To ensure a fair pvp system it will work as follows.

Each team will have access to one Eddie and two support characters.

The characters will randomly be drawn from your character pool.

The starting player will be random.

Only the winer will receive any kind of reward.

Players will not be able to use troopers in PVP matches.

Battle tokens will be available 80 per day and players can purchase additional tokens for $50.00.

Source?
Random characters means I'll have to have builds for 50 different toons lol. Orr I'll have to delete a bunch which isn't going to happen :/
This will be months away not weeks.

jk. Just kidding. Used at the end of a sentence to make it completely void, therefore contributing nothing to the conversation and wasting everyone's time.

Was a joke the point I'm was making is know one knows how pvp is going to work. We don't know if it will be 3'eddies like normal or just one or if it will be 2 or 3 support characters. I've been seeing lots of plans and predictions about how it will work or how to prepare for it. This is my list of worst case scenarios. I didn't really think any one would take it serious it wasn't ment that way it was ment to provoke thought and speculation.

Yeah man, all these you wrote combined would be a seriously BAD scenario :D

Speculate!

Actually I could pull off a random draw from character pool. They wouldn't be the best but at lest they would have tailismans and be max lvl. A random draw would also compensate for the luck some people have in the rare soul draw department. It would be a hot mess.

I think starting player will be random unless each match is 2 out of 3. Which would be cool.

I would like to see matches set like rift play. It would allow for more skill combos.

I am sure they will have a way to limit pvp matches like battle tokens.

I hope both players will get some reward but I have a feeling only the winner will.

I would like to see ranking system. Because I think i read that the the pairing would be by win loss.

That's a few speculations.

I just feel it's likely going to have the same or very similar mechanics to the current game, and in one of the sneak peaks did we not see tokens? Lol. At first I tried to picture PvP and what it would look like with different mechanics, but the more I've thought about it I'm imagining almost identical mechanics to the current game with a real player instead of AI. And how would I put together the best team I can to dominate the arena with the current mechanics? By starting with the tankiest Eddie I can find and combining him with the most over powered meta skills and allies that are available in the game (cheese), just like every other PvP game in the world does. a defence first approach, because it's always better to not lose than to lose in PvP games. It doesn't matter if you've bored your opponent out if the arena, you've still won. It's not my style of gameplay, but it does in fact win as a strategy over the long haul.
I was trolled :(

These are my thoughts and ideas on how to fairly start a PvP battle:

1. there's a countdown timer on the 'pick your team' page... and you can see what the opponent is picking at the same time that you are selecting your characters for battle. You can select characters and you have the ability to change them within the allotted time.

2. When you're ready, you can 'lock' your characters in. Once you lock characters in, you can no longer change them (this will lock all of your characters at the same time, and signifies that you are ready for battle). The opponent cannot tell if you have locked or not, but both players must lock before the timer is up.

3. The first player that locks his characters in gets to attack first. The thinking here is that they get the advantage of first attack, but his opponent gets the advantage of finalizing his team after seeing his opponent locked in. Hopefully this balances things out better. If you really want to go first, you can lock your team selection early, but the opponent can then counter your selection, so watch out!

This seems to me to be a fair way to start a match, and I prefer something like this to any random coin toss for who goes first. It also allows the player that doesn't go first to have their own advantage to help balance things out a bit.

OpticSugar, i kinda like that idea but it sounds time consuming. But I could adapt to that kind of match.

I can just feel the nerf bat swinging soon after pvp starts.

I really hope this pvp is more about strategy then who goes first or who has the right rare toon. This is why I would like to see 3 support toons and one Eddie.

This thread is better than actual sneak peek, you won't get to see these much features in real pvp,as you can find it here. No joke!
I'm almost certain, when it releases we'll find several other threads complaining, how it is not balanced :p

While we're talking about our fantasy PvP gameplay:

I think it would be cool if you could bring four allied characters, but you can only have three on the battlefield at any given time (much like you can bring three Eddies, but you can only have one on the battlefield). This way, you've got one guy on the bench just in case you need to switch up your strategy. The only catch is: you can only swap him out for another living ally. If an ally dies, your fourth guy cannot fill his spot (unless of course you can revive him). This might make things a bit more interesting and spice things up...

I completely agree. I thought the title would grab attention. Thought it would be nice to discuss pvp before the release and the inevitable complaining about what toon is op and how unfair it is. For once I would like to see pvp that doesn't cause issues.

Wow! Nice idea. That could also solve the problem of who gets to go first. A hidden replacement could be a game changer.
