View Full Version : Hallowed Eddie seems really underpowered
So I finally have a few skill shards applied to Hallowed Eddie... and well. I'm really underwhelmed by it's Fury ability primarily. (Skill shards maxed for Fury - its at level 5) -- and all talismans maxed (Guardian x4 and Stone x2).
Generally the Fury deals roughly 12k damage to a single target (running LOL Gunner lvl 7 and roughly 11.5K on the "lord"). Yes, IF there are debuffs on the character you might get a boost. But it seems really really weak. It would be one thing if the boost was a possibility regardless of debuffs on the target, but really, it's not much of a Fury attack if there are no debuffs present.
Note that I have HE's basic ability at level 5 (maxed) as well and it's doing 7-8K damage with a single (perfect) hit in the same scenario.
I mean Grim Reaper Eddie does 16K damage with the basic ability Slash (max Skill shards). Aces High Eddie does 11-13k damage with its basic ability, Shoot (max skill shards). Then there are many characters that even without skill shard come close to a 9-10K hit.
Overall I think it's a good character. I just feel like the Fury skill is really below par when compared to other general characters and especially when compared to other Eddie fury skills.
I'd also point out that I think all other Eddie's have at least 1 ability that is a multi-target attack ability, even if it's just a "apply debuff or mark" ability. Not Hallowed Eddie.
So is it just me or is Hallowed Eddie's fury really, really weak?

I thought he did physical damage? So why do you put 4 guardian on him then and 2 stone? 3 is required for the effect and 6 sentinels aint doing much for damage.
Guardian is an attack (Warrior) talisman which takes a 2-set for ATK x DEF. (so the effect is actually applied twice with the 4-set)
Stone is a defense talisman (Sentinel) which takes a 2-set for DEF x HP
Note: Required are 2 Sentinel and 1 Warrior talisman.
It is a physical damage toon.. I think you have mistaken what the Guardian talisman does.
The attack stat is 1050+1878 at the moment.

Still why go with attxdef set? His def is 300 vs strength 1050. Try 2 sets of strength talis on him instead.
So you're suggesting I drop nearly 1.5k from the attack stat? How on earth would that improve the character?
((ATK x2 DEF) x2) is MUCH higher than ((ATK +15%) x2)
In short, 15% of 1050ATK = ~158 two sets means +316 ATK - while (333DEF x 2) x 2 = roughly +1,800 ATK
Since 2 sentinels are required and a DEF of ~300 basically means he'd be easy to kill, raising defense is wise.
It's not like I apply talismans without checking. I appreciate the advice, but clearly you are merely speculating.
Or you fail to realize that ATX + 15% means 1050*.15 = ATK 1050+158 and NOT 1050 + (1050*.15) = ATK 1050+1,200.
Guardian talismans will almost always raise ATK more than Strength talismans, unless the toon has a very, very low DEF stat.

Guardian states it increase att by 20% of def and 20% of 333 is far less than 15% of 1050.
But i could be wrong :p

I am also surprised like Browno why to pack him with Guardians or Stone Talis... Stone/Iron talis are GOOD for toons scaling their physical damage by DEF stats like: FOTD Eddie or The Wicker Man (Boss)... Sure thing you do as you wish my friend - yet there's no need to boost his DEF even futher using those talis...
You put your attack stats - fine, but the numbers can be higher...
My ATK stats: 1050 + 2040...
DEF: 333 + 684
HP: 10108 + 13622
And I didn't use Guardian or Strenght ones...

I had a reply all written and the site wiped it...
Your'e right 20% of DEF .. but ATK x DEF is better than ATK+%
Anyway... I don't have 1-to-1 Guardian and Strength talisman classes (Safeguard, Fierce, Skilled) all at level 50. I need to level up a couple Strength talismans. But just using the lvl 50 skilled Strength I do have, the swap raises HP and DEF, but lowers ATK, I'll level up a couple Strength and do a 1 to 1 comparison.
In any event.. the point of this thread was NOT my talisman usage.. it's how weak Hallowed Eddie's Fury seems to be. Altering stats by a few hundred points isn't going to change that fact.

I am leveling up Echo talismans... but they aren't ready yet. And to me, Class Advantage is most beneficial when a toon has multiple turns, like when echo is in place. So yeah, not stating my talisman usage is optimum, but it's better than Strength talismans.

Well... Pure coincidence LOL All my echo talis are Fierce (ATK/DEF) and so Advantage (Overwhelming - as well ATK/DEF)... I had those maxed out at hand so I put them... First thing was to build his ATK, then DEF happen like it is...
P.S. To be on topic - yes he's NOT the best Eddie Gunner I used - and it happened I've tested and own all of them beside AHE... Mainly because his fury is pointed not at the crowd but at single target...

