Excess 3* Characters

I’m looking to clear out some room in the character inventory.
Which 3* characters are expendable? Which are useful?

All of them bar a few needed for Dungeons. Look at the Frontier Key Dungeon Cheat Sheet post for the ones to keep.

^ If they're mentioned on the Cheat Sheet, lock them right away!

I know character inventory limits are difficult to handle early on, but do try to keep a copy of every 3* character. Just because they're not useful currently, doesn't mean they wont be useful in the future. In general, if a character has a decent chance to deal status effects or grant buffs, they can be useful for "Use X Effect" style events.

It seems that it would be wiser to invest in extra character slots rather than lose characters.
