Hope it doesn't take you as long looking into that as it seems to be in releasing BNW? ;) (only joking)

Like I said, why not just give a few prominent and regular posters moderator rights so they can get rid of the crap as soon as it appears?

I think that far better sollution would be permanently blocking the ability of spreading spam (IPs bans?), than allow it to happen then delete everything... I find it time consuming and NOT as effective...

i was in a forum some years ago where the first 10 posts of new members had to be approved by a mod. actually this would solve the problem immediatly...

I am thinking more short term while it takes however long it is going to take to look at and implement alternative anti spam systems. IP bans won't work as they are probably bouncing through proxy servers left, right and centre.

Look at tha last hour and a half - 85 posts of sheer spam posted :( :( :(
