthless gesture.

I think those who couldnt play should get a compensation, since we are not allowed to earn rewards that others are. The presidence of compensation has been set.

Oh no, that's awful. Will selfishly hope your key bugged out, but if they really have reduced the dungeon opening times, I'll need to update this thread. Planning a few improvements already, but they could wait if needed.

Did you notice any other differences? Same enemies, same drops?

There was no announcement, so I assume it's a bug. I have not played this dungeon yet as I don't have the time for that. For me it would be ok to set the duration down to 2 (or even better 1) hour(s), but then multiply my keys by 4 or 8 and give some free keys to those that already used some keys :)

Must be a bug as not heard about anything on this as all in the dev chat. I am not actually playing this level much at the moment - all in on LOL 15 to try to get my awakening stuff sorted and also to go for Dark Lil and Lucy after that so running my maxed LOLs or cosmic and assassin....! An expensive business on the ironite front!

Probably a bug, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. I didn't play this level since it came out either but now I had time to pop a key and leave it home for 8 hours without possibility of coming to see a defeat. Drop rates seem lower too, if I scale down 8 hour runs down to 2 hrs, I got half the rewards from before and no ironite back, deifinitely not worth anything now. Probably not going to run it again and that's a shame because I have 18 more keys that will just sit there.

Agree, I just opened a key and been running it for almost an hour now and the rewards are not as good as before, so far I only got 1 rare soul, like 2-3 skill shards, like 10 ironite and like 30-40 SoT, it is definitely not worth it anymore. I used the keys to get FC but now it looks like we are not getting them anymore.

Oh and one more thing I noticed was that when you open the key in the Book of souls it says 8 hours, but once you go to the dungeon it says 2 hours

Scott and Count Bakura, I have just spent 1000 ironite running 150 passes on LoL XV and relate to your posts. Awakening is addictive, expensive, and required to get some truly must have characters. Like Dark Lilith is being held hostage from my roster and before she joins up I must spend so much everything max awakening characters I do not use to get her. I was at 5000 LoL XV runs a couple months ago, staggering ironite investment. And I don't have nearly what the top players in PvP are sporting right now. The Max A Cyborg, Beast, Dark Lilith and Moonchild set up eats 20 5 star assassin awakening shards and 10 gunner among everything else that just trickles in. Druid posted getting 1 5 star purple in almost 700 runs of XIV, gathering all of this material is amazing. This resource cost could be over 1000 bucks worth of ironite, awakening packs, etc. NF must be loving this Awakening feature and the river of cash this power-feeding frenzy is creating.

This is sad, I had 13 Frozen Keys in reserve for me to play, you know, because that dunjon was almost unplayable when they released it (like so many other things) Today (before I read this post), I decided to use one to get my frontier challenge... Ugh... 8h is now 2h. I used to get many skill shards and Frontier coin. This morning: none. I read 1 complaint about this donjon, everybody else were happy and thankful to have something nice. Well guys, this is only good for 3* bricks (purple, red and green) now. I saw great improvement since I came back in this game. This is a real turn off.

By the way, great, great, great work for OP even if now devs screw up most of his hard work.

The following issue was resolved in the hotfix:

Fixed the Frozen Wasteland Dungeon timer so the dungeon remains open for 8 hours

Wonderful, hopefully that's done the trick! The dungeon was a good way for early/mid-range players to catch up a bit with various resources, and the original 8 hours gave people the flexibility to farm these event-exclusive keys. More importantly, thanks for not making me have to re-edit the dungeon durations in some of the guide images :P

Speaking of guide images, I've added a new Quick Reference image up the top of the first post. Hopefully it gives people a reasonable idea of what the dungeon is about without needing to read through everything else if they want to jump in quickly. Does it accomplish that? Do you like the style/layout of that bit? Creative feedback?

That's exactly why I started. Was struggling to find easy-to-understand information about some of the newer things, and didn't have the experience or character roster to get much out of the long event threads. Was Bakura's LoL Guide that gave me the initiative to start making the type of resources I wanted to be able to read myself. Team recommendations are excellent if you already have the characters and want to jump in quickly, but can be just as useful to have something that tells you what sort of challenges you'll face and what types of abilities or effects you'll need.

