My picks are invaluable team members who are reasonable to extremely powerful, those one would consider to be worthy troopers. This is the initial approach. The next step is determining investment- How many shards need investment for what results. Am I getting a 15% increase in effect/damage, or am I getting 25%? Are there two skills the shards randomly level or one? Ideal examples include Troll and Golden Son. On the other hand, you may have a General or an Angel, some rare character that retains value as a team member and a trooper. These may requre more shards, even double the investment of some of the quicker builds, but they are worth it.
