This is the main post to discuss tuning changes that are in an upcoming update.

One thing I'd like to make sure is highlighted here (although we will highlight it elsewhere) is that we are reinstating weekly limits on most items that cost Trooper Badges, most notably Skill Shards and Rare-Quality Souls.
One important thing to note that with the changes to the limits, we have increased the Skill Shard limits elsewhere in the game (the Arena and added a monthly Skill Shard to the Specials Tab for a Gold cost) and so players should be able to earn the same amount if not more Skill Shards on a weekly basis.
That said, similar to the Arena Store, we intend that future valuable items that are added to the Trooper Store Tab will have limits for how frequent they can be purchased, so we want to encourage everyone to spend their reserves of Trooper Badges before those limits are enacted.
The other important subject is the rebalancing of the "less desirable" talisman subtypes: Skilled, Sorcery, and Onslaught.
Ultimately, we weren't comfortable with a tech solution that did something like changed how the damage system worked to make talismans that lacked HP more viable, so we went with adjusting Skilled, Sorcery, and Onslaught to make them more compelling in their own right, and potentially be useful to stack on their own for different characters or different builds for a given character. Please keep this in mind as you collect new talismans and are considering which to sell.

I like it. Addressing a lot of the long time bugs and concerns is great. I also like that the character tuning is limited to fixes and improvements, rather than benching more characters. If you guys can follow up with addressing some of the other major concerns that players have, maybe we can get the morale back on a positive note around here.

So the solution to the "Trooper Chores" is to limit the amount of items we can purchase with badges in the store? What bullshit!! Oh wait, we can "potentially" purchase more skill shards in the arena store if we play more PVP to earn coins, which requires refills of SOW, which require ironite, which we need to purchase with real money...
... and you're going to keep telling me it's not a "pay to win" game?

Glad to see Wickerman & Wickerman Eddie get some love! They've been in need of it for a while.
Interesting to see the attempt to breath life back into AoP.
And I'm probably going to be in the minority here, but I'd leave the sorcery, skilled and onslaught talisman as they are and not fiddle with them.

NF, here are your fair share: this notes makes me feel better. Some no sense will be changed in a suberb way (sorcery talis n friends). Some bugs seems to have a date to end, and so on.
I just hope that everything goes smoothly in the rollout. Then we can talk about faiths renewed.
Until then, I'll try some crazy stuff at my Shaman,. FotD and Aces looks good. Please, take a moment to see Vision's Take numbers. He needs some love too.

Interesting update.
I like what they are doing to the talismans. If I understand it correctly the "useless" Talismans will now have 4 instead of 3 improvements but they will be lower. So basically they are the perfect compromise. Interesting to see where this is going. Also the new talismans look like a promising option for some characters.
Concerning the character updates there are some good changes. Aces High is getting some love and also The Wicker Man both 5* characters who were so far basically useless.
The only thing I don't get, is the limit in the trooper shop. In my opinion a bad move. I like to see some red eyes, so I don't buy one soul a week but would much rather collect enough Trooper badges to buy 10 or 20. There is less of a disappointment. I know the probability is the same, but still psychologically it's nicer to have some success. Same goes with the skill shards I like to stack them up till I can fully shard a character. But theses are all just psychological aspects. There is also a time and money aspect. By raising the limit in the arena store, that forces players to get engaged more in the Arena, which basically is a good thing, however there is a time and price tag attached to the arena. For those of us already now running low on one of these resources that will slow things down. Well, we will see how that develops.

I am so angry right now... You are killing what this game ended up creating... a community...
If this is the response to it takes too long too play all our Troopers then I don't want it! You are taking Troopers out of the equation and also not letting us decide what to do with our earnings. Weekly limits for the Arena Store make sense as the Arena system is based on a weekly competition but Trooper Store should not be impacted.
In the early part of this year you teased that Trooper Eddie would be available from Trooper points so a few of us have stopped spending Trooper Badges and started collecting with the occasional spend on a bunch of special coloured souls when a new character of that class was introduced. This system makes sure that we cannot do that anymore... Leave it up to us to decide when to spend!
Before these limits kick in, please tell us how much we need for Trooper Eddie and when it will be released you cannot ask us to spend all we have earned and then flash a Trooper Eddie option which will take months to gather. We have already spent the months! You did it with the Eternal Soul for those who were lucky enough to be part of the PVP Beta do it again for those who have been there since Day 1. And please let us decide at least in the Trooper store on how to dispose of our badges as this is part of our strategies.
I just don't get all the constraints that you guys are imposing on us lately, what is going on... look at all the old timers leaving... don't you read the signs???
We are throwing amazing suggestions after amazing suggestions in these forums and all we get in return is silence and nerfs... Pretty interesting to nerf a store when nerving characters is not enough anymore...
To be fair, you have immense allies with us here and you should use us. We understand you need to make money and we are for this too but be fair to us please.
Events seem to be the flavour of the season but what would be very appreciated is for you to post a timeline of upcoming events so we can plan our spending accordingly, how many players spent all their ironite on BNW Souls to find out that MUR was just the week after and could not participate...
Be transparent, communicate and help us plan... As Iron Maiden say there is a "Greater Good" and this one will benefit you as well, trust me!

Yeah you got a very good point. Right now I'm sitting on 120k trooper badges and I got no idea what to do with them. I start saving onceI have heard about trooper Eddie. But now, with the impeding trooper store restrictions (apparently a solution to trooper problem?) and since we are being encouraged to use the trooper points, I'm not really sure if I could trust that (a company that throw a character events, sell power up packs then nerf it to hell after 2 weeks). This is by far a punishment for those who saved trooper badges

Thanks, Patrice! I agree with a lot of what you said. I find the weekly and monthly limits frustrating, and this update will make some things worse in that regard. I understand the need to have governors on some things to prevent pay to win. But, I think an emphasis on flow versus accumulation only works in a transparent environment.
Take the current Rescuer event as an example. I have been keeping over 1000 Regular Souls on hand, in case I ever need to use them en masse for a spontaneous event (e.g., the Shaman Eddie Sacrificial Soul event). When the Rescuer event popped up, these Souls were extremely valuable. Such occurrences will make me even more likely to hoard in the future.
Trooper Badges are similar. I'm sitting at over 90K, not sure of their best use. I could use them on skill shards. But, I have about 120 of those already on hand. I've been saving in case there is ever an Iron Coin Eternal style one-time offer. If I knew such an offer were never to come, I'd be happy to spend the badges on skill shards or Souls. But, uncertainty encourages hoarding.
And, by the way, these Exclusive Character Events, as cool as they are, also encourage hoarding behavior. Knowing that, at any time, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will arise causes one to want to make sure they have plenty of resources at hand.
I do understand the psychology of it all, but I wish that we could ascend to a higher plane here. ("Release the cords that bind us to the ground.") I think the community's passion around Maiden might render a lot of the "conventional" free to play gaming wisdom obsolete.
I am excited about most of the updates. I am just not happy about the imposition of additional limits.

I know the answer is probably "no," but do you want to give us any idea what these future valuable items might be? I can't recall the Trooper Store Tab ever having items other than what it currently has (though I definitely could be wrong). So, I find this comment intriguing.

I can't see the logic in the limits on Trooper Store items other than to piss long term players off and to force then to buy things they don't want.
Put a limit of 3 on all the souls and skill shards and let us decide what we want to buy. We can only earn a max of 17,250 Trooper Points a week, so let us decide on what to spend it on.
People will still end up with a massive Trooper Point stock pile because no one wants to buy Rare G/A, Rare Warrior, Magus or Sentinel, or Rare Souls because it's just not worth it.