Whenever I sit down and edit together one of the guide images, I keep thinking it'll be quicker this time. But inevitably I discover/re-learn something new, some new or fancier technique, that ends up making everything take even longer! I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but everyone's positive feedback so far is really helping me to hit the publish button rather than obsessing over getting every thing to line up perfectly. On a purely personal level, I've found it quite satisfying to see how my "skill" has increased in such a short time. It's probably not noticeable to anyone else, but I can see clear improvements as I learn new tricks. Clearest example is the border sides in the Reward frame of the second image, very obvious where I copy/pasted without knowing how to smooth out the colour gradient. Will need to go back and redo that one :P

Frozen Wasteland Review:

Difficulty level is about equal to a "skull quest" --I'm doing 30 second runs with Max Cyborg.
With a good farming Eddie, you can level up your 2nd-tier toons. Don't waste the XP.
Decent gold farming-- about 6835 gold per run. Equivalent to Powerslave, but higher SoT.

Sands of Time Return: I started at 9:30am today, with 1200 SoT. It's 11:30am and I should be done with 120 runs (30 seconds + load time), but I still have 500 SoT. Azagthor says "Sands of Time drop rates run costs average out to 6 SoT" and I can confirm that my runs have cost about 5.8333 so far.

I will update with: # of hours, approx. runs per 1200 SoT investment, and the Rewards that dropped.

And, yes, if you DON'T have "every toon ever released" the team recommendations aren't really helpful?
Well.... I've said it in the past, that the goal is basically to get the MAJOR NEW toons from each event, in order to be able to accomplish the next event.
The company creates newer OP toons to be used in future events and already exisisting levels of the game. Just when you think you're gonna dominate in gauntlet because you finally got some LoL's Maxed,..... then you start getting matches w/ Dark Lilith & Lucifer, or Dark Lilith in 3 of the 5 matches.

If one is not staying current, it's easy to fall behind.
They are marketing gamers on their "Fear of Missing Out." They are counting on gamers taking the shortcut and spending money.
I myself spend minimal these days, but have to invest the majority of my time.

As far as team recommendations, the threads "Documenting" dungeons was originally to give gamers who can't afford or are not advanced enough to run those dungeons, a sneak peak at the awesome graphics or insight as to the rewards of playing them.
The "recommendations" are just a suggestion as to how to succeed, since so many are usually looking for the solution. Most of my thread's suggestions I got from different gamers and then made it easier to find for others.

With all the different experience levels, relics, talisman, toons that all the different gamers could possibly have, there's no way anyone could devise a team that everyone could accomplish the event dungeons with, especially Insanity levels.

Ultimately gamers will have to think for themselves, use SoT, etc. to trial and error in order to discover what works for them. That's what the advanced guys do to come up with the "sure thing."
For anyone looking to pop on the forum and just have the ideal team handed to them, needs to remember, people like Deathbat, Stormseye, Azagthor, and myself.... we don't get paid.
It ultimately comes down to being a group effort.

I will say if anyone is struggling, they can request that someone check out their team and make recommendations. I do it in my threads, plus other contributors will do it too.

... and once again.... it's all just a "suggestion." 😁

Yup

Hey Bakura, I think what I said came out different than what I was thinking. Apologies, if so. The great thing about this game/community is all the awesome players, like yourself, who are volunteering their time to provide info.

I think you once recommended a team to me, and I immediately replied, "I don't have ANY of those characters or talismans!" --which wasn't directed at you, personally. It can just be a little discouraging for new players, BUT-- those recommendations can help identify what resources to plan on getting. A few months and a few dollars later, it IS possible to catch up --by getting "the latest and greatest" starting as soon as you can.

...

Update: I forgot to write down my starting point on 3* bricks, but my original 1200 SoT ran until the server update at 1pm. At 1:32 I started another 1200 SoT, and will document exact gold and brick totals in about 2.5 hours.

No, you're ok. I like you man.... you've always been funny and cool. I apologize if I came off as being harsh. But you brought up something Azagthor and I discussed previously.
There are some (not you) who seem to think they need to have it handed to them, or they want others to hold their hands for them. But it all comes down to figuring stuff out. That's the challenge.