I used a troopers hallowed and he did around 30k with fury. I think i used nomad too, and i do not recall what enemy i used it on.
But maxed strength is the way to go for max damage on him.

Sure, he can do a LOT more damage when being buffed by for example Wicker Man, Nomad, Alliance General... Yet while he's on his own strenghts - it's NOT that impressive regarding how HARD it was to get him and being sort of above premium character (G/A)...

Yeah i get that. I believe the other gunner eddies are more useful, but he might be a fun toon nonetheless.
I'm just underwhelmed by the Fury.
Just looking at Fury benefits other than actual hitting power......
Pharaoh: grants invisibility to allies
FOTD: Heals allies
Viking: Freeze all enemies
Visions: stun all enemies
Eddie: healblock all enemies
Carriage Rider: Remove enemy buffs, raise ally stats, lower enemy stats
Reaper: revive, cast doom
Aces High: Guard Shield, crit
Tailgunner: Extra Turn to allies on kill
Storm: Blinding Burn on all enemies
Shaman: Ignite, Smite or Marks on all enemies
Samurai: Increase enemy dmg taken, Gain Armor penetration
Wicker: Cast Flare on all enemies
Soldier: Increase ally stats
Vampire Hunter: Revive, 100% Crit strike
Navigator: Blinds enemies, class advtg on allies
Eternal: Stun enemies, seal flare or doom on enemies
Cyborg: Steal power and fury
Then there's this small group with fairly self-contained, unimpressive fury abilities which really rely on other status effects being present on the target...
Mystic: Trigger Doom if it's present
RTOH: Gain Heal shield on self
SOL: Extends debuffs on enemies
Rainmaker: Consume Marks if they are present
Mummy: Addtl dmg to stunned targets if they are already stunned
Hallowed: If debuffs are present on target then maybe gain Perfect immunity, ascension, or echo for self
So I guess Hallowed Eddie was designed to fit into the second group?
Seems a shame... s'all I'm saying.
Would have been nice if fury included something like the Gunner Mayan Priestesses Soul Extraction ability.

I played him once from a trooper. Only way I can see him being broken is if he has invincibility and perfect immunity and he spams his future basic, basically keeps him unkillable.
Edit: Turns out that Perfect Immunity and Ascension can't be extended like I thought they could, so my theory is null.

I fully sharded mine only couse Hallowed Be Thy Name is a masterpiece :cool:
The damage output(Echo+Shell) is ok for me.. he lack some removal skill & at least 1 AOE attack in my opinion ..
But yeah as it is now is pretty useless in pvp.. for fun only

You need to read the effects of the guardian set again. it adds 20% of DEF to ATK, not 2x (dunno where you get that 2X from)...
So it’s true that in case of HE-15% of his ATK is more than 20% of his DEF.
I didn’t get him,so i can’t comment on his strength and usability...but i’m not a fan of his simply because i find him a bit overweight :D

To be honest I have never once used him and he is fully sharded and has maxed valor equipped. For the recent buffs he received he can now get about 4 turns in a row and he can use the fury in a seemingly endless loop when paired with the (also recently buffed) Alchemist. When that happens there is no coming back in the battle. Ever. I’d say they’ve made both of those characters 5 star worthy to be sure.

I regularly get a fury loop from Hallowed Eddie, if you don't think it's possible get more fury relics!
As for his damage? Well yes it would include the odd buff from he's ally's but I have managed over 150k damage with him on quite a few occasions running Valor talisman.
He does just fine, each character in a team is designed to be complemented by its team mates if it's not working than try changing the team members or their talisman...
The vast majority of defence and attack teams are using him at the high end of arena so he must be doing something right!

Only because it kills the opponent after the second fury in a row. Ive seen revenge talis on Icarus pump Hallowed’s fury so it ends up looping, ending the battle.

Yep that's one way, but if M Lillith keeps getting turns or Echo is active on characters giving them extra turns etc... the fury gets up there rather quickly... I guess this is why Gunner Fury relics are so damned expensive at the high end.
Gunner fury regenerates quickly by default, add some relics or special points to the mix and it's a recipe for repeat furys..

with echo talis perhaps but i don't have them and don't know how some players have it :)
My fury relics are high too level 8 in yellow i think but you win only 1% for 1900 at that level i don't use more than 1 yellow character actually, def and att :)
I didn't find a def team that did a loop with him and i don't use his fury ^^
