Welcome to the News Frontier!

This week we have a very special treat! Durandal has been crafting his playbook for Raid Boss - Odin. At the time of writing this, even I have not seen it.

Speaking of Odin, we have talked with a lot of you this week regarding some of the issues that you have come up against while battling in this new feature.

Here are the main player reported issues.

7987

1- Hang and Sands of Blood loss when trying to start a Battle

This is happening on the Raid Boss select screen. The hang occurs and forces the player to reboot the game. When the player returns, the team and Sands of Blood have been consumed.

2- Combat freezes during Odin Battle.

Occurring most often in battles that are longer and drawn out. Players will continue to fight Odin until neither team can take any more actions. Players can still manually exit the battle using the in-game options menu.

3-Delayed Rewards on the Players device.

Players have been reporting that they are not receiving their rewards for participating in Raid Boss. We have been able to confirm that the rewards are being deposited in the correct accounts, however they are not visible until a cache refresh has been completed.

For now, leave it to the team to research these issues and make the necessary changes. We do have an Official Forum Thread for reporting issues that will be linked later on in this post.

But now, the moment you have all been waiting for... The triumphant return of Durandal's...

Weekend Warrior: Raid Boss Rumble

Odin It To Win It

Steel yourselves, Troopers, for an electrifyingly god shattering edition of Weekend Warrior. Since the launch of Raid Boss Beta, clans from around the globe have come knocking on Odin's door to prove their worth. After enduring bone chilling winds and a thunderous display of strength, the most tactical of clan members have been quick to devise key strategies to knock the All Father off his throne. If you find yourself struggling to put a dent in his armor, then take heed of these tips to help you avoid a royal pain in the rompedeler.

Bundle Up, It's Cold In There

Against Odin's myriad of offensive abilities, you will want to think carefully about balancing your team around specific needs. Whose job is it to reliably remove Odin's defensive effects? Who will keep your party safe from Odin's increasing damage? Who can quickly and efficiently clear negative effects? Damage is important, yes, but you'll be hard pressed to deal much at all if you allow your characters to fall victim to Odin's relentless Freeze, Stun and Passive Disable effects.

When it comes to healing, Heal Shield and Perfect Heal Shield are highly strategic against Odin. Even if they're removed, they'll still block damage and heal you before they're gone. The key is to make sure you can apply these effects every turn if possible. Sacred Talismans are helpful, but look for characters who can offer these effects with their basic attacks.

While Odin can shut down Singularity Talismans, there's always Necropolis and Metal Talismans as a means of dealing with Passive and Perfect Disable. However, since these options are limited, a stronger strategy would be to pick characters whose effectiveness relies more on basic attacks, power abilities and fury attacks than on passives.

As for his freeze and stun effects, things can get tricky. While some characters will passively protect you from these ailments, you may find more success in clearing these effects through the use of talismans (time to dust off those Snow Talismans). Grail, Fortune and any other set that helps you remove or transform negative effects, especially after taking damage or at the start of your turn, can keep your team primed to act.

Damage To The Max...HP

Since the application of negative effects is a non-factor against Odin, you'll want to focus on dealing as much damage as possible with every attack. Since Odin has a maximum threshold of damage received per hit, you'll want to look out for characters that hit a few checkboxes.

First, you'll want to find characters who can deal damage based on the target's MAX HP. Odin has a massive health pool befitting of a god of his stature and despite his rapidly scaling defenses, you'll always land massive damage if you can take advantage of his health values.

If you notice that your fellow clanmates have already taken a large chunk out of his health, the next thing you'll want to consider is damage based on MISSING HP. This works similarly to damage based on MAX HP, but relies on an already-injured target. Save these characters for when Odin has received some damage already.

Finally, keep a close eye on the number of individual hits your characters can deal. Since Odin will cap out how much damage you can deal per hit, you'll want to consider characters that can hit as many times as possible with each attack. Pairing these attacks with beneficial effects like Armor and Magic Penetration as well as effects that boost your ATK and MAGIC stats, you'll be shredding Odin down to size in no time.

It's Good To See You, Old Friend(s)

An element that makes Raid Boss so interesting is that you can get a surprising amount of value out of older and seemingly weaker characters that might have been collecting dust for a while. For example...http://www.news.maiden-lotb.com/n3/character-en/dark-voidling-assassin/

"Wait, Durandal, are you seriously about to suggest that a wimpy 2-star character is worth bringing into battle against a FREAKIN' GOD?!"