As I told Azagthor..... I don't pretend to be an authority on anything, nor some sort of guide, but I like sharing with others, and if my hard efforts and wasted ironite can save others the hassle, then mission accomplished.
Kinda like the "Scrubbing Bubbles" commercial says.... "We work hard so you don't have tooooo..."

I appreciate the guys who have the means to get the latest toons & talis, and resources to do the newest dungeons, all the while sharing with others, cuz they end up pioneering new frontier and saving others much time and effort.

Ngl, I would still love for someone to hand it all to me, and tell me exactly what to do! But that's not possible unfortunately, so community-driven discussion threads like this will have to do! :P

The way characters are acquired in this game, the rng gacha system, does make it difficult for new players to get started with events and dungeons. There isn't a store where players can buy low-level characters (by the time you can afford stuff in the Frontier store, you've probably got a decent idea of how things work), they just have to get lucky. Makes team recommendations difficult, you can't say "Go buy this and that 3*/4* character". Next best thing is to suggest ability/buff/debuffs that would be helpful to have.

1st/2nd 1200 SoT: Ran about 3/3.75 hours. If you are doing fast runs (30 seconds) you can spend 2400 SoT to complete the 8-hour timer.

2nd 1200 SoT, 1.17mil Gold. So, about 585k gold per mega refill.

2nd 1200 SoT, 3* Bricks:

Red - 110
Green - 107
Purple - 91
Blue - 8
Yellow - 7

So, about 50 each - red/green/purple, 3.75 each - yellow/blue, per mega refill.

1st/2nd 1200 Sot, 7/8 Rare souls. So, about 93.75 Epic frags per mega refill.

1st/2nd 1200 Sot, 3/2 skill shards. So, about 1.25 skill shards per mega refill.

...

Glad I got that over with. Babysitting an 8-hour timer was nerve wracking.

k so this isn't as nice as ur guide azagthor, but as far as madness goes here's a list of the wave characters and their tali's from left to right:
wave 1: w.hellhound: echo/grail, m.pyro soldier: present/tower, a.undead axis gunner: hex/warlord, m.pyro soldier: present/tower, w.hellhound: echo/grail

wave 2: s.pyro soldier: avenger/power, m.axis soldier: destiny/shell, s.pyro soldier: avenger/grail

wave 3: w.angel: siege/sacred, m.angel: sustaining/gate, g.angel: gravity/greed, a.angel: persecution/venom, s.angel: serenity/blind

wave 4: a.axis soldier: serenity/venom, g.pyro soldier: gravity/banner, a.axis soldier: serenity/venom

wave 5: a.child of the damned: starfire, g. child: rider/grail, beelzebub: nightmare, w.child: immunity/viper, m.child: gate/sustaining.

k so this last wave i killed a. child 1st with my single hitter to get rid of that damn starfire talisman effect, then took out beelzebub who's not boss again, with the last 3 the warrior child of the damned was killed by reflect dmg from my wrathchild when g.child attacked which ended the fight, so i'm assuming w.child is boss as he was 1st of last 3 to fall and as soon as he did the fight ended.
also the wave with 5 angels can be dangerous has they get stacks of healths that can keep them alive for a bit, and wave 4 all 3 start with perfect health shield (1 turn) that w.lol removes with his power so i'm assuming killer beast can as well.
only fought madness once but 1st time gives u 1 skillshard, 1 epic soul, 200 tali frags, and 25 ironite

hope this helps

At first I just didn't notice that. But after seeing my team actually taking damage I thought "wait... Here's something wrong".

Madness surely puts the difficulty level higher but is not that rough. All characters have new and improved talismans and definitely those starfire on the last wave may be tricky to deal with.

As for rewards they seem to be 2x hard difficulty. So two times the shards and all the rest. Sot return though seems a lot lower

k so the rewards seem to change from time to time as keeping track of mutliple 2 sot refills the 3* colored evo rune increases and decreases each of these refills where from the 1st refill i got 22 red 3* evo's and 12 purple 3* but on the next it was 32 red 3*evo, 22 green 3* but 4 red. each rd gives 10,797 gold

Here's a list of what rewards i got with 280 sot's (not counting sot's i get after each match):
1 rare soul, 80 icy tali frags, 1 skill shard, 32 purple 3* evo, 10 red 3* evo, 22 green 3* evo, 6 t1 2* evo, 4 t2 2* evo, 2 t3 2* evo, 6 t1 1* evo, 2 t2 1* evo, and 48 sow's.

