Good to know. Thanks and congrats!
Congratulations Killhouse!
Just to share...I gotten all duplicates for the 3 GA souls.
Too dependant on who attack first. Damn my attack team is not that good and I can beat even Nicko or Kaijester if I attack first.
Also the endless revenge cicle keep from climbing the ladder. Win points, lose points, win points, lose points, all from the same person. I keep more time revenging to try to get lost points than attacking to get more points, and this is not fun AT ALL.
IMO revenge and defense rewards must be only Iron Coins, and the only way you can get points is from attacking. Successfull defense? 10 Iron coins. Successfull revenge? 10 coins. Defense broken? Lose nothing. Revenge lost? Lose nothing. This wouls create an interesting choice for us: defend/revenge to get more coins and reap rewards, or attack others to climb the rank and get bigger rewards?
Since the reset I could not go past 1200 points becaus eI got attacked and revenged every time, and since my defense team is AI I have no control, and the chance of losing is way higher than winning.
If this system does not change the top players will always be on top and the bottom will always be bottom. Right now for me PvP is only to get Iron Coins, no fun in losing all your daily progress because you don't control your defense and does not play 24/7
@Edit: if you attack someone and lose, that person should be blocked from attacking again untill next refresh. That generates infinite revenge entries for that person if you keep losing the attack.
Indeed Frost, I've deemed players with low scores does not participate in Arena, or are heavily attacked by players so you might not be able to revenge.
This will become a terrible experience for the low scoring player and difficult for them to participate in Arena fairly.
Well this is beta mode afterall so our feedbacks will help to make the system better (hopefully).
Thanks for sharing Killhouse - you were a beast! Congrats and hopefully the souls pay off; like Kaijester mine were all trash.
Appreciated you sharing strategy and the thought behind your attacks. For obvious reasons there has been little discussion of that on these boards, so it was refreshing to see.
Thanks! Haven't popped the legendary and 3 gunner/assassin souls yet... for now I can convince myself it was worth the time and resources hoping I get a new character from them.
Completely agree with frost, I had a continuous revenge cycle with max one night... easily 20 back and fourths until two revenges in a row his defense froze my entire team and I watched the points slip out of my hands. Lesson learned and good team building by him.
Unfortunately with the limited access to the beta (or due to terrible RNG) I always see the same 7 names in my list of players I can attack. The other 3 are usually pretty familiar as well but at least rotate. So inevitably it looks like I'm picking on certain teams more than others. I've never seen some names from the forums on my list.
Played a little last night, went from 1400 to 1600 points, log in to 9 revenges and 1520 points and every name on my revenge list is on my attack list. Either I pay to refresh it, or attack them fresh and hope they don't revenge again, or spend my time revenging in the hope that they'll stop. These don't feel like meaningful choices.
As for strategy, I wish there was more sharing but understand the reasons at this point. It'll get there as more and more are let into the beta. There are two teams I avoid:
Prisoner teams that stack Passives against you (shield or flex especially) and teams that stack focus and status effects and use the CG. There's been some other creative ones that have surprised me but can usually be beat with careful thought. These two combinations tend to stack the odds against you and unless you get the first attack, have little to no chance of winning since they can only be countered with specific characters that you may not have.
Anyways, time to use up some troopers!
CR Eddie, Warrior Troll, Prisoner and CG
Mummy, Prisoner, CG or Warrior Troll and Sentinel Undead Rescuer
Those two are giving a really hard time... Kudos guys maybe in 6334636 years I'll pull a Prisoner and CG
Haha, in the same position, waiting if I ever get a prisoner, CG, AoF. But not waiting too much.
I see myself in the bye bye list very soon.
Some won't like me for this suggestion but I feel like it would provide some time/life balance to the game.
I think it would be good to increase the time it takes to get a SOW -back to 45 minutes. BUT, for this to work it would also be important to reduce (or eliminate) trophy losses when our AI team loses defense. It works together to decrease the grind and preserve progress.
Here's why I say that -this game is not for hardcore gamers -mostly. You've found a huge niche in Maiden fans and what has been great is keeping this manageable in terms of time. I think it would be hard to overstate how important this is.* This would help. That way we don't have to feel like if we're away for the game for a few hours (or God forbid sleeping) we don't lose all progress we've gained.
