What is a Zone Eater? I don't mean what the Talismans do. I mean, like, what zone is being eaten and who or what is eating the zone, and why is it being eaten?

Nonononono, I already know what they do. I just want to know the background/origin/inspiration for the name "Zone Eater". :)

Lol, very philosophical question, the answer of which may be quite above my capabilities, and will need someone from NF to rationalize the reasoning behind said name! :)

I've wondered this as well. It's a pretty odd name if you ask me lol

Final Fantasy VI (III in the US) had a monster called a zone eater. I don’t know if that was NFs influence, but its possible some of the devs are familiar with the old FF titles and got it from there.

Huh. Perhaps a Zone Eater isn't something that eats zones, but rather something that eats and is from a zone?

Well this is a very interesting take on the concept of a zone eater. This should definitely be preserved for all ages and not deleted due to it being spam
The "zone" appears to be spam.. so the Zone Eater eats spam?? Or does it puke up spam after overindulging??

It's also a Yu-Gi-Oh card from the early 2000's with quite possibly the worst effect ever

My interpretation of "Zone Eater", specifically with how it was used to name a creature in Final Fantasy, is that of hyperbole.
Being a giant worm consuming everything in its path, "Zone Eater" could be loosely based on the concept of a black hole - a complete an utter void of insatiable nothingness.