Popped a key, and am burning through some SoT to check it out. Initial impression isn't great though. Think I'll track 40 runs, and then put together the Enemy Wave/Talisman image, and maybe write up something short about the differences in drops. 40 runs isn't enough to get anything statistically significant, but it's enough to let me know if it's worth me spending any more ironite on refills.

I've had 3 defeats in 35 runs, all related to those Starfires. I have Forge talismans on my team, which prevent the Starfires from killing me, although their Perfect Corruption stops me from gaining the Perfect Heal Shield. My team can usually kill everyone else without much trouble. Unfortunately the boss, the Red CotD, has Vipers, and if he counter attacks my 1HP Eddie, it's game over. Will need to come up with a safer auto-team...

Update: The Madness stage does not currently count towards the talisman-wearing achievements.

been running on auto every match after the 1st run to get the info, i haven't lost with any of my teams (the one from a earlier post) and i currently am running with a.ww with forge/ cosmic; this team takes way longer than have the beast with forge/cosmic; i'll try normal cyborg later instead of bhe. I've also switched bhe's talismans from before to valhalla and t3 cyborg tali. the valhalla tali i switched in due to seeing a couple characters die in final rd if its not a single hitter taking out the a.child but with that the valhalla has been reviving the 2 that die. the 1st team none of my team dies but thats when bhe was taking out the a.child

so if ur going for the achievements for this dungeon for some reason its not recognizing the madness difficulty so it will not count, have put in a ticket for this but considering the current event mess that'll likely be a bit till a response

Hmmm, I'm doing a few Hard runs, and something doesn't feel right about these drops. I know things can change without warning in games like these, but considering I tracked over a thousand runs to come up with the drop rates I used in this guide, seeing the differences is rather deflating? I really hope no one ended up being disappointed after reading my Reward section, getting excited they'll finally be able to catch-up on various resources, only to discover how harshly some of them were nerfed.

I'm not quite sure what to do about this. This used to be the only place newish players could reliably get Frontier Coins... this really sucks?

Had similar rates to you today. Only 15FC from 40 Madness and 30 Hard victories. Would be so nice if this was a mistake, like when the dungeon accidentally opened for only two hours instead of the full eight a couple of weeks back. And if it's not a mistake, devs, please consider reverting these changes. This dungeon was originally a wonderful way for beginner/intermediate players to catch-up, but these changes remove that option, and reinforce the huge gulf players need to cross to reach end-game and be able to participate fully in events.

Anyway, here is what you can expect to find in Madness. The Starfires are the main obstacle in the final wave, and the Vipers can also cause some trouble.

Not so much watered down, as utterly destroyed. I'm seriously disappointed, I was only able to get Killer Prime because of Frozen Wasteland, and now other players are going to struggle even more than I did.

It's not a bad dungeon.. just a slightly harder with slightly better rewards. But then.. double the SOT.

The Madness drops still worse than the original Hard drop rates, given the SoT costs. From a few hours testing yesterday, it appears some of the drop rates from the original Hard were transferred over to the new Madness. For example, the Cosmic Evo Runes, which was a 75% chance in the previous Hard, is roughly 75% in Madness, and to compensate, it's been dropped down to 33% in the revamped Hard. Perhaps if the cost was 15 SoT, it wouldn't be so egregious?

Idk, it's possible this dungeon will still be useful for players who quickly need to get some Red, Green, and Purple evo bricks, or need a couple of cosmic evo runes. It'll become a niche dungeon, not something to eagerly look forward to with future Skull Quest events.

Last month there was a Skull Quest event where these keys could drop. These keys are ONLY available during Skull Quest events

Yeah, the dungeon is a permanent addition to the game, but they keys are event-limited. I'd assumed this was how they justified the good drop rates, as you couldn't buy more keys like you can with other dungeons.