About the trooper store limits. I was pretty bummed to see that too. If anyone remembers though, everything was limited to one back in the beginning. I can't remember if it was a bug that unlocked everything, or if they did it on purpose. Either way, they let it go so long there are players who probably never saw the limits we used to have.
Should they change it? I don't know. I only buy skill shards, so ideally no, but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much as the silence on the entire community's concerns. Maybe they're sick of us complaining. A few complaints here and there, I could see ignoring. But when most of the forum has the same concerns, and they go ignored, well, I don't know. We may see a mass exodus soon.
Devs I know it's gotta be hard to read all this crap. Some players have been trying to help steer this thing in the right direction for a long time (and none are on the payroll). Maybe if you guys had taken some of these opinions seriously sooner, we wouldn't see so many players abandoning ship. I don't care what the business is, if you don't take care of your customers, the business fails.

Apart of not being happy with restrictions at all, in every aspect of life, I just wanted to know what is so hard on fix Viking's MR up skill... I have seen many updates and since the character release, no clue about this fix.
Also, for the Gunner Valkyrie, she is the weakest of them all, is there a chance to give her some love to make her more usable like her sisters?

They may release Trooper fragments for the much anticipated char that can be bought with badges but not a one shot Trooper Ed for 100k badges... think about it lol... keeps us playing of we only get 20 or so frags a week and need 200 to unlock him...
Seems like NF is also trying to increase purchases on the skill shard packs. I foresee a greater lack of ability to shard characters that require large amounts of them regardless of how they present these changes as some type of better way for endgamers or new players to level up chars or spend gold or ic. Purchase limits with in-game currency are intended to force us to spend real cash if we really want to progress. This is blatantly obvious, its why Sparton is giving us fair warning (best VH album btw).
The fact that they are making trooper purchases limited is a big kick to the balls of any player who has maintained a sense of obligation to help out their fellow gamers earn badges and redeem unlimited skill shards. The game is headed in the wrong direction. They said they would try not to but that only meant this p2p direction was inevitable.

Can you clarify more about the fixes to 'reset' and 'revive'. Regarding reset, it sounds like that it should resolve the issue of a players team potentially becoming frozen when 2 Magus CotD both apply a blizzard shield during the same turn, is that indeed the case? And as for revive does this apply to Clairvoyant at all? I've noticed she becomes hard to keep alive once she has been revived herself. Her fury will not heal her but does rest of team fine, and instead of gaining a cleanse, she loses all positive effects instead.
I do tend to agree the store restrictions seem to be focused on getting players to spend money rather than anything else. It might give some long term players something to spend their gold on but thats about it. I'm glad I have scaled down my playing a tiny bit to play about 40 troopers a day as there won't be much incentive to do any more than that in the future! Not only board members have left or scaled back their play but my other troopers have too it seems, these restrictions are likely to encourage this even more. Might as well introduce a limit of 40 troopers while you're at it...
Otherwise there are some positive changes and fixes mentioned so its not all bad....most notably for me are Wickerman who I just got the other day and FotD Eddie gaining AoE on 2 skills should make him more suitable for PVP and farming.

The only thing keeping me playing at the moment is skill shards. I've got about 5-6 characters I'd benefit from sharding to be competitive in PVP. I've abandoned BNW due to high costs and dreadful drop of talismans (which it's become apparent is because NF want to sell them for real money) and Trooper points and iron coins are the only way to get them. So I play my 50 troopers and my sands in PVP to get coins and buy 3-4 shards a week. That means it'll still take 4-5 weeks to shard a character (not Eddie). 5-6 times? About six months of play. Not factoring in getting new characters. And now you want to throttle that ability so I can pay £50 for 3 skill shards? I can get a full AAA PS4 game cheaper (and one that has less bugs, real production values and a decent story...)
Are NF trying to sink this game so they can do something else or just extremely naive?
Really angry, more and more reasons to leave this fuc**ng game. The worse of restrictions is 2 skillshards per week in trooper store, that is the only reason I play my troopers, don't care about any soul because they give me only sh&t.

I like pretty much all of the changes. I'm even fine with re-instating the weekly limits in the Trooper store 'cause I understand that you (the developers and designers) don't want resource hoarding and that you want to set some boundaries on how certain game items are acquired. However, I agree with the concern that teasing the year-long-awaited-and-omg-must-have-for-Maiden-fans Trooper Eddie as being purchasable with Trooper Badges has encouraged us to save up our Trooper Badges in anticipation, only to have that rug pulled out from under us. I've been carrying a minimum of 50,000 Trooper Badges since December, stockpiled them up to 120,000 over the past few months, and have been newly anticipating the release of Trooper Eddie due to the item descriptions for the mini-fig that was recently advertised.
Again, I understand that you don't want resource hoarding. But please understand that you've caused the hoarding by setting certain expectations. My recommendation is that you do one of the following:
- Tell us how many Trooper Badges Trooper Eddie will cost so we can make an informed decision about how we spend our sacks of Trooper Badges.
or
- Re-instate the weekly limits in the Trooper store sometime after Trooper Eddie is released.

I understand the frustration of the limits in the Trooper section of the store, but also consider the math. If you have all 50 of your Troopers play your champ successfully everyday, barring game errors, you could only at most buy 3 skill shards a week. Capping it to 2 will give you leftover badges, which you would very likely spend on Trooper Eddie Soul Shards, as mjmxiii pointed out. You also have the option to buy an additional skill shard per week in the Arena store, which will bring your total back up to 3 per week. You can also buy 2 per month with gold. You also still earn them as rare drops in the Skull Quests, and as rewards in the Sacrifice.
Overall, it's not really taking away your ability to choose how to spend your currency. Instead of 5k Trooper points, you spend 350 Iron Coins for that third Skill Shard.
Honestly, these things can all be earned by free play, it just takes longer. Buying resources with real money only earns some of these things faster. I buy a resource pack every few months, when there's a good one on sale and I have a few extra bucks, but daily I'm a free player. I'm excited to see many of these changes applied (particularly for my Angel of Pain!), and it's nice because I also made suggestions for Gold in the Suggestions section. Glad to see they were already on top of that.

@Sparton, I really like that the bugs are getting attention, and some of the ability updates.
I know you have a lot on your plate but if you could please take a look at this thread and find if any other fixes could be included it would be great:

I would *really* encourage the team to put an effort on fixing the "freeze/hang" (upon resuscitate mostly) related bug, this is a major pain point for so many that fixing it should be a priority.

not a fan of the trooper store limitation but as someone pointed out we can buy exactly 3,5 per week (assuming you play all troopers and all troopers play you) and now we can buy 2. not that much of a problem if you ask me. i thought you wanted to make the game more social, but cutting down the value of trooper badges is the opposite of more social i think.
but we should wait first how this will turn out, but i fear this could lead to more guys leaving the game again.
love the fact that we can use our gold in a cool way!
the character changes seems interesting, curious to see the performence of aces high eddie and AOP after the update. but guys, please consider an adjustment for the purple valkyrie. many many guys just laugh about this ridiculous char but in fact it's sad. it's too much of a difference maker. it boosts an okay 20% def to 35-40%. that's really too much. and there are almost no counters for her. check the def% of the guys who have her and tell me that i'm wrong please, if you can...
well not gonna talk again about wrath, since enough was said about that, but dislike the fact that 3-6 toons will make you or break you if you miss them. that's bad balancing imo.
aside that just a question:
will the sacrifice changes we discussed about be implemented in this update? would be extremly cool.