AND for the developer it would generate more income for those who have the time and resources to buy more ironite. ALSO, it would make SOW more valuable as a prize to be given for PVP or added to the daily login bonuses, etc.
* This is why I also recommended speed passes for missions that have been completed with 3 skulls.
i agree that the trophy losses are way to high. The problem with the time/life balance for serious gamers is also existent.
But it would be a better possibility IMO to add some more SOW and SOT to the pool, so that it takes approximatly 8 hours to refill. This would be way better IMO since the system is now very pay to win heavy. If we reduce the possibility to play the arena, it will become even more pay to win, since only people who invests huge amounts of ironite would be able to fight for the nice rewards. i feel that this would be even worse for the casual gamer, since also "normal people" should have the possibility to get some of the nice rewards.
sure they probably cannot make it to the top 5, but they should be able to get to the top 30 without spending that much if you ask me....
so maybe 15 sow with a 35 minutes counter would be fine and maybe 90-100 SOT. Speed passes would also be great, or at least to speed the game up to 4x if someone is in a hurry.
You said everything guys (Frost, Bill, Slauki)... This revenge cycles are really annoying, and refreshing list even more... I wake up to find one guy attacking me 4 times over night... and I lower it to one time over day, just to see the same guy 4 times tomorrow... Attack list gives me all lower rank players, so I get 10 points for every win and probably lose 12 or more every time stupid AI loses what I would won in literally one turn, even if I went second. Progress is ridiculous now... got over 30 wins today and I still have almost same ammount of points as yesterday...
Totally agree with you guys, especially on having speed passes. Truth be told, I am considering quitting as a new year resolution to focus on my work, family and my health.
This game is way too time consuming.
Some kind of simulation for auto farming would be nice.
And also just to share, prior LoTB I was playing World Of Tank Blitz...I was a great tankie (i think so at least afterall I did a 7kills in a tier10 battle) but it was a frustrating PVP game as it depend highly on your randomly selected team members to win a game. A game should be enjoyable instead of being frustrating, so I left the game.
Anyway LoTB Arena is at Beta stage so I hope players are not taking it too hard with its flawed system.
Kaijester, I completely get it.
I've considered the same. My suggestions was in hopes that myself and others like me would be able to continue with some time-consideration tweaks.
I would say you're a legend here and would surely be missed, but I respect that you must make the right decision for you and your peeps. Regardless, your legacy will live on in Coalgiver's list!
I left to spend my time on arena in this game, for the same reason it is useless and specially when you reach a stat of reward and don't keep it, it is unfair! When I play on PS4 a game and reach a trophy I don't loose it after!
This system force you to play defense to reach your last ranking and spend a lot of time and ironite to hope of reaching the lead and lose it in the last second when you must go to piss. (yeah I can't make it in the same time).
So I prefer to spend my spare time to my family and no longer be chained to this game.
To see how deep I could fall. I earned a total of 1250 points at 83 ranking before I went to play other games, it was around 20 pm PDT. Today at 9 am PDT I am 999 points and 802 ranking!!!
As I said PvP in LOTB is just for coins for some extra souls. I already have a job, a dog, a pregnant wife about to give birth to our first daughter and I don't have time to play a game 16h a day just to see all my progress gone because I need to sleep at least 8h a day.
I agree with all the sentiments expressed - this takes a lot of time and Ironite
And then you lose a good chunk of what you've fought for
Seeing this is maddening

This is NOT against Pizza Friday - it's just an example. He's gunning for the top and I'm sure my name keeps popping up on his list. I'm sure my name keeps popping up on some of your lists ;) But still frustrating to see. I think it's a limitation of the number of players right now and high-level players have no choice but to keep attacking the same people over and over
I'm giving it a go for the top this week but then taking a step back due to reasons others mentioned. The PvP is well executed, but staying competitive is a full time job. Keep in mind this is still a beta and I'm optimistic they'll be responsive to some of the criticisms that are being repeated over and over
Will still play PvP cause it's fun and can be challenging, but looking forward to new campaign content
Yes, if LOTB devs refuse to deal with this issue that was brought up here months ago (before PvP even launched it was known it would be a problem), then many players will do just that. It *should* have been taken care of prior to the PvP beta testing launch.