Yeah, like Beddie said, Raven's altar is probably the only place where you can farm them (except for the regular weekly Magus LoL Level). There's still no specific frontier dungeon for Maugs shards, but who knows, maybe a new Magus dungeon will come in january (for the alchemist evo materials and for blue shards)

(I may even swallow my pride and update the drop rate section. If anyone wants to help out by recording what dropped over how many runs, feel free to message me. Either drops from each individual run, and bulk before and after numbers will help. Give me a bit of time and I'll even come up with a spreadsheet you can use to track drops with if you're interested.)

Awesome, I've added that to the Madness post. Thanks! What sort of run speeds are you getting?

I've been having decent success with this team. Average around 1:20, depending on the bat phase. The yellow ghost with vipers feels more reliable than the Prisoner, he can hold his own if the enemy manages to avoid Passive Disable, where the Prisoner was dead weight.

Sentinel Onyx Son - Celestial
W. Ghost of Christmas Giving - Forge

Updated a few bits in the Madness section yesterday, including a missing talisman icon.

Then, for Science and the Greater Good, I popped a key, threw away a couple hundred ironite, and recorded the drops from 100 runs in both difficulties. Enough runs to come up with some reasonable-looking drop patterns, but also enough runs for a 1/100 chance to prove my hypothesis wrong! Still, it doesn't have to be perfect, just "good enough" to give people an idea of what to expect. Will comb over it this evening, and should be able to update the rewards sections either tonight or tomorrow. Depending how detailed I want to get... you have no idea how excited I get when I believe I've found mutually exclusive drops :p

What are the reward drop rates in madness?

About the same as hard was. But after 4 hrs so far farming, I noticed very small amount of ironite return its depleting it fast.

SOT return is very low, hardly any frontier coin, I remember it giving a generous amount before. I guess for fc you have to farm the trooper dungeon now.

Bricks, about 4 per run, and 11000 gold. Overall not that great, they really destroyed it, this was great before. For 20 SOT per and very little SOT given back I won't be farming this too much, can't afford the ironite.

Smudger24

Yeah, sounds like they ruined it.

Well, if your getting double frags from grinding a certain area, or a particular dungeon's rewards are helping evolve your team.... well that gets fixed quickly.

But when bugs in arena inflict yourself w/ pass. disable, or your serenity tals allow silver debuffs, or talis enable a toon to have infinite attacks in a row, or your whole team w/ labs gets destroyed before your 1st turn, or singularities allow pass disable after 1st turn, or thorn talis never inflict heal block.... well, maybe that will get fixed..... one day..... maybe.
I'm just saying.....

I'm merely curious.... Why? Is there something there you want?

The SOT is better spent in other dungeons. There's nothing unique to the Frozen dungeon. The Frozen dungeon, when it first appeared, was a fantastic place to catch up on evo stones or runes and collect ironite etc.. but since they've lowered drop rates horribly, its's really not worth running, unless you CAN'T run other dungeons due to missing characters or keys.

Should have something to share later today. There are some interesting patterns here. More interesting than the rewards themselves...

This mathes my research pretty well. Four guaranteed 3* evo shards each run. ~80% chance for a pair of cosmic evo runes, of any of the six varieties. 1*T1 being the most common. 5SoT and 3SoW drops pretty common, but at 20SoT a run, the SoT returns (and ironite) don't help too much. Ironite, Skills Shards, Rare Souls, Frontier Coins, and Talisman Fragments though... don't expect much.

It's okay for cosmic evo runes and red/green/purple bricks. Although I don't know how it compares with other Frontier dungeons for those things in terms of SoT investment.

8 hours is a long time, but given the rewards aren't anything special, there is little pressure to "make the most" of the time. Get int a few runs here and there, use up some naturally refreshed SoT. Certainly made it easier for me to write down the results of each individual run, not having to worry how much time that was losing me :p

Not sure if anyone else has written this, but is anyone else having troubles keeping auto play going on madness? After almost every run it stops.
Was it always the same wave for you? The 3rd one, with the bats, can slow down a lot.

Azagthor
01-12-2020, 09:50 AM
Have updated the rewards section. Red, Green, Purple evo shards, Cosmic evo runes, and SoW are the main reason you'd do this dungeon. Not great reasons, but still reasons. If the SoT costs were reduced, it would be a different story. 8SoT for Hard, 12SoT for Madness, putting it inline event dungeons, would make the Frozen Wasteland more appealing.