It would be a shame if someone spend all their trooper points and Trooper Eddie costs like 50k of them. Also, sending badges to troopers kept lots of us in the game when we were about to leave, it bonds the players, so please take in consideration all that is being said, this is very sensitive issue.
Other than this I like how the update look.
One suggestion for you guys to consider for the future.
Seems lot of us old time players are leaving the game. I came to the conclusion that this is happening for 4 reasons: bugs, lack of new content, inability to set new goals within the game and not being able to spend resources on new toons.
I assume and hope the first two is being taken care off. As for the last two, please consider a "toon of your choice" soul.
Make it extremely difficult to get, would require lots of resources (combined gold + tp + IC) and only available once a month. With new toons it's harder and harder to complete our rosters, or get the one we always wanted. This would make people aim at something. Also, this would be a good way to stay competitive at Arena, sometimes one toon makes too much of a difference and a player has only RNG to get (or not) this toon.

I don't think this can be overstated - if this update goats players into spending their saved up Trooper badges, and then you announce that Trooper Eddie frags/whatever can be purchased through badges, you are going to lose a ton of players. I am not saving mine up, I buy skill shards as I hit 5000 - but for so many people, this has been a year-long saving effort due to hinting that the badges would have something to do with obtaining him.
At this point, given that some have already cashed them in, I think your best bet is to stay away from Trooper Badges where Trooper Eddie is concerned... But at minimum, like gmac said, you need to communicate what the badges will have to do with Trooper Eddie, whatever it is.
Otherwise update looks good enough, I'm eager to see Mystic Eddie's AI adjustments as he's one of my favorites. Keep up the good work.

Currently we are tracking a bug related to Astra that may make her basic attack remove beneficial effects and stun much more often than it should. The intended behavior is that Immunity prevents the stun, but there appears to be cases where it is not working. We'll likely have more details about it in a following patch. Aside from that, there also just happens to be some new characters on the horizon that will work very well against Astra, so we should see her power balanced out a bit with their presence. We'll continue to keep an eye on it though.

One more thing though, limiting souls in trooper store doesn't even matter to me. Every single soul i've got from the trooper store was just complete crap. I don't remember ever getting red eyes from a trooper store soul.
That being said, thanks. This way I will waste less resources.

Just wanted to chime in to explain a few things regarding the reinstating of limits in the Trooper Shop.
First of all, this is not a change being made in isolation. There are many updates and changes to the game that will be rolling out over the next few months and these limits are just a part of balancing the flow of resources in the economy given those changes. Without getting into too much detail or revealing exact dates, here is a preview of some of the content and features related specifically to this change that we are in the process of developing:
We are in the process of looking at speeding up the use of Troopers, and of playing quests in general, which will increase the speed and ease of earning Trooper Badges.
There are more items coming to the Trooper shop within the next few months, including the long heralded Trooper Soul. Our current plan is to offer a one-time, high cost Trooper Soul as well as the farmable weekly fragment option. The price has not been finalized for this Soul, but generally speaking it should not exceed the cost of using 50 troopers over a 5 week period (i.e. between 40K-to-50K Badges) though this is tentative and could change. In regards to how much heads up you'll have about when to start saving up, we are also going to start advertising what events are planned for the month in the News Feed to give people a better idea of what's to come. In theory, by the time we announce the release of this soul, you should have enough time to save up for at least one pull or at least dramatically shorten the time it will take for it.
With many upcoming events, we are looking for ways to ensure all players have some way of working towards the event rewards outside of just using the ironite or souls they have on hand. To that end there will be many events which will be making more use of all 3 shops in the game in new ways (Arena, Troopers, and Gold Shops). For this to work, we need to make the shops more consistent with each other so that something like unlimited access to rare souls doesn't completely break the economy of the game as it will imbalance the value of various activities and game modes.
In short, with some of the upcoming changes, you'll still be able to earn the same amount of resources, if not much more, but you won't have to dedicate as much energy and time to things like using Troopers. Instead, via events and upcoming features, there should be more of a perceptible cadence to where you can ideally spend you time to maximize your rewards in the game. Yes, this does mean you can't hoard points to buy souls / shards in bulk, but this is also the reason we are communicating these changes now. If you have large stores of Trooper Badges saved up, you may want to consider spending them now as, outside of the aforementioned Trooper Soul, there won't be much reason to save them.
Hopefully that helps explain that particular change. Sparton and I will try and be around on the forums today to answer any additional questions regarding this or other updates from the patch preview notes.

I think you guys need to coordinate your communications better, or maybe you should just take the wheel completely when it comes to the forums. Doesn't affect me personally but I know people like Silent already spent their bank of trooper badges based on Sparton only giving half of the info and misleading advice. If I followed Spartons advice, I'd be pretty pissed off right now after you finally cleared the air. Without your nice follow up response, the initial announcement seems very bait and switchish.

To be fair, I am also suggesting that it's okay to spend all of your badges as by the time we announce the soul you should be able to earn it through natural play. But yes, our bad on the lack of communication. We'll work on improving that in the future.

Regarding the many comments about trooper store restrictions, and future items to be in the trooper store:

Until then, I'll try some crazy stuff at my Shaman,. FotD and Aces looks good. Please, take a moment to see Vision's Take numbers. He needs some love too.
Hm... he's still fairly frequently used on PVP attack teams, and has a substantially better win rate than the other two 5 star Sentinel Eddies. He's not a powerhouse of damage, which implies he shouldn't be dominating the lower divisions, which means he should still have moderately good use in the mid and higher divisions.
Still, I'll keep an eye on his usage and win rates after the next tuning update goes out.
Apart of not being happy with restrictions at all, in every aspect of life, I just wanted to know what is so hard on fix Viking's MR up skill... I have seen many updates and since the character release, no clue about this fix.
What issue are you referring to specifically?
Also, for the Gunner Valkyrie, she is the weakest of them all, is there a chance to give her some love to make her more usable like her sisters?
We don't have a lot of data on her usage and win rates yet, but so far she's looking more commonly used than two of her three sisters (eclipsed as a PVP attacker by, unsurprisingly, Astra, Valkyrie Slayer).
Eda, Valkyrie Knight is really helpful in certain Brave New World dungeons, especially ones that try to lay down a lot of negative effects (her permanent Perfect Immunity means she'll never get disabled, and she can then cleanse her entire team).
Can you clarify more about the fixes to 'reset' and 'revive'. Regarding reset, it sounds like that it should resolve the issue of a players team potentially becoming frozen when 2 Magus CotD both apply a blizzard shield during the same turn, is that indeed the case? And as for revive does this apply to Clairvoyant at all? I've noticed she becomes hard to keep alive once she has been revived herself. Her fury will not heal her but does rest of team fine, and instead of gaining a cleanse, she loses all positive effects instead.
Of the issues I know we've resolved, these scenarios are examples of what is fixed:
A character with a reset skill is last to act on a team, and attacks an enemy team with Blizzard Shields. There's a currently-live bug where, if your last character's attack resets, the blizzard shield can expire after the initial attack (which can immediately freeze), but since the resetting character is trying to do extra attacks, it can't if frozen. Thus, a combat hang (in the upcoming update, the shields will wait until after all reset attacks are done before expiring and trying to do their expire effects)
A character with a revival skill also adds beneficial effects. There's a currently-live bug where the extra beneficial effects don't always apply to the revived character (or at least won't look like it, but may silently be there). In the upcoming update, if a skill says it will give Endure to all teammates, it should do that, even for characters that are revived with said skill.
I just made a little calculation about the talisman change. Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
Pretty close. The stats for talismans are stored with a base amount integer and an increase-per-level integer, so it's sometimes a bit higher and sometimes a bit lower than the exact percentages I listed in the preliminary notes:
Sorcery/Skilled: HP 1382, Def 122, MR 122, [Offensive stat] 275
Onslaught: HP 1835, Def 132, MR 132, Special 126
In Updates info, there's a mistake on the copy/paste for FOTD Steal Breath description, the skill does Silence, not Blind.
Whoops, good eye; we will fix that for the final tuning notes release.
@Sparton: any plans to add new Missions to collect additional fragments? And, any plans for fragments that would add up to a skillshard?
There were plans to add Missions to this upcoming update, but we had to pull them out due to lack of time to ensure they were thoroughly QA'd. They'll make it in in a subsequent update.
In the meantime, there will be handful of new achievements in the next update which'll have Ironite and Skill Shards as a reward, iirc.
Also, we do want to add Skill Shard Fragments, but right now the Fragments feature only works with Souls, so it'll be some time before we're able to adjust that feature to give fragments of other kinds of items.
@Sparton, I really like that the bugs are getting attention, and some of the ability updates.

