What is wrong with this all spam-bots ruining this little forum? We are like just maximum 10-20 people hanging and writing in the forums consistently, and its quite hard to see new discussions coming up between all the F'n annoying spam messages. It's quite sad to see this view.. Nowadays forum looks like a poor, ruined and abandoned place in a slum street.

that's why there are only 20-30 people who write consistently,....some weeks/months ago there were more of us, but since this spam is so damn annoying, many people
left the forum. can't understand how a forum can look like this in 2016....sad story...
the questions they implemented doesn't help at all, seems that the bots are smarter than the people who organize this forum ;-)

It's pretty bad during the week, ridiculous on the weekends... what kind of bots spam? What is the singer of Bots first name?

Might be wise for those of us who are actually members to start posting in sub forums like lotb discussion. Bots seem to leave that stuff alone.

Putting a simple "CAPTCHA" code could not be that hard.. At least when signing up. Bots are probably Iron maiden fans that knowing name of Bruce, and of course they also know dogs have 4 legs! I learn so much from this forum, i became a end-game player with a good account with all the tips and discussions. That's another reason makes me sad to see this mess. Hope someone see this discussion and make something. Otherwise ruining will keep moving forward until last person writing on this little community.

sparton is fully aware of it, and leviathan too. they know the problems, but they simply cannot do anything about it. no idea why other forums can, and they not, i guess that's their secret.
maybe they can put this as question: "name the reason why we cannot do anything against bots" with 9 letters... maybe the bots cannot solve it and we have our peace again...

There already is one.

Trust me, I wish I could do more, but all I can do right now is assist with the mods in cleaning the crap out. Last I talked to others internally, one of the key things we thought would help shut spam down doesn't function properly for no known reason, but we're still looking into other solutions.

A big group of volunteer mods is your only hope. These are likely paid human link spammers, which all the trickery in the world won't slow down. You need a quantum surge in spam removal or they are just going to keep coming. Once their link spam starts disappearing in a matter of minutes, they'll move on.

Thanks for the answer Sparton! Sorry for my unclear explanation about captcha. My meaning was more about putting more complex one like a random number & letter generator -since the present captcha have 5-6 variables, this made me think about those bots re-programmed to try those specific answers with a software behind it. But if they are paid-human-link spammers like Reeb99 addressed, of course thats a whole other thing and it can be hard to deal with it.

Anyway.. As a daily-player and a fan of this game, my purpose is not complaining - just giving some feedback with issues that we face. I appreciate that you guys putting hard work in order to fix many problems. And i believe many do & eagerly looking forward to new update!

Cheers

in other forums the first posts of a new member have to be approved by a moderator. so you can get rid of many spambots. maybe that would be a possibility

I like the idea of monitor approval for first posting.
It would kill most of the bots. I'd rather that then answering questions before every post.

Could be a quick fix, every one with 50 posts or something is auto approved then all new members need conformation before given approval for posting.

Oh I would like to have an avatar for my posts. I know not a priority but just throwing it out there.

Or allow junior accounts to post ONLY in a specific thread for 1 week.

It's strange that those bot accounts aren't being deleted immediately and the email addresses used to spam us being prohibited from being members or maybe they are and I'm just not noticing the id change. More mods might be a good idea. Oh btw Osiris, never thought you were complaining but I'm with ya cuz I'm just throwing out ideas to keep the game and forum as cool as it is and as cool as it can or should be too. Always moving forward without taking a step back! That's what's up!

Yeah, I'll see if we can improve what the captcha is.

Sadly, I suspect we're actually dealing with humans more than bots... I've cleaned out a few spam threads that look more like a human screwed up pasting something than a bot screwed up punching the message in. Nonetheless, it may be a mix of both.

I'll have to ask the person who knows most about the forums internally if this is an option we have. That would probably help for sure.

Yeah, I dunno why that's not enabled right now. I'll ask about that, too.

Something I've been wondering for a while as well...