First of all, how dare you mock this brave little voidling. It's finally time for him to shine! Secondly, yes - sort of. Since you'll be focused on very specific character attributes, it becomes less necessary to bring in what would be traditionally the best and most complex characters. Odin cares not for your cascading negative effects! Sometimes, a simple character with the right set of abilities (in the case of this voidling, a basic attack that can repeatedly deal hits of damage based on MAX HP) can provide all the value you need. Let Raid Boss be your opportunity to bring new life to some old characters you may have long since forgotten about, especially considering that you'll want to keep your best for last as you work your way up the floors.

Baa Baa Banshee

Speaking of increased value from unsuspecting characters, many players have been quick to discover how valuable the 4-star Banshee characters have been, especially the Sentinel variant. These badass chicks have always packed a punch, but coupled with their new unique Cosmic Talisman featured in this month's Nameless Nights Mega Event, they'll bring the kind of heat you'll need to defrost Odin's ego.

For example, you can use Sentinel Banshee's basic attack, "Buzz Saw" to strip Odin of his most prominent defenses before dealing damage based on his MAX HP. You'll leave him running, man. Equipped with her signature talisman, she'll protect your team from stun effects and grant them Perfect Heal Shield every turn! The best part is, if Odin manages to finally take her down, she'll revive with even stronger effects. Definitely a must have for any god killer!

It's Team Effort, After All

At the heart of it all, this is a challenge that will put your entire clan to the test. Don't be shy to coordinate with your fellow clan mates when you see that Odin, at any difficulty, is sitting at a low amount of health. Make an effort to tell your teammates when you'll be attacking Odin to keep everyone informed. It will be good to know who is already finishing off a weakened Odin so that the next person can work on preparing for a fresh battle.

Raid Boss Beta Official Feedback Thread

With any luck, these tips will help to give you an edge against this first mighty foe. The team here at Navigator Games wants to make tackling these bosses exciting and memorable for all who choose to step up to the challenge and we want to give you all an opportunity to contribute along the way.

Over the course of the coming months, we'll be actively investigating and discussing any feedback that is shared across our various channels of communication. We'll be looking at everything from bug reports to general feedback about the feature. While we're already working on a number of sweet new improvements, don't be shy to share what you think would make it more fun for you and your fellow troopers.

As a way to streamline how and where we can find your feedback, please consider posting in our official thread for Raid Boss feedback. If you have bugs to report, try to include as many details as possible to help us reproduce your experience. If it's general feedback, all is welcome. You can find the thread here: https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?13228-Raid-Boss-Update-Discussion (https://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?13228-Raid-Boss-Update-Discussion)

That's all from me this time around. May your battles be thunderous and your victories be glorious - good luck out there, Troopers! Durandal out.

Hey Ceeg, how about the clan leaders that have left the game? I would like some feedback on what we should do, or if you could remove those leaders in the future.

So..one time using a perfect team against Odin and then we can only use crap teams, because of limitations.
Boring!

There are at least 2 good teams.... and if you have duplicate characters... as many good teams as you want. While characters are deactivated after use, duplicates are npt. it's not the Gauntlet.

Yeah, my last five attempts have been hangs at the Battle screen, wasting the same amount of Bloods and benching twenty characters. Not to mention all the lost rewards. This is fun beyond comparison.

It would be nice to have rewarded frags highlighted in the BoS, so we could at least see that we earned something. Unless you pay close attention you wont know if you earned gold or FC.

It's possible that your leader has taken an extended break. If anyone in the clan knows them personally, it could be worth having them reach out to find out if they don't mind transferring clan ownership. I can see if I'm able to reach out to them as well.

I'm surprised you're not vouching for Osiris as a candidate for a healthy dose of awakening goodness. If you were to give him a boost, what would you change or add? (No, I'm not secretly announcing an Osiris awakening, I just think he's a cool dude with a mean attitude.)

I didn't mentioned Osiris to not sound like a megalomaniac (hey, it's my nickname after all) ;)

Aside joking, this is a question I really enjoy answering as an Egyptian mythology nerd. Osiris is good, cool and tough in same time. One of the most interesting part of his lore is focused especially on reviving. He is the first revived one on earth, by his wife Goddess Aset. You guys did a great job with skill matching when he got released (revives with basic attack like a boss), but of course meta is a whole other beast today and he certainly needs a boost that matches his attitude.

What I would boost...:

Basic attack:

- Nowadays we see unstoppable versions of debuffs/buffs, like inevitable stun, silence, immunity types.. How about giving him an inevitable buff: he can inevitably revive regardless of any condition how an ally died or something else blocking it (with some exit/special condition that doesn't put him into an endless loop)? It would make sense, knowing only Lord of the dead can bring someone died with doom / perfect death back to the life. + I would include silver effects cleansing as well.