There's quite a few combat hang situations that we have fixes for in the next update, they're just not items that we have in these preliminary tuning notes (because they're usually not character-specific, and they have more to do with the underlying combat system). We'll have more details for that as we get closer to the release of the next update.
I'll also pass along your post to our QA to ensure what's on there is in our system; it looks like most should be already (or is even listed as fixed in these prelim notes), but good to be sure.
but guys, please consider an adjustment for the purple valkyrie. many many guys just laugh about this ridiculous char but in fact it's sad. it's too much of a difference maker. it boosts an okay 20% def to 35-40%. that's really too much. and there are almost no counters for her. check the def% of the guys who have her and tell me that i'm wrong please, if you can...

That said, while keeping in mind she's still a new character, data so far indicates she's not used overly often on defense, and when she is, she has a stunningly low win percentage (pun intended). Like, worse than 3/4 the roster low. I could see her boosting the defense win percentages if you hang around the lowest divisions, but so would many other powerful characters.
People on the forum have discussed working around her; it's honestly not hard. She only punishes those who are not prepared, and her counters counter her hard. Her value is more in punishing certain defense when you use her as an attacker, and in certain Brave New World dungeons (absolutely tears through a lot of waves in the Garden of Life, even if she becomes a bit of a liability against the Dragon King himself).

They will, we just don't have exact details solidified, nor do we have full patch notes for that change yet.
One suggestion for you guys to consider for the future.
Seems lot of us old time players are leaving the game. I came to the conclusion that this is happening for 4 reasons: bugs, lack of new content, inability to set new goals within the game and not being able to spend resources on new toons.
I assume and hope the first two is being taken care off. As for the last two, please consider a "toon of your choice" soul.
Make it extremely difficult to get, would require lots of resources (combined gold + tp + IC) and only available once a month. With new toons it's harder and harder to complete our rosters, or get the one we always wanted. This would make people aim at something. Also, this would be a good way to stay competitive at Arena, sometimes one toon makes too much of a difference and a player has only RNG to get (or not) this toon.
We are looking at systems to help with unlucky RNG for certain kinds of rewards (such as Eternity Souls). I'm not sure about the timeline for a "pick your own choice" soul, though... but I'm not entirely opposed to that if it's appropriately limited.
EDIT: Mariner-1212 has recommended elsewhere a kinda "make your own" character feature which is something we know we want to add eventually, which partially scratches that itch.

I didn't quite have my jimmies as rustled as everyone else over the news of this update, but for someone with my type of motivation, it seems like more work to keep up with all of the new extra rewards, my opinion of the idea of making them limited is that now I'll be more considerate about buying them to keep a good average in points and have a wealthy income of trooper points and iron coins, and even gold as well. I suppose in the coming weeks I'll have to renovate my trooper list and get more forum people on here, as it is I've been only playing the forum players and I have like, 5 of them on my team while everyone else has been collecting dust. But considering my rate of spending trooper points and iron coins, I think I'll be comfortable with these changes. I like that rare and legendary souls have been made slightly more accessible.
On a side note, I like the other positives that have been mentioned, including the event planning, trooper souls, making points easier to earn, sacrifice changes, etc. I'll be looking forward to how this change affects everything as a whole.

Huh, that's a fairly varied list. Let's see:
The character changes are pretty good. Making FotD's Preying Claw AoE will make him a lot better in the Magus dungeon on auto too. Surprising seeing Mark get another power cost increase! I must be doing something wrong then, considering I barely use the move. Similarly, the changes to the Sorcery/Skilled/Onslaught Talismans is good news, as well as the buffs to Thorn Shield and Cyclone Shield.
I am very happy with Navigator's performance fix. Hopefully my phone battery will drain slightly less faster.
I am also happy there's an endgame use for Gold now; by extension, this makes Precious Souls more valued as well, which is good too.
I was a bit worried about the initial post about the Trooper Store limits but with Kaz's post it seems to make more sense. Good to hear the Sacrifice adjustment will come soon. Still need to get that one Tier 7 done one of these days.
Still, I have a few questions Sparton (or Kaz):
- Are the Hunter and Predator Talismans time limited? If so, will they show up in Brave New World at a later date?
- Recently there's some grumbling going around about characters with Immortal Talismans causing a game hang when Frozen. Has the problem been identified, and will that get a fix in the next update?

We intend to have Hunter and Predator Talismans as long term additions to the PVP store, just with a restrictive 1/month limit. We do not plan on adding then to the Brave New World.
We've had difficulty replicating all of the possible scenarios that players have reported, but we have reproduced some ways of getting a hang. Some general combat system improvements should fix some of the hangs, with one other specific scenario that was reported is still being investigated (so I'm not sure if the fix for that will make it into the next update, or the update that follows that)
I passed along your suggestion to Kaz, and he says he'll look into it. It doesn't look like the AI supports the exact thing you're asking for, but we might be able to do something close (and if not, create a task to look into fleshing out the AI accordingly)

Quick question... I hardly ever use a secondary eddie (always bring them but hardly need them) - My question is: If the secondary (or third) eddie has a 1 turn passive/talisman, does it still work when you bring him in later even though it's his first turn?
Does this question even make sense? Maybe i'll just test it myself. I'm just curious.

Oh cool that's good to know as well, I was thinking by your 5 week comment it might take that long to save for the soul but would require saving all badges and not buying anything else in the meantime. so keeping a reserve would keep all options open to continue buying the other options while still having enough for the soul as well when it rolls around.
Is it going to work so one could start off at zero once the change is implemented and buy all items including the soul as long as they keep up with daily play, or will having enough to earn it through natural play force one to halt all other purchases while building up a supply?

THIS would be brilliant. would be the ultimate reward and we could work for it. this would create so much motivation for every single player, so we will have less people who are going to quit because of nothing more to archieve.
make different prices for 4*/5* and g/a or other characters. the prices should be very high but also average players shouls be able to claim this soul every once in a while. i'm very sure this would keep many guys in. you release characters pretty regulary, so it's really hard to get specific chars now because the pool is so large. so this is a really great idea. and we would never run out of goals. i'm sure great guys like our good old osiris wouldn't have left if this would be possible.
good to hear that you are going to do something about unlucky RNG for eternals for example. how about let us choose a char every 5th eternal soul or so? or simply include eternals in the "toon of your choice soul" :D

Oh yeah, i'm very sure the people who share their stats on fb and some top 10 guys i know who have her on the defense are solely getting holds from non prepared lowrank guys, that's the reason for having >35% def on saturday ;) as always, it's not one char alone, you have to use the right teammates and some good talismans to see good results. thank god most people don't pair her very well.
maybe she will be more in line after the more than intended stun adjustment, but right now she feels horribly broken for many of us. no way to compete in pvp with a subpremium defense, but it's almost impossible to create a premium defense without VHE, wrath and the purple chick. The meta will change again, but the problem will still exist. Always only a handfull of toons are usable, would be cool if we could have more variabilty/creativity there. that's the main problem i think.

This would largely depend on how active your Troopers are. From your end you should have enough to buy the Soul within about a months time starting from zero. Double that income with active Troopers and you should have enough to buy everything on going.

