Thanks for the explanation and the quickness of it. Anyway, no matter what, it's something to look forward to \,,/

I agree with Spohholz.
I stay in the middle tier just because that is where I have time to play.
This week I ended up with a little extra time and for a few days I was playing in the top 50 and then top 100 and still falling back to my normal ranks as my week gets busier and the weekend comes. I was winning a good bit even in the top 50 which was pretty exciting and probably kept me playing more than I normally would. Sometimes it would take me 2-3 tries to beat a team, but I love the challenge of finally overcoming a good defense (even it it is only a lucky round LOL).
It is normal for me to creep into the higher ranks (500-250ish for me) on Thursday and Friday as I try to build up some cushion so I don't fall too far and lose my rewards due to not playing over the weekend much.
I hope i am wrong, but it seems that I won't be able to win much (at all?) once I gain a few ranks and start hitting the relic teams? I think it will really depend on where the breaks occur between those who have the coins to spend and those that don't. I wonder what rank that line will really begin to show?
I love the game. Hopefully I'll still feel like I'm middle-of-the-road competitive. LOL
Quick translation for the newer players: "Could take up to 6-8 months"
It's not like players complained pretty much from start what a time sink this game is for basically next to no reward.
I'm not negative by the way - I am realistic based on what I have seen since July 2016. Also the devs never ever answered to drop rates and those days they seem to be lower then ever before.
I gladly repeat myself: Not one more cent ever again until things change or unless the drop rates / RNG stats are revealed.
Some people say: Well it's like gambling - that's true. But there are even laws for gambling at least in most countries. I wonder if Nodding Fraud is compliant to them? Any lawyers around that could explain more on this matter? Would be really interesting.
you miss the point where most players are Casual players... most people won't grind for more than 1 hour or two. they have lives, you know?
anyhow, another idea: just make a random battle section, where you play against a random team with all characters and buff them up. that's challenging and fun enough for casual players. and keep the 100 toppest players mode for gauntlet or whatever...
thanks for the detailed answer kaz. looking forward to the new content, i'm sure it's an excellent addition in the longterm. but i think your statement above is not entirely accurate. yeah, we will match the people around us a lot. but how many guys are at the top of the arena and really have a real warchest of coins? 15 maybe or 25. i bet i can name the most of them exactly. but we are facing many more names when clearing lists. so we will be matched vs much weaker opponents 80% of the time, that's the logic of the machmaking for the top players.
so we have fistfull of guys who have a huge advantage over 98% of all other players, maybe even 99%. you basicly created a champions league for a few players while the rest is playing in the 2nd or 3rd division. that's why i dislike the relics in the arena. how about something like relic bonuses count only 50% in the arena, while they count 100% in the cosmos? this would sound more reasonable to me.
but i'm positive that we can turn this into a positive addition overall after a while, i just hope that not too many players will quit because ot this. once new content is there this step might be very good, but it would have been better to get this content out before of the relics. but i understand the logic behind this approach too.
let's see how things will turn out...
Like I've always posted.. this "game" ensures the top layers in the arena ALWAYS stay at the top. It's a FUTILE effort to attempt to climb the ranks. You have to be playing since day 1 or close to it. All Relics do is create a larger chasm. And it seem will give better rewards to the players ALREADY getting better rewards. It's a bullshit feature. Great off the cuff but really crappy when you think about it.
And to suggest relics are good or even needed in PVE is, frankly, laughable. they aren't needed. EVERY player that has EVER cleared Underworld madness did it WITHOUT relics. It's not like no one here achieved that. I constantly read about not increasing drop rates or rewards for fear of "speeding progression" through the "game".... now Relics are being touted as a way of "speeding progression"? So...... yeah.. suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. Y'll need to be consistent on your marketing messages. The snake oil is slipping out.
Wait... let me turn around so you can blow more smoke.....
LotB has become a big snowball system. They release overpowered shit, that everyone is hunting, then the release much more overpowered shit to compensate the earlier overpowered shit.
Example:
Perfect immunity - with all the new toons that can remove this "perfect" buffs, we are, where we were b4.
This will continue, but like every snowball system it will crash with a mighty booom and it is over.
It is funny how some players still believe, what NF is saying, we are sorry, that wasn't intentionally - bullshit, they kow exactly, what they are doing.
NF has now reached a fraudlevel, were reporting them at apple simply isn't enough. Everyone has to earn money, but the way NF is doing it, is simply to steal the earned money of the players.
I bought Assassin health relic. Working on getting defense for them too. So at least Wrath and Rainmaker can maybe live a little longer. Not gonna go beyong that unless I'm really bored though.
I had an unusual amount of free time this weekend and I ended up in the top 100 of the arena (barely). I was surprised to find that I could actually beat teams that had a ton of relics (I only have 2). It took forever when I came up against teams with multiple health talismans. I faced a good many teams with a high number of relics and won. Again it just took a lot longer. I'm sure my defense was getting put down pretty quickly by those teams, but I was happy to see that I could beat them eventually. Arena is already a time sink for me and it just got longer, but I can win still at least.
