Garden of Dismay Vll Dragon King

Please help! I'm new and apologize if this has been discussed. I thought the update was going to address the Dragon King difficulty. What's the deal with the defense blocks continuously refilling before Dragon King can take any damage? Such a waste of Sands of Time and my time. Is there some secret? He can't kill my team and I can't do any damage to him.