Hi! I've tested the arena and I want to thank the developers, they did a good work :)
It's quite addictive and it's funny to meet (and win :P) some of you guys that are posting here. My main goal right now is to be the 2nd highest non-100 level ranked player haha :D
About some improvements that could be done in the arena, the most obvious one is to improve the AI! It's quite easy to win on attack and very difficult for your defense team to achieve something... Another improvement could be to involve your troopers in the arena too, so you could borrow one their toons into the arena like in the normal levels and gain trooper points from it. The last thing, the one who gets the first turn has a big advantage. I would give some stat boost for the one who is not starting, something like +10% boost in defense and MR. Not too difficult to implement, and you could vary the number easily between versions if it needs to be fixed.
A non participants take on pvp
I know the devs were trying to do the right thing by opening this to select forum members. Some of you have made significant contributions to this forum and I think you deserve the opportunity. Others haven't.
Those players that didn't receive an "invite" feel pretty left out at the moment. If this was a week or two away from global launch, I'd say no problem. I doubt we're less than a month or two away though knowing how these guys operate.
Devs, your players have been incredibly patient with you. People are sick of waiting. How many posts have gone up in the last two days telling people to drop them as troopers? How many more are coming? Is this even worth my time to type? Probably not
If I didn't have five months of my time into this game, I'd delete it now. I'm gonna be patient a little longer but you guys (devs) need to deliver. Not for me, but for the game.
Well what can I say. You've been around longer than me. You probably deserve to be a part of it. Congrats on that. myself and others are still bored farming for... Oh yeah, everything's gone. We're being bored right out of the game while watching a few participate in something new. Not the brightest marketing plan in my opinion.
Exactly. if it wasn't for auto play where i can watch tv or play skyrim and push a few buttons It would be deleted here. But since that is still an option I will push play 50 times a day.Quote:

Luck is too much of an important factor in PvP in my opinion.
It's a grest feature in theory but how it is so far doesn't make me want to play too much of it.
Hopefully they get rid off the skill shard per week limit. I don't care for the souls with the how the RNG is at the moment and Skill Shards is all I want to spend my coins on.
I am playing PVP only for souls ( although I haven't got anything good so far) and for skill shards, there is a lack of interest on PVP by my troopers part. Ten of them are in the list but none is playing. Mmm I don't known if this feature will interest everyone.
I would play if i had access to it...
A stat advantage to the team going second was mentioned - I think that's a great idea. Could also give them perfect hits for a round; probably not needed on the players end but would help the AI tremendously
Right - that's what I'm saying. PvP activity slower this week.
I've been playing quite a bit, though right now the time/Ironite required to take on Pizza Friday is not worth the investment for one extra skillshard (don't need souls - just one more Pyro soldier to delete!).
So a couple things that would be useful in this beta
1) Restructure the rewards. Make each of the top five slots incremental. Cause I have little impetus to play as #2 gets the same rewards as #5. Yes I'll rack up Iron coins, but right now there is little to purchase with them with the restrictions. Ironite is the more valuable resource. I'll play here and there for fun or if there is a threat to drop from top 5, but otherwise no real point.
2) Let more people into beta testing! I respect the developers are trying to keep the whiners at bay and make sure they deliver a "wow" product that's as good as it can be. But from recent posts there are a number of players tired of waiting and as long as this is presented as "beta - changes will be made" it would be good to let more people in. New players would get to enjoy PvP - Developers would make money (and maybe hire another programmer) - existing PvP players would get new names to attack as opposed to feeling like an ass attacking the same people over and over
3) Limit revenge sooner rather than later! Though I have to admit - this week there has been a lot less back and forth - possibly correlated to the overall apparent decrease in PvP activity.
Farm, farm and farm more. You'll need A LOT of talismans, upgrades and else to build various temas and defenses.
Wish I had farmed more instead of betting the lotto in LoL trying to get rare souls...
For those wondering here was the haul from getting the eternal rank last week:
Legendary shard - sentinel soulless demon ( not my first second or third...)
3 x gunner / assassin souls - assassin pyro soldier, assassin axis soldier, and assassin undead axis soldier.
I actually didn't have the pyro soldier so I'm happy I received something new. Given the time and resources, these chances are hardly worth it. Looking at this week, pizza friday is over 4K points, bravo sir! I hope you have better luck then I did.