On paper everything may look perfect, yet in real... So... As the neighbours from the East use to say: ''поживём – увидим'' (time will tell)...
I would like to know if something's been worked on in the subject of eliminate ''connecting with server errors'' which seem real plague since some time... And they are seem to be your concern as while not smooth play - loosing eveything - the experience and fun of play is none...
And how about fixing the TP system: why not ''unlock'' the possibility to use 2 troopers' champions at the same time? I understand that you guys wish peps to spend caa$h on refill SoTs, yet such move would improve the daily obligation drastically... I would like to see some sollutions could provide the TP (full 50) within 2 hours max... Playing more the game as it is now - not worth the time...

Thank you very much for the information, Sparton. I'm glad that I've kept quite a few onslaught, sorcery and skilled talismans. Some of them even maxed. Especially happy that I didn't sell two Immunity onslaught talis that i recently got in BNW, after playing what seemed forever.
BTW, am I the only one who can remember that skilled/sorcery talis had HP till October last year? Some good things may return.

I think its best to just use most of them. This update is slated for end of the month but I think it was the June or July release that went live nearly a week early so you will have no heads up once it goes live in all likelihood.
I had 100K saved but spent it all on skill shards. This was before the official announcement that there will indeed be a trooper soul though. Ugh. I thought well surely those planned have been dropped....appears not! I'll have to calculate how many trooper points I tend to get per week so I have a better idea if I will be able to purchase said soul in allocated time once it is announced, whenever that will be....

Hmm, very interesting update. I have maxed Wicker Man, Angel of Pain, and Aces High Eddie, all of whom were my favorite characters. May have to come out of retirement if this release goes smoothly, especially if there is a new and faster way to burn through all the troopers.
Wicker Man and Angel of Pain were what got me through PvE originally, along with my beloved Nomad, so have a soft spot for all of them, lol!

Glad to see Death Dog getting some attention as well, I've had him since about a month before his skills change. Big question though, is his Damage Charge skill getting fixed as well (it currently disappears from him as soon as he casts it)? Would love to see what he can do with that working properly.
Huh, it looks like a fix for that may have been stuck in limbo, but one of our QA did verify for me that it is indeed fixed for our next update. I'll make a note to add that to the final patch notes.

I've had purple Valkyrie stun Clairvoyant a couple of times when she has no beneficial effects active. The pattern I've seen has been that usually wrath has removed the effects from Clairvoyant. Purple Valkyrie makes the last attack for the defense and then Clairvoyant is stunned and Artillery dog applies immunity to Clairvoyant. Maybe a good test case for your fix.

oh one new possible bug:
i used DD sometimes on offense and so far he NEVER blocked the passive of the opponents. very unlikely it's just bad luck. would be cool if you could check this. can anyone else confirm this?

hmm actually, he blocked the passibe once after i wrote this. so maybe i was really just unlucky this time or it triggers less than intended.

There is a bug (http://forum.ironmaidenlegacy.com/showthread.php?8880-September-2017-Tuning-Discussion-PRELIMINARY&p=56570&viewfull=1#post56570) that Kaz has noted in this thread, which does inflate her usefulness in some cases.
That said, while keeping in mind she's still a new character, data so far indicates she's not used overly often on defense, and when she is, she has a stunningly low win percentage (pun intended). Like, worse than 3/4 the roster low. I could see her boosting the defense win percentages if you hang around the lowest divisions, but so would many other powerful characters.
People on the forum have discussed working around her; it's honestly not hard. She only punishes those who are not prepared, and her counters counter her hard. Her value is more in punishing certain defense when you use her as an attacker, and in certain Brave New World dungeons (absolutely tears through a lot of waves in the Garden of Life, even if she becomes a bit of a liability against the Dragon King himself).

Oh yeah, i'm very sure the people who share their stats on fb and some top 10 guys i know who have her on the defense are solely getting holds from non prepared lowrank guys, that's the reason for having >35% def on saturday ;) as always, it's not one char alone, you have to use the right teammates and some good talismans to see good results. thank god most people don't pair her very well.

Liking the changes! A pity about the bad communication concerning trooper points, but the changes in themselves look good. Will be fun to bring out my Angel of Pain from retirement.
Will this update fix the bug with wrongly displayed HP bars after using multiple hit attacks? The HP bar goes down as it should first but then goes up a bit at the end of the animation, probably corresponding with the amount of damage dealt by the last of the multiple hits. I've seen this happen with a lot of different multiple hit moves, and it's just a visual glitch as the next hit will have the bar show the correct HP remaining. The most glaring evidence of this bug happened today when I used VHE's Fury (3 hits) on the Magus LoL, who ghosted but the HP bar was about a quarter full. It's also very obvious if you use a two hit attack that should nearly kill the enemy but the HP bar displays a bit more than half the HP remaining (and then do the exact same attack, which kills the enemy).
(And if this bug is device related, I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S5 with the most recent Android update)

RE: To use or not use badges...
The best move is to save 30k badges, and spend the rest on skill shards before they become limited. Here's why:
The devs said there will be a ONE-TIME-ONLY Trooper Soul at around 40-50k, and that we'll have ideally 4 weeks to save up for it. If you have strong Troopers from the forum and you play them all everyday, you should be able to average 15k badges a week. That works out to 60k if you don't spend on anything else over that 4-week period.
Soon, you will be limited to 2 skill shards per week, meaning that you'll be spending 10k/week on them and saving about 5k/week. Once they're limited, you will be stuck with your current badges and the extra accumulation of 5k/week... and anything over 50k (Trooper Soul) will have to go towards the other items in the store, which are far less valuable than the skill shards.
If you haven't left yet, here's some more math:
Saving 30k in badges right now will leave you with a 20k badge deficit for that 50k Trooper soul. That 20k/4 weeks works out to 5k/week needed to be saved. As above, that can be handled while still allowing the 2 skill shard purchase each week. So if my math is correct, saving anything over 30k right now is only good if you want to spend it on souls & stuff in the store.

That bug is still being worked on. It will not make it in for this next release, unfortunately, but is scheduled to be complete on the following one.

I'll bring up the Death Dog / Clairvoyant issue with our QA. I believe that last issue with Astra will be fixed with this upcoming release. There was an issue where Talisman passives were marked as positive effects, but when the effects were removed, they were still counting as being present on the target.

This is being worked on, but will not be completed for this release. It is scheduled for the following release at the moment.

Yes to both. Though they are further down the list so neither will be coming in the near term. We are really interested in implementing a form of Guilds in the game, including Chat. It is still early in the design phase however so no solid details on that yet.

I would like to know if something's been worked on in the subject of eliminate ''connecting with server errors'' which seem real plague since some time... And they are seem to be your concern as while not smooth play - loosing eveything - the experience and fun of play is none...
One of our programmers is indeed working on improving this situation. I'm not sure if any improvements will make it into the next update, but if not the next, then the following one should have a lot of improvements for the error handling system.
And how about fixing the TP system: why not ''unlock'' the possibility to use 2 troopers' champions at the same time? I understand that you guys wish peps to spend caa$h on refill SoTs, yet such move would improve the daily obligation drastically... I would like to see some sollutions could provide the TP (full 50) within 2 hours max... Playing more the game as it is now - not worth the time...
What you're suggesting is the plan; it's merely a matter of being able to get the programmer time to implement it. I already have all of the new error cases/menu flow logic documented for when the programmer resources are free (which may be as soon as the update after the next).
@Sparton, I am referring to Viking's Magic Resistance Charge.
When active, it supposed to increase damage/defense based on MR, and it does nothing.
Hm, I think I see a bug in the system for something along those lines, so I'll ask around and see if there's something that can be done about that.