If anyone is interested in a summary of my raw data (rather than the massive spreadsheet), here are the bulks drops from 100 runs in each difficulty.

7437 7438

I believe I've teased out the pattern used for drops here, but still working on a way to visualise it into a nice flowchart. The most interesting thing about this dungeon is while the cosmic evo runes are NOT guaranteed, they can only drop ONCE per run.

Super rough summary:
Hard = 2 Icy Frags + 2 Evo Bricks + 0-3 additional rewards.
Madness = 5 Icy Frags + 4 Evo Bricks + 0-4 additional rewards.

Azagthor, the autoplay would stop when the countdown page is supposed to pop up. It played all the way through the victory and prize screens, then ask if you want to play again instead of counting down.

I found to get auto to work again I had the reboot the game. Then it worked fine. I don't know what started it but it did it 4 times to me in the 8 hrs.

Okay.. well I found it HIGHLy UNentertaining...

Every battle has OP talismans, from Ragarok, to Yggrellll, Forge, Metal, Starfire, Inspiration.... some battles with 6 enemies (like the last battle) have these in combinations. And MOST battles start with perfect health on all enemies.

Because Prince Wrath, Prince Beelzebub, Beast are "bosses" they can't be doomed or passive disabled....

This is a devs special...... "hey it'd be cool if we used every damn overpowered thing we could find". IT's NOT designed for players to run and have fun with.. nooooo... it's designed to suck up ironite and hopefully get you to revive as often as possible.

This is quite possibly the WORST dungeon set up I've seen yet in terms of playability. I thought the original Powerslave boss battle was overpowered.. well this whole dungeon puts that battle shame. What you can configure to get past Prince Wrath, won't let you get past Prince Beelzebub... or wont' let you survive the last battle with all 6 OP characters and talismans. It's a dungeon specifically configured to be impossible even if you have the same character and the same OP talismans. Because they BOOST stats of the enemies in dungeons.

ElvisIsDead
02-27-2020, 07:05 PM
What is the point of this dungeon?

The insane level is by far the most challenging in the game, the rewards are terrible, and the only unique drops are the icy talisman frags, but if you collect enough of them you can get a soul that will reward you with... a BLUE cosmic talisman? BLUE!?!

When the dungeon first launched, blue talismans were barely useful to me. Now they are completely obsolete. Due to the fact that upgrade materials are rarer than cosmic talismans, it just isn't worth wasting them on anything less than purple.

Interesting, seems they wanted to make something to really push the players who are asking for more and more challenge!

Not sure I've seen a fight with more than one Boss character in the same wave before. Are you sure that's what causing the immunity to passive disable? No talismans or passives, or even bugs, that could be causing it?

Also, sorry to ask what might be a stupid question, but I've seen a couple of people mention fights against 6 enemies. I've only ever seen 5 enemies though? Is this a common typo, or a graphical bug or something?

I had to double check some talisman, so went back in a second time, wrote down what I needed from the first wave, and hit auto. Expected it to be over quickly, but somehow managed an 8m30s victory?

The First Time Reward is: 1 Skill Shard, 1 Epic Soul, 400 Talisman Frags, and 35 Ironite. Not bad.

I've been told each run drops 20 Icy Tali Frags, which means you'd only need 25 runs for each talisman.

It might be an aesthetic mistake, but the frame is intentional. This is the fancy version (the ones you see in the Store) on the Compendium.
7887

The image of some future talisman designs the devs shared on social media a couple of weeks back features these two which also have the squished frames. We'll be seeing more of them in the future. I'm sure we'll get used to them eventually.

As for the level, I've managed to beat it three times now using a trooper's Max Cyborg. ...10-15min manually. It is super slow, Yggdrasil talismans, DP Wrath going invulnerable, Beelz's damage immunities, etc.

Celestials on Dark Claire, Forges on Red Ghost, & Ragnaroks on Yellow Ghost. Max Cyborg's fury draining Fury is wonderful against the Max Beast, as his Fury removes all beneficial effects, which can ruin the Forge's Perfect Heal Shield.

