As far as I can tell, they can drop anyplace 3* shards drop. Probably just having a bit of bad RNG.
Hmmmm. Strange how the "drop info" button shows certain things that don't necessarily drop. For example, the madness battlefield drop info shows 3* evolution shard (green), but I've played countless stages over and over and have yet to see a 3 star evolution shard from battlefield. Underworld in hard shows 3* purple evolution shards and I was able to gather enough over 2 days to evolve my mummy dog to 5 stars. This is grinding only the 3rd mission in that stage. That entire time I got white 3* evolution shards, 1 yellow, and a most purple. So it seems the drop info button is pretty dead on with the Underworld Hard stage. But I have yet to get a single green or blue one (the ones I need!). If anyone has had any luck obtaining these, please help!
To be honest, it appears to be another statistically broken in game mechanic. Purple shards and runes appear most on the underworld stage and on the hard setting appear to drop at a minimum value of 3 stars frequently. Compare this to a stage like the pyramid one where on the madness setting runes and shards for magus characters drop much more frequently but are of much lower quality (2 stars?). My crude observation is that grinding in underworld on the hardest setting provides the best results, but I use the runes and shards on different character classes than what they were intended for. As to your question, with regards to the evolution shards, the blue ones are proving difficult to find. :(

I have farmed the Underworld Hard and Madness. The shard drops are similar. I farm Circle of Fear on Hard for shards, on madness for gold.
I'm convinced the 3* blue evolution shards don't exist. I can't find one at all. I have 3* rainbow ones but until I can get these there's just no way I will be able to progress in the Underworld madness level.

They shouldn't be that hard to get, especially since all the other colors except blue can be gotten on a 4-star. You should only need a 4 star character to get the shards to promote to 5 stars. I did most of the content with Carriage Driver Eddie ans that is the character I enjoy playing. I should not have to hope to get a different 5 star Eddie from a Soul shard, so I can level it to get blue Evo shards to promote Carriage Driver to 5-stars so I can redo the same content. This game if fun, but I should not have to dedicate my life to it to promote a character from 4 to 5 stars.Quote:

3 star gold evo shards even tougher to find
That's the "Rainbow" one (the Evo shard). It is the neutral one needed by all classes. The blue ones for Magus are a darker blue. I have enough Rainbow ones. The green one is a leveling shard and not an Evo shard.Quote:

My count so far
I got one a few minutes ago in Underworld Madness. The first one too. But I got more of Gunner and Assassin. I have like 20 of the rainbow ones.
Honestly, I'm having more issues trying to get my talismans to five stars, I've done seven (4 red, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 blue).I've promoted a couple characters to 4 stars in the meantime and yesterday I levelled my Hellhound to five stars just because I had the shards to do it. Finding the upgrade shards for blue characters and upgrade runes for blue characters seems to be the biggest bottleneck. The other colours aren't nearly as difficult to find. In addition finding some of those super rare talismans is a problem.
I don't have any statistics to back up my claim, but I feel like if you're running red characters or purple/yellow characters/talismans you'll have the most success finding stuff. At the other end of the spectrum if you're looking for blue stuff, you're going to have the most problems. A function of the fact that blue characters are generally the most powerful in the game? Idk.
Well then explain the difficulty in finding green EVO shards as well. Supposedly green characters are the "weakest", and yet the green EVO shards are just as hard to find as the blue ones.
You may not believe it, but I think I've found more green EVO shards than the other 4...
I've levelled one greed talisman, and I have a few shards...
I don't mean the evolution of talismans. I meant the Shards to evolve green characters to 5 star. Those 3 star evolution shards are as rare for me as blue. In fact, I have one blue 3 star and 0 green. To me they are equally as rare. Whereas I have evolved my 2 star mummy dog (purple) to 5 stars and a purple possessed mine to 4 stars and only short 2 more purple 3 star shards in order to get THAT guy to 5 stars. It's obvious the purple are the most common. At least in my experience. Meanwhile, my mummy Eddie has sat at 4 stars for almost 2 weeks now.
The retarded part is the purple characters are by far the least common :/

Thanks Trystangst! I jsut played toys of death on madness per your recommendation and got 2 green 3-star shards! All in 10 minutes!

It just happened. Battlefield, Toys of Death, Madness. A 3* blue shard.
Does anyone have a reliable level to farm Gunner 3* shards? I know that Underworld shows in the drops that you can get them, but I only got 2 Gunner ones and like 15 of the Assassin type.
I don't have any good Assassins :(
Current totals (mostly from battlefield madness)
4 3* green
4 3* red
3 3* purple
1 3* blue
9 3* white
The purples came from Underworld hard, and I haven't seen one (or a yellow) from Battlefield. So I'd wager find a good level you can grind in Underworld, cause that's your best bet.
