Each floor awards a fixed amount of XP that gets split between all of the characters you used, ignoring a Trooper. So, changing the number of characters you send (e.g., leaving passenger Eddies empty) will cause a different amount of XP to be given to each character.

depends on the number of guys you bring to the war. imagine every level gives 10k in total. if you bring two fighter everyone will get 5k. if you bring 4 everyone will get 2500xp and so on (trooper doesn't count)

I have been bringing the same amount as before, just lesser 1 , 2 and 3 star toons.

if you use only 1 or 2 not full character you win for exemple 4000 xp for each
If you use 3 not full you win 3000 for each
And if you use a trooper you win more xp too
