View Full Version : in search of a comprehensive Buffs & Debuffs guide...

Does anyone know of a good comprehensive illustrated guide to all of the buffs and debuffs in the game? In particular, I'd like to have all of the little icons or badges that appear above the characters in battle defined so I can familiarize myself with them by sight better. I've searched high and low for this. I thought this might exist in some official gameplay guide from the developers, but much to my surprise I haven't been able to find it. I figure with all the effort that was put into creating the art for all these little badges, someone somewhere must have it all laid out in one place.

If anyone knows of such a guide, or if anyone in the development team is sitting on a document like this that might help the common player familiarize themselves with the vast mechanics of this rich game, please share it with us here.

I am familiar with most of them by now. (Awaiting herniated disc surgery gives me a lot of free time). A guide would have been extremely helpful at the start. Especially identifying reflect buffs. You learn those really quick when you wipe because you special attack and the enemy has that up! lol

Illustrated is tough for a fan to make, since it requires basically hacking the game file to extract (or trying to take a million phone screenshots). A guide would be helpful, though.

Yeah, no doubt. That's why I figured I'd ask around to see if it exists already. It's like we're just expected to guess what some of these little icons are out of context. Some are easy enough to figure out, but not all. Things happen so fast (especially at 2x) that I don't always catch everything flashing on the screen.

If someone wanted to undertake this, It would be easier if they took a video capture of an iPad of 20 minutes or so of gameplay, attempting to use as many different buffs/debuffs as possible. Then you could fish through the video in something like After Effects to extract out all the badge artwork. Still, way too much effort and you would have the numbers stamped on top of them.

Anyhow, if a guide like this doesn't exist, let this thread be a request to the game developers to provide one. I have this suspicion that a document like this exists somewhere among the development team (perhaps used for the creation of the game itself) and it could probably be easily shared without too much effort - even as part of an official game guide.

Great idea OpticSugar, I have let the game team know and they agreed it would be a valuable resource. I'm not sure if they'll add it to the FAQ (https://roadhousegames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/201179206-Iron-Maiden-Legacy-of-the-Beast) or if they provide me the icons I can upload them to the Wikia (http://iron-maiden-legacy-of-the-beast.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Maiden:_Legacy_of_the_Beast_Wikia) that exists, but I wouldn't have time to create the page to go along with the icons.
Anyway, once I know progress has started and where to find the icons I will update this thread.

Also, the game team is working on making the little status effect icons show info when you tap and hold on them. Keep an eye out for that in a future update.

I wouldn't mind putting the info together, but I'd need the icons to make it work. :D

That's F**N Team-work! Fantastic news - what a great community!

Regarding clicking on the little buff icons... That is actually a very good idea! I instinctively tried to do that several times myself. Making them context-sentitive like that may alleviate the need for any such document, although it would be some good 'study material' to have it all laid out in one place. A wikia would certainly be a great way to do it.

Thanks for helping to take this suggestion to the next stage!

Really useful, but I've figured out almost all of them by playing ;) Still, for new users this might be very, very helpful

Need some descriptions for some of these, as I haven't encountered them in my playing (no units/enemies/talisman sets)

Cleanse
Cyclone Shield
Explosive Shield
Flame Shield
Force Shield
Ghost
Inspiration (looks like two arrows making a circle)
Stone Shield
Thorn Shield
Void Shield
X Affinity (looks like a triangle)

It's possible some of these may not be the actual ability or icon names - I'm going off of file names in some cases. Anyone help?

See Cyborg Eddie under character discussion for Force Shield, Carriage Rider for Ghost, Cleanse is for Equilibrium under Visions Eddie.

Cyclone, Explosive, Thorn & Void can be found on my (sticky) Talisman thread found under Guides & Tips.

I think X Affinity is Class Affinity found under Nomad (ally character)

I would love to help out with this... but I've only been playing for a couple of weeks. I am a motion graphics professional - so if you need any image processing assistance, hit me up.

Well thanks to the help of Lamia and her contact, I actually have all the status effect icons as well as a description of what they all do. Some of the descriptions are off (DEF down increases DEF?), but I'm close to getting it all formatted into one sheet for public consumption.

Well here it is, Status Effects v1.0 (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y5fm21_or2EbxIaNbpPNiHIY1CGOy8lFVTniZzujN54/edit?usp=sharing)

Cleanse should be remove all negative effects only. Healing comes with the other icon.

Tested on Visions Eddie.

Thanks. Fixed. Anyone that sees mistakes like this, please let me know. I've tried to test what I can in game, but I can't test everything.

Also, if you'd like me to start a separate post for the guide, I can. (Or you can split the post, or however you want to handle it)

Nice. Consider adding that to the Wikia or Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LegacyoftheBeast/

http://iron-maiden-legacy-of-the-beast.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Maiden:_Legacy_of_the_Beast_Wikia

It might make it easier for the average person to find.

I'll do both. Good idea.

*edit*

Linked on Reddit, but I'm not really familiar with how to operate in Wikia. It'll have to wait.

Kulimar beat me to mentioning the Wikia http://iron-maiden-legacy-of-the-bea...he_Beast_Wikia, I personally do not like WIKIA too many adverts

There is also the Official Roadhouse Guide

Hey guys, I just made a wiki (didn't know one existed already) and made an article about status effects.
Here's a link (http://ironmaidenlegacy.wikia.com/wiki/Status_Effects), hope this helps :)
