like my header already says, i'm sure that the active forum readers have recognized the huge number of bots since yesterday, that are spamming every few minutes.
i'm not sure who can make something about it, but this should be banned and a good captcha code should prevent them for doing that.
i cannot follow any forum activity, because the last 20 or so post were made by bots. i hope our little nice forum will stay as clean as it was a few days ago.
have a nice day everybody

Getting really annoying now. Not long ago I clicked on "New Posts" and got greeted with a page full of that rubbish.

On quite a lot of forums I've used over the years the rubbish was generated by legit users ;)
At least the mods are getting rid of the spam in good time. Tighter Captcha needed for forum signup maybe?

yeah there is some rubbish you cannot do anything about it :D but against the bots a good cpture should do the job. anyway, the mods seems to do a very good job.
thank you for the effort!

what access do you have modcp or admincp? restrict the delay between posts, restrict email confirmation for new registration, those are just basic settings,a lot can be done on vb.
these bots are so old, vb can handle now way more up-to-date bots.
for holidays, set a temporary mod (with move permission only) from one of the senior members.create a subforum called 'recycle bin' only visible to mods.
temp mod will only move those spam thread/posts to 'recycle bin' subforum.Easy temporary solution.(less than 5 mins to perform these steps)
*For advanced solution on cronjobs, you can consult the vb forum...very easy too.

Don't know if Kaijester can do something about it, but it's getting out of hand real fast. Once again, it seems like the devs don't notice something is bugging the community. Lamia and Matt have stopped posting (they still check the forums, but they don't say anything)...

:p Good observation, No clue how much privilege super moderator group was granted.but anyone from administrator group can do that very easily.
how silly! only 1600+ registered members, probably 5% of us are active.and look at the number of admins , mods and huge number of users under weird special groups...lol
yet a community member had to create a thread like this.