While it's not team you can farm with, if you only want the First Time Reward, it might be an ok starting point.

Now that you say that, probably a set for Virtual XI Ed (perhaps alongside an awakenable version of him)

Can someone help me with this, I feel I'm missing something. What is the purpose of running the frozen dungeon?

The rewards are not that good, you can get them from other better dungeons. I find the ironite return rate not good compared to those other dungeons. You collect frags to get the second lowest talisman of the color grades. I've finished the tali wearing achievements. And now they added a near impossible dungeon to still get next to nothing in return.

Not trying to be negative about it, just wondering if someone could tell me the plus side of running this dungeon, other then during event challenges or finishing the achievements.

Frozen dungeon WAS designed to be a useful dungeon for lower to mid tier players to get various materials very easily.

Then they added madness for some people who wanted more of a challenger with better rewards.

Now, with no provocation what so ever, they added an insanity level for people who want to torture themselves

It depends upon how far you are into the app. It's kind of a pointless dungeon once you get past a certain point. Unless you REALLY want those icy cosmic shards rather than the plethora of blue cosmics you'll get from everywhere else. I mean, it's not like blue cosmics are rare. There's not really any great return since they nerfed the rewards. IT WAS great at first..... but they couldn't actually leave it great for long.

Smudger24
02-29-2020, 09:32 PM
But they dropped the payout of materials. When it started it was and awesome dungeon. Now it just eats ironite for 8 hrs.

Yup
02-29-2020, 09:36 PM
Yeah, when the first introduced it, it was fantastic, then they made it pointless for many players.

There's value in it if you can't run the cosmic dungeons. I mean if you don't have 5 star characters, cosmic dungeons are off limits and the Frozen dungeon may be your only way to get cosmic frags.

But they could have left the returns good, cuz it was rare to get the keys. But I have 25 of them now and no reason I can think of to use them.

I do see the point of it being for new players. But new players couldn't do anything but the lowest level too. I just find it a very strange dungeon.

You WOULD think that the rewards for the insanity level would actually be more geared towards end players since the battles certainly are.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Clearly there isn't much thought to who would play these dungeons and given the difficult of the levels, what rewards should be.

But then again... maybe there will be some massive reward at a later date.

In any event, I'm really just collecting keys because at the moment, there's no point to it for me. But there's little point to the story mode or BNW either.. so.....

Yeah, Frozen is in a bit of an odd place at the moment. Can still be a useful place to farm cosmic evolution runes for people who can't reliably farm the more difficult dungeons. Otherwise, it seems mostly for events/achievements. The 8 hour run time and hard modes' 10SoT cost work well for the "Run 500 Frontier Dungeons While Wearing X Talisman" type of achievement.

A new Skull Quest event (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?13214-Cursed-Flames-(Skull-Quest-Cosmos)-Battle-for-The-Wicker-Man-amp-Grimoire-Fragments!) has begun, and contains the official announcement of the Insanity level, and the addition of the Frozen Keys to the Frontier Store. They're going to be 150FC each.

Let's hear some more Insanity teams, what have you folks put together that can reliably beat it?

If you don't care about time, here's a team that's slowly taking me to that 25 goal with no losses (so far) on auto

- Lilith nightmoon (mark+serenity)
- Max cyborg ed (T3 cyborg+serenity+sacred)
- Moonchild (labyrinth+cosmic [I have echo on mine])
- Charlotte (Ragnarok+cosmic [I have life on mine but just because it was there by default])

Average time is 5:00. Fastest run 4:39

I got around 13/14 runs with no losses

R1ck doesn't mention the talismans. I run the same team with these talismans:

Cyborg T3, Serenity, sacred
Labyrinth, Red T2
Forge, Red T2
Ragnarok, Red T2

Best time so far: 3:25, but usually hovering around 4:00-4:30

Frozen Wastland Insanity is a trick to deplete our Ironite, time and patience. Even with strech goal. It takes as much ironite as LoL XV and gives nearly nothing back. It supposed to be reward dungeon. Grind Talisman Dungeon or LoL XV instead. The return is much better.

Yeah, those Red T2's have been dropping... I love'em, their pretty much like a purple T3.

Frozen Wastland ....