Do you have a more specific example of what character(s) you were using it on where it didn't work, and what the result of it not working was?

Out of the top 25 (as of this writing), 8 defenses use Astra, Valkyrie Slayer... so not even a majority, let alone "95%".
A pretty sizable amount of the top of the leaderboard, given her rarity, but not nearly as prolific as you're posturing.
Also, it shouldn't surprise anyone that the top of the leaderboard is volatile mid-week, and won't necessarily reflect what it'll look like at the end of the week. You should know that; you're not new here.

Cheers my friend, it would be good to come back, but I just read Kaz's post above that sadly the "Speedy Trooper" enhancement won't be in the next release, so my come back will have to wait. I did however reinstall the game yesterday to check on my toons (I do miss my homies! :) ), but had a darn MACLO15 just when I defeated the boss on BNW GoL VII. Got so ticked off, so ran through the 15 loyal troopers who still kept me, and then deleted the game. Sigh, these bugs and freezes will end up making my return a very brief one indeed! I can see why SK and so many others are just fed up of the bugs, crashes, and freezes.

Thanks for the info and screenshot. I've passed that along to QA to try and verify, but interestingly, one of the combat programmers says he thinks he may have fixed this for the next update... so maybe it'll be good? I'll try to see if we can double-check this scenario before we submit the update so we at least know.
Can you let me know what passives should have been on your team if the Death Dog hadn't removed them? (feel free to PM me directly if you don't want to expose your attacker setup in a forum post)

Of the issues I know we've resolved, these scenarios are examples of what is fixed:
A character with a reset skill is last to act on a team, and attacks an enemy team with Blizzard Shields. There's a currently-live bug where, if your last character's attack resets, the blizzard shield can expire after the initial attack (which can immediately freeze), but since the resetting character is trying to do extra attacks, it can't if frozen. Thus, a combat hang (in the upcoming update, the shields will wait until after all reset attacks are done before expiring and trying to do their expire effects)
A character with a revival skill also adds beneficial effects. There's a currently-live bug where the extra beneficial effects don't always apply to the revived character (or at least won't look like it, but may silently be there). In the upcoming update, if a skill says it will give Endure to all teammates, it should do that, even for characters that are revived with said skill.
So hopefully these will fix the hangs/freezing that can occur in BNW with toons that have shields or revive like GCR?
I'll bring up the Death Dog / Clairvoyant issue with our QA.

Its like its doing a "cleanse" of good effects. I'm using Life Talismans so not sure if that is having an impact or not, or if its just purely because she has been revived.

There is one confirmed case I know we're fixing that relates to Brave New World, and there is some general combat system improvements which should fix some other cases. There are still other cases relating to shields and/or reviving that we're investigating, though. The situation should be improved, but may not be fully solved for everyone.

She is a lv 4 that removes buffs AND stuns (apparently with 100% chance) with basic attack. Basic attack is also AoE, and true damage btw. Mandatory 3 purples so she can pack immortality too... CG is a 5 and got nerfed to oblivion for much less than that.... come on, that toon is too strong as it is.
I don't like nerfs, but some toons are released with too much advantage compared to others, and so makes too much of a difference sometimes, like wrath and prisoner before him. Astra is on that category as well.
(oh, she also has a passive that prevents marks, doom and curse...)

It would be much harder for me to get that kind of info right now, so that's not something I can answer at this time (I also don't know if I have that level of detail I can dredge up without getting a query from a programmer, and those guys are super busy right now).
Still, if the top players who user her have the best win rates, they'd have to have like.... 6x better win rates than everyone else in the leaderboard that uses her consider how low her average defense win rate is, which seems really unlikely. We know people who are at the absolute top of the leaderboard can only be there with good hold rates, but I while she can be great in the right hands with the right Talismans, I doubt there's that much of a discrepancy.

We're going to keep an eye on her, but there's already some bug fixes we know we're shipping with the next update that mitigate some of her power (certain passives being flagged wrong, allowing her to stun more often), and there's other bug fixes we're needing to investigate too. In addition, there's other things that'll be released soon that will also speak to countering some of what she does...

I don't have Wrath and I use purple val as a substitute. You do have him. If I thought the chances of me getting either of them in the future were the same, I'd swap places in a heartbeat. The guy is just really effin strong.
But do I complain and ask for a nerf? No, I just deal with it. In fact, since he started showing up PvP is the most fun it's been in ages. Revamped my whole offense, had to think long and hard about who to shard and talismans, etc. That's a good thing.
Purple val too requires some changes. You can't just show up with the same ol team, pile on the beneficials and expect an easy win. But she's very beatable, like Sparton says. I'm sure you know that.
As for 5 star vs four, that's not really an argument in this game. There are other 4 stars better than most 5 stars: Gunner Dog, Navigator, SSD, Harpy, WUR, GCR are all out there in numbers, or in the old days AoF and Red Pyro. My guess is they wanted to keep all Valkyries the same rather than represent their value accurately.

As for 5 star vs four, that's not really an argument in this game. There are other 4 stars better than most 5 stars: Gunner Dog, Navigator, SSD, Harpy, WUR, GCR are all out there in numbers, or in the old days AoF and Red Pyro. My guess is they wanted to keep all Valkyries the same rather than represent their value accurately.

90 events souls brought me ZERO of those Valkyries, not sure I'll ever land her, even she being a lv 4.
I do think lv5 toons should be more powerful then lv 4 btw, they more rare and should make more of a different imo.
Maybe what is wrong with her is that she is stunning more than she should... they are gonna fix that as Sparton pointed out, we'll see.
I don't like to call out nerfs, but sometimes one toon makes too much of a difference. Like during old Prisoner days, everyone that got Eternal since BETA had him until I got my first, and that was after the nerf. (maybe killhouse did not have him of the very first week of BETA as well, not sure).
And I have Wrath and called a nerf on him when he was removing beneficial effects with 75% chance. That was ridiculous.
Not calling a nerf because I don't have her, I'd do it anyways, and I don't need her to win, I got eternal last week, also I beat teams with her all the time too, that is also not an issue...
I just think she is too much compared to others. And definitely does an impact on defense numbers.

I do think the true damage on basic attack maybe why I'd prefer her over Wrath, oh, and plus she stuns everybody... but I don't have her and you don't have Wrath so, maybe we just want what we don't have... lol
Sparton did not check the numbers... maybe I'm wrong, who knows... but I find her more difficult to deal than Wrath, again I have Wrath, so I'm used to that toon, maybe that also explains why I perceive things this way.
As 4 x 5 I think as an example ACoTD should be more powerful then Astra, not the case as you said, I just believe it should be.
What I really wish is that they checked toons prior to release, if Astra was working properly, maybe we wouldn't be talking about nerfs. Like what happened to Wrath when he was released too.

I wanted an answer from any of the Dev's about this discussion of Valkyrie Purple.
At some time in a group there was a discussion about the acc up of the defense, in several battles already I caught opponents loaded with buffs and not stunn anyone. In contrast to Valquira's opponents' match at least two will sleep a little. Same thing I notice in the Undead Rescue (red buzz) it's hard to take away from the adversaries' flu.
My question .. Does the AI of defense take any more percentage of Accuricy than attack?

I also have no such pain defeating teams with her on defense, just bring a immune GPD, Hellhound or Artillery Dog, and you're done.
I'm not a fan of nerfings, instead, improving actual skills of not so used chars or bring new ones seems the right choose for me.