Power move:

- I would try to tweak this move that gives a real endurance vs today's meta (can be a type of damage immunity) + lower the power cost to 6 + do some painful damage to match that mean and cool attitude. He is the judge, so he can punish the enemies. He can boost allies and do damage in same time, he is a God why can't he live on? ;)

Passive:

- To start with, turning buffs into their golden version has a current problem: even you have infinite blue buff, it still transforms it into a 2 turn golden buff. I would make the all blue buffs infinite and golden here at some point of awakening. Possibly with a condition.

I can give a very lore focused suggestion. It is related to Goddess Aset. Make him and Aset work together in a special way when they are in the same team, like you did with Gemini twins. Emphasizing a hope for a boost on Aset here too (I can also share some ideas about how I would boost her).

After all, their story is mind blowing and they are very bound to each other. Only a real loving goddess can collect your shattered body pieces from allover the Egypt, can revive you then give you a son named Horus. That's probably what Osiris was thinking about her. What a family! Hope this helps ;)

Heck yeah, Ill add my vote to an Aset/Osiris combo!!! Maybe for next valentines day!?

Some absolutely wicked ideas here - thanks for taking some time to spare these thoughts. Perhaps we can agree that the coolest characters are those whose gameplay thematically ties in with their lyrical and historical roots. Here's hoping we get to see something special for those lovebirds down the road.

One also absolutely wicked idea would be this one: To allow us to summon Banshees, through all respective souls.

Me and all my clan members have summoned thousands of rare, epic, legendary, of all types. Today I summoned at least 70 or 80 heroics...Guess what, no banshee..We are talking on thousands of souls here..

OH WAIT, there is a "deal" in the store to get all banshees for 55euros. Darn, how didn't I see this?

It is obvious that someone has tampered with the summoning rate for banshees..

Please Durandal or Ceeg, pass on to the team that those practices are at least sad, not to say, unethical.

Thanks

Thank you for your answer.
Nevertheless, there should be a fail-safe mechanism. Something like, "if leader is gone for 30 days, a co-leader can be chosen, to do administrative stuff, and then after 60 days, demote/kick". Clans should not disband if the leader for whatever reason stops playing the game.

I am fairly certain the hang on start issue is caused by a recent Android System Update that has been pushed over the last few days. Many of my clansman have had the same situation.

As I said on the other thread. I have had this issue on android without that update.

Just like virtually everything else that gets released nowadays, this new feature is broken and I find myself asking "what the hell kind of testing happens and why does nothing work as advertised".

Maybe I'll play this once it eventually gets fixed but as usual I'm left completely disappointed that we got new broken content while the old broken content still hasn't been fixed.

At least it is a free addition to the game. It is frustrating if the game freezes after 15 minutes of play. The freeze at the start of battle doesnt waste your time. The freezes without any clan points earned makes some feel like they are letting thier clan down.

i haven't noticed any freezes on any of my ios devices or on PC via bluestacks, but have had a few issues with connection errors so it doesn't log you've completed a challenge. But it does that anyway which i'm putting that down to bandwidth issues.

There are several game issues.

1. Freeze at start of battle, lose SoB no earned points. Lose toons
2. Freeze during game. Lose SoB. Sometimes you earn sometimes you done. Wasted time. Lose toons.
3. Skips reward screen. Some definetly earn rewards others say no.
4. Skips reward screen, goes to spinning circle. Rewards are questionable. You must logout of game.

Those are what I know of, there may be other variations. The new feature will make you keep previously unwanted or unused toons. It adds another layer of complexity to the game. It does give a clan a goal to achieve each week which encourages player communications.

I agree with this completely. Im not complaining about any of this, I am just trying to supply the proper information to help them fix it.

JUST TO BE CLEAR.... The freeze I am talking about goes as follows....

go to team select screen and set up a team to fight odin. touch "battle" to start the fight. The screen flashes momentarily and the "wave" bar above the boss disappears. The entire screen is unresponsive and you cannot use the phone back button nor the game buttons to leave the team builder screen. You must reboot the game. When you log in, the Blood is used, the team is retired, and you have not gained any raid points nor any rewards. You have not actually entered the fight.

This "freeze" did not happen to me at all until immediately after I installed the latest Android system update on my S10 phone. I am currently on Android build G973USQS3CTB5 Applied March 14 at 8:35AM my local time. Since that time I have not entered a single Odin fight successfully.

I don't give a shit whether the content is old or new. I just want it to work. Beta is not an excuse for poor testing.

I did. Don't hold your breath they are "aware of the issue and know that it can be annoying".

No mention of workarounds, plans to address, or really any sense of urgency. Let's face it, this will just get added to the massive pile of bugs that they still haven't fixed because they can't help themselves to release new content THAT DOESN'T WORK and hasn't been properly tested.