Attachment 4415
this shows a +80 health
this means level 10 from
level 5 that I have now is at 40% and bradata says 46% for level 6, the diminishing amount of percentage increase must have a final jump from level 9 to 10 in order to get 80%?
it costs more and more and gives less and less until the final purchase?
Attachment 4418
+80% for other class relics and other stats not just health
Global
Level 4 Health = +34%
I have to pitch in with the others complaining about the new relics feature. From my experience with online gaming, massive grinding was always the downfall of great games. I really enjoy the arena so far but, if I come to the conclusion that smart team-building and good battle strategies aren't enough to guarantee a fair amount of wins, I will have no choice than to stop playing. Sorry NF, very bad idea. I know it sounds crazy, but you should drop it for the game to survive.
Now that we have the relics for a week, I think they should have capped purchasing them. And I hate limited purchases, but it would have kept the arena more balanced.
A limit of so many of each class, or maybe a total of something like 20 per week may have been a good idea. The battles are taking longer which I hate, and the Arena just feels off.
I had around 10,000 IC that I spent in relics last week, plus what I earned since then and the battles are still a pita. Not having fun in the arena right now, but I know I’ll fall behind if I don’t grind for more relics. Ugh
I love the idea of the relics overall, but question their implementation.
The lame sacrifice event this month is further killing the desire to play as well. :(
To be honest I've had next to no desire to play at all anymore. I logged in over the last week just to buy the 50 ironite skill shard and to play my forum troopers. The trooper grind is too long, and the only other thing right now is PvP and even the fun of PvP is getting stale for me, I've put almost no effort in my own relics other than just buying the level 1 versions simply to say I have all of them.
The Gauntlet is going to be a massive breath of fresh air for me but hopefully it shows up before I decide to quit entirely.
I feel you, guys! I had some Iron coins saved, more than you T-Man but still can't be a mach to some who have pushed much more than most of us before and stocked mountain of IC. I still manage for now but it really takes longer than before.
Also, and I know this was mentioned, but not being able to see the relic % increase before purchase makes no sense. An oversight, or was it meant to kept hidden for some reason?
- Rushed content
- Don't want to publicity show if there is a diminishing return on the %s
- Some are saying that the last Levels the % is way above the others (can't tell for sure.) so its even more P2W/Grind
- Lazyness, so this way they could "tune" the relics and save time on updating the tooltips inside the store (BTW Devs: Why the Hell the store lags more then the entire game when there are more then usual items? there are no excuses to make it lag like that, its heavier than any stage in the hole game.)
I can keep going on and on and on and on... But I'm sure you got the point.
... Ed.
Gunner Relic of Health LvL 1: 100 IC, 12% bonus
Actually I noticed a trend years ago regarding game documentation.....
Some of the revenue is from the game.. the other portion is from selling "strategy" and "guide" books. So the devs probably either write the books.. or sell the information to those writing books. It's a commodity and if they were to share it freely, they may be loosing revenue.
Screws the players, but seems to be the trend since sometime in the early 2000s
I mean remember when those Xbox/Playstation games came with a little book full of information.... not anymore. Now all you get is a little card telling you to "register somewhere!". Now all the info is either hidden away in-game or nowhere to be found... unless you by the book.
I do remember. I remember buying Phantasy Star 2 for Genesis that came with the huge guide book. All game game review publishers said Sega was stupid for doing this (could have sold separately), and to my knowledge it never happened again.
With the internet, is there still money in publishing guides?
Bradata much respect! Went up against your defense, with a strong offense, your defense destroyed me in one round. Your team + Relics proves they make a difference. I’ve been skeptical about the Relics because I can’t see the stat increases. But they’re definitely working. Pros & cons for them, I didn’t like them at first, but now, glad to be getting a chance to bulk up on them before new content released. And until I get a Lilith and more relics, will be avoiding Bradata lol!
Global Health Relic lvl 8 61% health for 1400 IC
Rank 9 will cost me 1575 IC will know % maybe by the end of week.
Warrior ATK 7/10 brings +50%, next one costs 1024 IC
Sentinel Life 6/10 brings +54%, next one costs 1225 IC
And the same hi cost is for Sentinel level 9 giving +85 and then 1750 for lvl 10 health +100%. Shortly my Visions Eddie will have over 70,000 hp!
That all sounds great until you realize boosting attack of a class can let them do 40-50k damage in 1 strike :) I've split my purchases.. some on health.. but never neglecting the other areas... it's paid off well facing teams that have focused primarily on the HP relics.
first post not up to date, mariner is gone?
Quoting Mariner here, "Haha I didn't keep it updated because it was hard to aggregate all the random postings from different threads".
So it would be cool if you want to pick up where he left off.
