Had a really frustrating day yesterday in the Warrior dungeon but things have taken a big change today. I managed to get the one evo shard I needed today so I can now promote a Magus char up to 5*. I am thinking Carriage Rider (I could do Wicker Man Eddie instead).

At the moment I am having a problem getting through Underworld Madness and am stuck early on in it. I am also stuck getting the 3rd skull on Number of the Beast on Hard. Current team is a 5* Soldier Eddie, 4* Assassin Newborn of Light (which is also going to 5* as well) and the 3rd has been a Warrior Golden Son but have also started playing with my Angel of Fear.

What would you advise is a better team to help me get to end game? Carriage Rider with NoL and AoF or Soldier Eddie with NoL and AoF or something else? I need to sort talismans out but I could nick the ones of my SE for my AoF if needed.

Eddie :)

Go for Carriage Rider Eddie - I am using him non-stop (he's my only Eddie with maxed everything, btw)... I managed to end the game even using him as 4* character, yet w/ maxed skills tho... It's a great choice - because he can care about himself and all his friends who are fighting beside him as well...

Thanks to these you will go through and even defeat the beast at the end:

* Torch - neutalizing enemies with his magic (very powerful ability when maxed) and healing himself at the same time
* Preserve - healing all your allies basing on your magic
* Black Embrace - buffs your whole party, and debuffs the enemies - very useful against boss characters...

If you pick CR Eddie - you won't be regretting that, I am sure about that...

Cheers,
W

Nice! I had the same yesterday in the warrior dungeon, but today is also better. I guess Ill have to wait until next red dungeon to upgrade my wickerman...

Anyway, I would also add my voice to carriage rider eddie. Between him & soldier eddie you have pretty much every scenario covered.

For the rest of your team, my only concern is that you'd want to get another AoE hitter onboard. I'd see your NoL and AoF as somewhat interchangeable, but the AoF with the extra turn passive can work in both physical and magic based teams, so I'd tend to gravitate towards him.

For an AoE hitter, I'd suggest you rotate your red golden son (who works with the NoL defence reduction skill) with some other magic based AoE hitter. Do you have the blue cheese allied soldier? Everyone uses him, but thats for a reason - he hits hard, is relatively easy to get & his power skill, even though reflect damage was recently reduced, is still very useful defensively.

So my vote would go with:
CR or Soldier Eddie
Assassin NoL or AoF
Red Golden Son or Magus AoE hitter (Blue Soldier perhaps)

That would be a team that could sort you for pretty much any scenario. Alternatively, have you got SoL Eddie? I'd say CR Eddie is definitely best longer term, but SoL Eddies heals pretty much got me through all the quest points - anytime you are near death he makes sure that you are back at 100%. As long as you have enough HP on your chars, you pretty much can avoid death all the time. The final skull of underworld with the 75% health requirement would be exceptionally difficult without SoL eddie.

Witkacy - Thanks for the advice. I was leaning towards CR over Wicker Man and it is good to hear how he helped you

Esquatcho - Thanks to you as well. Actually I do have a SoL Eddie ready to go to 5* (got no talismans on him though). I also have the Blue Allied Soldier. I only have enough evo shards to get 1 Magus up to 5* but if I can put some max talismans on the BAS I would imagine he would be strong enough to support the other 2? Hmm, you now have me wondering whether to evolve CR or SoL to 5*

I would go with CR Eddie. I have still not got him, but he plays fine when i borrow him from troopers.

I'd definitely go CR Eddie over SoL. CR is a great generalist and if you time it right his fury gets rid of most enemy buffs, to the point where on certain fights it is worth holding off on using his fury so you can get rid of inconvenient defensive buffs with it.

Looking at your team I'd stick with the Golden Son for some AOE action, with the Angel of Fear to get two pops at the cherry in the first round of every fight. You will get two decent blasts of AOE from Eddie and GS, along with two big single target hits from AoF with an option to spend power for AOE from him. Burning talismans on the Golden Son are quite amusing when they go off. I'd take the levelled talismans off SE to boost your red allies as well- the priority should be getting talismans up to 4*/40 on your main three characters then upgrade to 5*/25 ish as a stopgap on the way to 5*/50.

One thing that team is missing is a reliable Cleanse ability. CR Eddie can self cleanse with Torch (which makes him amusingly hard to kill) but your other two characters are a bit stuffed when the debuffs build up. You might want to swap the green allied soldier in as an experiment on NotB - his damage is horrible and there isn't much point taking him to 5* but he is very good at keeping your other characters upright. The drawback is that fights take longer, and the longer they take the more chance there is of an unlucky stun or silence messing up your day. The alternative, which isn't currently open to you, is to use Pharaoh or Grim Reaper Eddie to resurrect the fallen then have a PSS or similar ready to heal back up while doing some damage. The ultimate fallback is to get phase 3 Beast down to low health, die, resurrect using Ironite then apply the coup de grace to finish with both allies alive and max health...

Thanks Browno and Baba for your advice too

Yeah if I had GR Eddie I wouldn't have hesitated in getting him levelled up. Quite a few of my Troopers have him as champion and I really like using him.

I like the idea of using GS and AoF as well. I can't get them to 5* as I have nowhere near enough 3* shards but I will look at trying to max talismans as much as I can. Good job I have got a fair bit of gold as it looks like I am going to need it to get these talismans up!!

I have used your ultimate fallback strategy as well but even that failed :(

Grim Reaper drops as a 5*, but to be honest, CR Eddie is arguably better (mainly in autofarm). I would love one!

But yes, I still maintain you want to work on a flexible team of:
CR, Soldier Eddie, SoL Eddie
Assassin NoL, AoF
Red Golden Son, Magus AoE hitter (Blue Soldier perhaps)

But for now, if you can only do 1 blue to 5*, make it the CR Eddie! SoL Eddie & the Blue magus soldier can do just fine as 4* in a team. Just give them lots of green talismans to keep them alive. To be honest, with SoL Eddie, you can just keep him in the back & if anyone is about to die, switch to him - heal - switch back. Or like I said, switch to him to heal everyone just before you complete a level to get those x% health skulls.

As Baba said though, while you want to work towards a flexible team, getting 1 great team first is really important to break through levels.

And with that in mind, red golden son + AoF + Soldier Eddie are a really killer physical damage team.
Another great options is CR + AoF + Blue Soldier is also a really powerful team that doesnt take much to get doing good with. And as you suggested, good talismans (green & blue) the BAS will do just fine deep into the game as a 4*.