RE: To use or not use badges...
The best move is to save 30k badges, and spend the rest on skill shards before they become limited. Here's why:
The devs said there will be a ONE-TIME-ONLY Trooper Soul at around 40-50k, and that we'll have ideally 4 weeks to save up for it. If you have strong Troopers from the forum and you play them all everyday, you should be able to average 15k badges a week. That works out to 60k if you don't spend on anything else over that 4-week period.
Soon, you will be limited to 2 skill shards per week, meaning that you'll be spending 10k/week on them and saving about 5k/week. Once they're limited, you will be stuck with your current badges and the extra accumulation of 5k/week... and anything over 50k (Trooper Soul) will have to go towards the other items in the store, which are far less valuable than the skill shards.
If you haven't left yet, here's some more math:
Saving 30k in badges right now will leave you with a 20k badge deficit for that 50k Trooper soul. That 20k/4 weeks works out to 5k/week needed to be saved. As above, that can be handled while still allowing the 2 skill shard purchase each week. So if my math is correct, saving anything over 30k right now is only good if you want to spend it on souls & stuff in the store.
It sounds very good, what you wrote. The most trooper points you can get is 2500 a day, what you normally don't get. The best I had so far were badges from 49 of my 50 troopers. So normally I get something around 2250 per day.
What I want to say is, that I'll keep around 30.000-35000 badges and spend the rest for skillshards.

It would be much harder for me to get that kind of info right now, so that's not something I can answer at this time (I also don't know if I have that level of detail I can dredge up without getting a query from a programmer, and those guys are super busy right now).
Well from info that we collect it doubles the normal holds of good players, so we are talking about >35%. But ofc if you can get those rates we can be more sure.
With all due respect, I don't know how you can make the argument about defenses and win rates when the Wrath is literally everywhere right now. Or DaveMurray talking about purple beast as if the other two purple beasts weren't more prevalent.
I don't have Wrath and I use purple val as a substitute. You do have him. If I thought the chances of me getting either of them in the future were the same, I'd swap places in a heartbeat. The guy is just really effin strong.

To tell you the truth i obtained Wrath a few days ago but i still can't find a proper use for him in my offence/defence teams. Maybe it's just because i am used to him and i found him weak. Ofc he can still cause me troubles in a fight but it's a one in a thousand attacks.
He is a good char compared to others but he just can't be compared to the purple val.
His basic move is not true damage so shields can destroy you, deals small dmg and remove buffs with a normal probability(since that multi hits thing in the previous update was fixed he truly is on a 45% to remove buffs atm). His power move is very good and he has no passive. On the other hand AoE true damage with very good amount of damage that remove buffs with better proc than wrath and also stuns. Power move is again true damage with heal block, permadeath and perfect corruption and her passive that grants immunity to all team for curse, marks and doom.
Last but not least as G pointed in a previous post she is impossible to get if you didn't get her from the "supposingly better drop rates" BNW souls. You will get Wrath eventually though, even after 10 dupes.
Maybe the bug fixes will be enough to even her powers, we'll see.

Let's not forget that the right talis and the right toons and Eddie are needed for hold rates of >35% like some players have with her.
Unfortunately i don't remember your defence lineup but i witnessed others pairing her with Wrath f.e. and that's ridiculous, it's like removing her from your team because Wrath almost always go first and remove buffs so she can't do anything with her basic move.
To sum it up, my opinion is that she is OP, most of the players that have her say that she isn't and i am fine with it.
There are ways to counter her ofc as there are ways to counter every toon and Eddie. Let's keep in mind though that not all of us have every available toon so not everyone can counter her and that's why we see defences with >35% hold rates.
I don't mind if she is left as she is but i wan't more toons like her and soon if this is the new meta cause atm she can solo a whole team.

Newcomers actually have things even easier, they start the game with a green Harpy which is already a nice counter to the new purple girl since she can't get stunned, Hellhound and GPD aren't hard to get neither... I think that if you are too lazy to prepare your team before a fight, you can lose even again a team with a Blocker using endure if you don't go with a buff remover, or go without immunity against a team which has the corrupt General, or don't bring a cleanser against a Magus CR... I can't see any difference.
Personally I think that if you start a nerfing wheel it will run over Alliance General, Green Harpy, Wrath, Vampire Eddie, Nomad etc, so, again, I'm completely against unnecessary nerfs...
Talking about defense, mine's at 23% now, tomorrow will be <= 20% for sure, and that's my average defense % even before Wrath or the purple girl...

eccho talisma is weird. I'm not using it in pvp, just in BnW in GD and this hard to get extra turn. And a detail .. he by default is already proc 25% chance of extra without shards .. and mine is using eccho.
For those issues that I raised and more that I had forgotten that I wanted a clearer response from dev as with acc of defense.

Slauki somewhere posted an example where his Death Dog removed buffs from every toon - I think Sparton did see it and acknowledge it as a bug

Sentinels in general always proc more when it comes to counter strike,at least that has been my experience. Seems like green harpy, SSD, and AG counter almost guaranteed.
I also had used Viking in pvp for a while and when I would steal counter he seemed to proc any time he was touched.
All other classes seem to proc near the 35% but for whatever reason the greens seem to be double that.

Problem with Death dog is probably due to passive being checked twice. My corrupt harpies apply 2 marks with their passive instead of one, and I'd bet it's related. Nice for farming with two of them, apply 4 marks at the start. :cool:

The only reason I typically never answer that is that I have repeatedly answered that as far back as when PVP was introduced, and typically people who think that the AI has an advantage don't believe me when I say the opponent does not gain any advantages. Enemy AI is as smart as your own AI when you turn on Autoplay; there isn't differing perfect chances or AI priorities, there isn't different target deviation rules, and it has the same randomness for deciding who will go first or not.
The only AI overrides the game has is if we set something in PVE content for a given wave of enemies (to minimize the chance of Assassin Golden Sons overlapping Endure constantly in early floors of Lord of Light, for example). We don't have the tech to do AI differences in PVP between you and your opponent even if we wanted do, and the only global modifiers for PVP that exist have to do with Power and Fury generation/starting amounts (with the former applying equally to both sides and the latter differentiating based on who goes first, not who is the player).

Classes do not have any inherent advantage or disadvantage with proccing things like Strike or Revenge. However, Strike and Revenge proc based on number of hits that could trigger it, so if you keep using Navigator Eddie's Landfall (3 hits per enemy), you'll see the enemy trigger Strike, Revenge, etc way more than if a Sentinel Soulless Demon is punching (which is a single hit per enemy).
Same goes for a lot of other things which care about triggering based on taking damage (such as Void Shields).

Thanks! Probably applies to other passives as well, although some it doesn't really make a noticeable difference. The bug I enjoyed the most was Shaman slapping 6 to 9 marks on each enemy with his fury. Think that one was fixed with the last update though. I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to get his fury max'ed in one turn. Would have been awesome for pvp. :D

Right now the current plan involves some different kinds of ways of getting higher-rarity characters (some existing, some new), but I've been wanting to kick around a few ideas to Kaz about ways we could mix up the usual 4 star fragment events with other kinds of events and kinds of resulting characters (such as one for high rarity characters but focusing on non-Eddies, as JJJ428 suggested, or maybe focusing on a particular theme, such as a Dog Soul).
i'm sure there is noone in the community who wouldn't agree that the immortal event was the best event ever so far, glad to hear that you are cooking something similar.
i would love to see something like that again. that was hell of a ride i almost played every single minute available. would have burned my entire stack if i we had more time :D

put some immunity talismans on your characters, bring an artillery or hellhoud, don't have any of those? a GPD! everyone should have one by now.
He can 1) Cleanse your stunned characters or 2)heal and give immunity to your whole team!
The game is becoming more about strategy and finding out how to counter XYZ characters, and that's how it should be.
And no, I do not have her yet.