I haven't played this dungeon since the first event it launched. Back then, I could run it for 8 hours and hardly spend ironite w/ shards & rewards dropping like rain.

Since then, all the reviews by players make it sound deplorable.

It went from the BEST dungeon ever, to the WORST!

I think I have about 50 keys.... just piling up.

It is an almost pointless dungeon nowadays (as are several others I never use unless I have to for an event) and not done it for a long time and wont be starting either. I do not see the point in having al of these dungeons if they are of no benefit to the player other than when they are used in an event.

It is essentially a way to use up your ironite - that would not be so bad if the rewards were better - but they simply are not.

I do nto mind spending ironite but the rewards have to be worth it - if the ironite back was maybe half and half or so that might work but we just need to get more back for the cost is my view.

You don't find LoL XV drain a lot of ironite. There's no question the payout is far better, but I find it killer on ironite.

It is. But it gives back more Ironite and SoT per run. One refill gives 4-5 runs in Frozen Madness. It's about the same as LoL XV.

So I ran frozen wasteland through 2 mega refills today just to finish the talisman wearing achievements. After the runs I feel like the dungeon isn't all that bad. Sure they nerfed the sot / ironite return, but running this dungeon is much better than running LOL X levels as every run guarantees 2 evo shards for the same 10 sot cost. I can't comment on madness and insanity levels, but hard is good enough if you want some evo shards and sands of war. The cosmic evo material is also nice as otherwise I have to play the much harder cosmic talisman dungeon.

K, started Insanity. First run only 10:32!!!
Then I realized I was missing a cosmic on Wickerman (he died) and had to finish the last 2 levels of awakening him before trying again.
2nd run 4:30 or so, third was 3:43, 4th was 4:14 (Wickerman died again)

Using R1ck's suggested team with Cthulhu's suggested talismans, except using BHE instead of Cyborg because I'm too lazy to swap those talismans.
As long as I'm not getting the wins I'll leave it as-is.

----- Update - after 8 wins I lost 3 in a row. Restarted game and all seems well again.

-- Ok, after 2 hours I'm done with the 25 runs. Seems the final Starfire was killing me a bit and something in maybe the 2nd round? Was on autopilot while I tried to work so couldn't watch too closely for deaths.

Still, 2 hours isn't that bad, and I never want to run this again until I find a better team. 900 SoT used.

Yeah, when we're able to put aside our disappointment, Frozen Hard is probably the best place for any sort of "Run X Frontier Dungeons" event challenge. The dungeon is still also one of the better places for SoW, Madness looks better than the Trooper Dungeon so far.

Still too early to say much about Insanity though. Anyone had anything unexpected drop from it yet?

Time is MUCH better served running the Raven's Alter if you want Grimoire frags. Just forget about the Frozen wasteland.. run Night City or Powerslave for those achievements. Cheaper in terms of SOT and the drops will give you items you aren't really getting anywhere else any more.. 2 star runes, etc.

And the Trooepr dungeon seems to yeild the most SOW for grinding.

I'm still struggling to find ANY reason to run Frozen Wasteland since they nerfed the rewards there.

I am running powerslave for the event missions. I was talking about "run frozen wasteland with venom, heal, tranquility talismans" achievements that was added back when this dungeon was first introduced. I had 100 runs left in those. Decided to finish them now because the runs count for the event as well.

I don't know if it's my Lenovo tablet's capabilities but I've never had issues with any other dungeon. Not sure if this is the cause, but fully awakened Cyborg Eddies do occasionally cause trouble when fighting against enemies that have passive which cause characters to revive. One of the angel bats has a passive like that, which might be causing the problem. Did you have the same trouble when using a different Eddie?

Revisiting the Frozen Wasteland sure is a walk down memory lane! Both the Madness and Insanity stages have received various changes over the past year, and the current Renewed Faith event has finally given me the motivational kick I needed to update their dungeon images. I've replaced them in the main guide, and also posting there here. The main changes are to the Insanity stage, and it should be much easier for people to handle now, rather than the true nightmare it was when first released.

Madness:
9311

Insanity:
9310

The written guide is horribly out of date I'm sure, and will remain that way for a while longer, but I wanted to at least update the main images so people can have an accurate idea of what challenges they'll be facing.
