View Full Version : Angel of Fear passive triggering

While playing with the Angel of Fear (thanks to my troopers) I noticed that the First Blood passive ("Allies gain an extra turn if your team gets the first kill in a battle.") doesn't always trigger on the first kill. I tried this some more to see if there was a pattern to it and noted that it will only trigger then the enemy that is targeted is killed.

So if you use an AoE attack and it kills one or more enemies but not the one that is targeted, the extra turn won't trigger. It will however trigger once you kill an enemy that is targeted. Getting a kill that isn't the targeted enemy can also happen if one or more enemies have the Block passive. I have not tested that situation (yet) but I suspect it's the same there, which is also supported by the fact that the Warrior and Assassin COTD passive won't trigger in that situation.

Perhaps this is already widely known, but I haven't seen any talk about it here so I thought I should post it, as this knowledge can help a lot in choosing attacking order when having the Angel of Fear in the team.

I hadn't figured out the exact cause of the passive not triggering at times, thanks for the info!
Also I've noticed that it some times triggers even if you don't actually kill the target but come pretty close to doing so.

It only triggers when you kill the enemy that is targeted, but it seems pretty buggy in the LoL dungeon. Everywhere else it usually works exactly like that. I've had it not trigger in the LoL boss round until the boss dies, yet the first two were definitely targeted when they died because it was on auto.

Good to know about the LoL bugginess! To be fair, only triggering when killing the targeted enemy seems like a bug too. At least it isn't coherent with the description of the ability.

It seems that it triggers only with the Golden Sons instead of the Newborns of Light, don't know why, maybe he's racist...maybe it's just random...

Thanks for the "targeted" insight, i hadn't figured it out!

I almost made this thread a few weeks ago, but I'm not 100% sure about it. I think 90% of the time it works as you described, but there's been a handful (at least) of times that it has triggered when a non-targeted enemy gets killed, or something similar. That is, if your non-AoF ally kills someone before you used the AoF, sometimes it will trigger, but most of the time it won't.

And it not triggering when an enemy dies during Lord of Light battles can also happen with other boss battles, too.

Also, when I used to use the Allied Soldier's reflect shield, if the first enemy died because of the reflect shield, the passive would trigger after your first attack on the next round (so 1 ally would get an extra turn). But I haven't used that in a while so it could have changed.

I don't think I've noticed this, except for the ones with Revive - if they come back to life, it doesn't count as a kill (which makes sense).

I can confirm this. Auto-revive characters don't trigger it until the second time they die.

Another glitch I've noticed is that sometimes it will trigger before anything dies if a target is Ieft with a sliver of life. Unfortunately I don't know how much life that is because I cant seem to view details on targets in this game.

Yes I know it'silly, it's more likely a coincidence between my usual gameplay routine and the targeting issue...

About the trigger without the enemy's death i think that maybe the game consider the enemy dead just when his hp falls below 0, and maybe the skill triggers when the hp its equal to 0 (or maybe less than 1), so when the mob hp is equal to 0 the game doesnt consider him dead but it's enough to trigger the skill.

One thing I have noticed is that if the kill was done before the bat got its turn it doesn't always trigger the extra turn. I usually do his turn first and it seems to always work.