A dog soul where with the first soul obtained you get to choose which Dog toon you want would be great. I'm still missing Death Dog, Rocket Dog and Pharoah Dog and I am sure a lot of others would be missing the odd one too. Maybe after the next event, which should be an Assassin toon (Corrupt Droid or Rescuer maybe?), this can be done :)
I hope the AoF fix works, I just lost in the arena where the opposing AoF had extra turns due to its passive kicking in when it shouldn't have. Grrr pisses me off.

one thing we didn't discuss yet: the change of thorn talismans.
i think these talismans will be all over the place if they reflect physical and true damage along with removing buffs and causing permadeath. maybe they should only reflect one kind of damage.
i could imgine them to really fuck up everything and to replace strike talis. i fear they will be way to strong compared to others and they have no counter aside a team which solely does magic damage (lol)....
any thoughts?

I was actually happy to see that change. So many true damn chars in the arena because they have no true counter. Finally an answer to that annoying SSD with Strike! :D
Is there a talisman that does the same but with magic and true damage reflect instead of physical damage? If not, could Cyclone be a candidate for that? That way we can have teams with Void, Thorn and Cyclone shields and no chars will be immune BWAHAHAHAHA! :D

Oh btw, I dont think anything could replace Strike. They work too well and proc like crazy!

We have Advantage Talismans, but those are an augment, so probably not exactly what you're looking for.
We don't really want to encroach on the territory of the Marksman passive characters too much, though.

That is the bug with penetration and piercing. If you attack with it active and it proc's again on that attack, it behaves as though you didn't have the buff. I discovered it a while back and reported it. If you have penetrating or piercing active and do a good hit instead of perfect, it will do more damage than the perfect (if the effect proc's again). Have to hope on your hit with it active that the talisman fails to proc in order to get the buff. Stupid, but hopefully will be solved with the next update.

I have it on my GRE for arena - his multiple attacks can trigger it immediately and often. I combine it with the advantage talisman to smack down annoying sentinal characters

Liking the look of this update. Instead of debuffing Vampire Hunter much, a counter is created. Some much needed updates to Aces High Eddie mean that I may finally shard him. Only negative to me is the trooper store limits; as a trooper point hoarder, I appreciate the ability to wait and buy in bulk to suit my needs (I.e. If I want to try for characters in a particular class, I can buy 20-30 souls in that class at once if I have the points). I can see where this behavior might not be liked by those running the game, but being able to do so is one of those little quality of experience things that I appreciate. Having to blow my points stash now (or be stuck with 200k and a limited store) means that I don't get to plan as effectively. It would be nice if the only things limited in the store were the future items added (like trooper Soul fragments, etc) and the souls/shards were left unlimited.
Sparton/Kaz, a few things for you:
-Patch notes for the Steal Breath changes may be wrong; steal breath silences enemies and the notes say something about blinding.
-Regarding the update to the block passive, it sounds like it will take into account shields. If a block character has a guard shield applied, will indirect damage boost fury the same as direct damage?
@Sparton, I am referring to Viking's Magic Resistance Charge.
When active, it supposed to increase damage/defense based on MR, and it does nothing.

I had time to blow through troopers in ailing kingdom on the drive to work, but no time for much else, least of all to grind the tough BNW dungeons. For those that missed out on this character, is there a plan to offer it again? Perhaps as a reward for a super-difficult mission? Having played with a trooper's Kari, it's a godsend in the BNW dungeons and I would certainly like the opportunity to get one of my own.

The wording is upmost confusing since it says "enhancing" ability...so the way i understood these skills is that they boost the NEXT MR/Def "enhancing" ability...
For example: If active and SDD uses Brace "Increase MR and Def for 2 turns", then THAT skill would increase MR and Def more....
But then it's LVLs adding damage % wouldn't make any sense, so i guess your interpretation is correct and the skills don't work. In that case the word "enhancing" should be replaced with the word "scaling" perhaps?
Same thing goes for the Furious charge skill, which doubles the damage of the next physical attack...but what are those % on lvls, which have been added later? In my understanding:if something doubles something it's simply doubled. do the 5% add to that doubling or after it has been doubled?!
Even after a year of developing there are still sooooo many skills with wrong/confusing/misleading/incomplete descriptions! NF- Please let one of your guys (preferably someone who has previous experience with CCGs like MTG) take these files home and correct it. It would take ME 30min to do...is that such a big deal?

All I want to know is if she really helps that much in defense, what is the typical hold rate with her?
I also would live a PvP arena where people struggle to get 70-80% winning rates, playing and winning 99%+ of the time gets boring, people need to be challenged to keep them interested in the game.

Yeah, someone else pointed that out as well; it'll be corrected to indicate a change to the Silence in the final patch notes.

We do plan on event exclusive characters returning in some fashion eventually, but we don't have an exact plan for when or how at this time.

The doubling would be 100% more, so 5% more of 100% would be 105%, 5% more of 105% would be 110%, etc.
That said, the doubling here seems to be misleading, as the base amount of increase from most charge effects seems to be 80% more at skill level 1, not 100% more. Something else I've made a note to adjust.

As noted earlier in this post, I do agree that I should do a pass on the "Charge"-related skills; however, it's worth noting that there's a bug with our skill level display system that requires us to set it to the "damage scaling" level type for the Charge scaling to work, so while I can make the skill descriptions more clear with some simple editing, the skill level stuff will still be a bit weird until that programming bug is fixed.

I finish this week with 21% on defense ..
As you said, it is not very difficult to neutralize it. Any toon type AD has already done the service for the first round.

Just to chime in here, I can verify that this skill is working - when you do the MR Charge, then run the Call To Arms, Viking's damage goes way up (like around 17k on a hit). At 5 power and a full round waste, it's a tough move set to make use of. I have never seen it get used in the Arena and it really shouldn't be with the round you have to wait. It's probably best utilized for something like MLOL, or BNW GoD maybe, but that's just in theory, not something I tested.
Viking Eddie would REALLY benefit from some move changes, maybe turn him back into a powerhouse. He just looks like too much of a badass with that giant axe to deliver such a mediocre blow. Or maybe you release a Warrior Viking Eddie that just destroys? Would love to make more use of him. Easily my favorite looking Eddie.

Yeah, that is fair. It's a bug with how the skill level data works. The skill level data only accepts a small subset of "types" for communicating improvements from skill levels, and improving the potency of all kinds of skills is displayed as "Damage" increases. As such, until we can adjust the skill level improvements for "Charge" skills to use a different description for the potency increase levels, they still have that "Damage" skill level description, which is somewhat misleading for stuff like "Physical Charge" and really misleading for things like "Defense Charge".
So will this damage be then added to the 3rd action in this looooong chain of boosting skills to do one stronger attack?
Just like Mariner said-at 4 Power (and why exactly does Entomb cost just 3?) it is a rather long and pricey process...
It's long and pricey, but lets a normally defensive character to a very high amount of damage. Not necessarily the most viable strategy for PVP, but that doesn't preclude that from being useful in other game modes (and in some situations in PVP where you can not be punished for it).

Ahh! now you increase the sacrifice rewards!!? i have been chasing rare souls last week like mad. did about 5 tiers 6 and filled the vortex twice! all in hope for some legendary souls (which then gave me toons like: 2x sentinel golden son and green robot! but that's irrelevant).
wish it could reward us retrospectively about a week back :P
EDIT: Btw: could you consider leaving the legendary soul fragments drop along with rare souls as a permanent feature? that would make the feeling of a 50 pack flashing blue eyes a little less painful...

I've just had the game hang in Garden of Life against Dragon King, no idea what could have caused it. It should be having its turn but its not. Hang in 4th wave due to issues in 3rd wave I know about but against dragon king? these new events are a nice idea but I'd rather you focus on fixing stuff first. 15 SoT and time spent playing the game for nothing gets tiring. We've all been saying it...
