Arena Etiquette

Arena is a place of individual competition, as such Clan influences should not interfere. Intentionally throwing matches to "boost" another player isn't fair to the other players. From this point forward if a Clan, or even a friendly group of players, that can clearly be seen to be throwing matches will be immediately outed. Note, this doesn't cover using ironite fueled refreshes. This isn't against any rule but still, how can you call yourself Eternal if you do this constantly?

Keep Arena fair, we have enough to worry about with the rampant bugs. We shouldn't have to fight a whole Clan. That's what Clan Wars will be for.

As First Officer and spokeman for Romero's Legion, we wholeheartedly agree and co-sign this with the Blood Brothers.

Over the last year, it's become increasingly common for players running for Eternal to receive "boosts" - usually in the form of 5 rapid losses - from their friends. This is terribly obvious to the more experienced players who keep an eye on the score in the arena.

No more of this nonsense; both of our clans - and I'm sure many other experienced players - have their eyes open.

Fair Arena for all players to prove their individual skills.

Hopefully the Developers will monitor for artificial point gains. By adding Thor Eddie to #1 rank’s prize, they incentivize why a clan would work to promoting someone in their clan to win #1. After a few weeks, a couple players in the same clan could all have a Thor Eddie. Once clan wars goes live, it could be a big advantage. Developers should really rethink the top rewards of Arena... or check the fight log of #1 spot to see if players in their clan lost excessively to them...

We’re not stupid. Thor is the reward for #1. It is not specified it is a one time reward. It may or may not be a reward for other weeks of Arena too. The developers didn’t say if it a one time only reward. So slow your roll...

It's quite simple really. You make it clan policy not to have the whole clan ready to toss 5 wins towards the person running for Eternal every time they show up in the attack list.

This whole thing is a joke. For those foolish enough to agree to have a sense of morality, good luck not getting screwed by those less scrupulous than yourselves. Push comes to shove, most people are going to choose to ask there friends to "help" them get more points if they are close to a goal. Others wouldnt even ask for help and just receive it anyway. How are the people who supposedly agree to this going to be able to control what other people do? They can simply say "hey I didnt ask or want anyone to toss matches for me, but they just did it anyway". How can anyone prove anything?

A) It's a f__king game, so play it.
B) Arena is a dumpster fire anyway, so who cares. It's the worst mode of play in this game and this topic is just one of the reasons.
C) you expect the dev's to care? All this topic does is allow people to waste resources, which is exactly what the dev's want you to do. Please, waste ironite on refreshes, please waste SoW on tossing free wins... what is the downside for the game exactly?

HONOR. INTEGRITY. These are the principles of the clan.

When we hit that "Check In" button, we are upholding the traditions of society's most revered heroes.. who.. clicked buttons. For basically no reason.

If it's possible to happen it will happen regardless any agreement, it can be a guy trolling, a enemy trying his best teams to beat the defense, a friend helping, a clan boosting, a event achievment to be completed, a random guy trying to go down on rank... The game allows for 5 losses and 2 revenges... that said everyone in this game is somehow trying to gain advantage over everyone else and the game itself.

A game design rule says that: If in order to win the game 1 player must attack, and in the gameplay says to "hide", every time the player will attack and ignore what the game says.

So if anyone can solve this is the game developers, if they think it's an exploitable source and unfair player tactics. If they don't think so, it's not with an agreement that something is going to change.
NF alredy has it limited to 5 times anyway, it could be infinite.

Let's see. Get good. I beat you in Gauntlet last cycle, with plenty of toons left, I might add. Took Eternal twice, first was a meta changer and scored 10k points despite not starting my run until a Monday morning. WITHOUT help. Don't talk to me about being good.

Frogs of war did not have 2 players in the top 4.

How would you get a Thor before whoever “Crusader” is (I’m assuming It’s Patrick who placed 2nd place in arena) and before Patrice who was 3rd place in arena?

We're not talking about me, we are talking about you. Clearly you weren't "good enough" to win the (insert prize you want here) so instead of trying harder you chose to complain about "fairness". That's all I'm saying. As far as I'm aware, no one "hacked" the game and played outside of the normal rules of the game. So it all seems fair to me.

Wouldn't mind some official confirmation either way if the Thor rewards are every week, or only for that last one.


Do people really find each other often enough to be able to boost each other through intentional losses? Not sure I've ever seen a clanmate more than once.

It does say that Thor will be a long term goal for players, so I have a feeling he was a one time thing. If not, then they probably would've added him to the Eternal "Ranked Rewards" section in the arena tab, no?

isn't it random generated when getting a new set of opponents in arena? usually i get 2-4 lower teams in my lineup but lately they're all within 100 points of me, all on that list are 2500 and up; also the only time i see easy defenses are during events for large amount of pvp wins also with over 2 years of playing i've only seen someone from top 25 when i've been close and that hasn't been since before these changes to pvp rankingAttachment 7244

Because just like everything else in this game, some things were bugged and certain people gain an advantage if they are willing to pay the cash for it.

Personally, I was able to buy the $1 ironite gamble box more than 5 times. It was the cheapest offering of ironite I've ever seen in the game, so I bought more than $5 worth. How did it happen? Why only for some people? Who knows, but as long as it's putting cash into the company's account, I bet they won't care. And if they do, feel free to give my cash back including taxes and a modest interest, and take the ironite it got from it. I'm betting that won't happen though.

I know the math, I talk to the romero crew all the time. I understand their position (and yours I suppose). I'm just saying that position is 100% wrong. It's just my opinion. Posted a variant of this on Discord - but here for the forum: We tried to do something that we thought would benefit everybody's honorable play; most of us into this game got into it because we're into a band that sings about honor and righteous glory pretty constantly, whose fans are generally awesome people - I've never had a bad experience with a fan at Maiden concert - and who I'd have assumed to be cool people on the whole. Things seem different with Maiden fans on the internet.

Cleaning up the blatant cheating in Arena would have been nice. But I guess our clan will adhere to that code, as will Blood Brothers. And hopefully, some more clans will make the decision to join us.

Personally, I rather proud of having gotten the Eternals that I have, even when offers came in to boost me when one person was being a bit of a twat and spending ironite (!) just to knock me down a couple hundred points when they weren't even in the running for it. I had offers to get me back up over 8,000. I turned them down.

Personally, since my name ain't Barry Bonds, I'm not wanting asterisks next to my medals. I'd rather take a silver, or for that matter 4th or 11th place, and be happy enough with that.

Guess in the world of hiding behind screen names and posturing, the same rules don't apply to when we're all singing along to "Fear of the Dark" at a show. Or playing foosball at the pub afterwards. And that's fine. Those who want to cheat will cheat. Have fun with it.

And have fun with my constantly-changing Christmas defense team; I'm not planning on going for another eternal any time soon. Needed a distraction the last few weeks, and got one.

Cheers to those who decide they'd rather win by building better teams, coming up with interesting synergies, figuring out what works best on defense and what on offense, and likes to clear their lists.

Maybe that just proves my naïveté when it comes to online gaming; this is the only one I've played.

If there are folk who want to stack the deck using the mechanics of the game then this is what will happen is my view. This will never change, it is human nature that some of us always want to win, regardless of what it takes to get there. In some ways I am like this. If I face a team and get beat once in arena I want to try again, but if I get owned again then that is usually it for me unless it was really close. I will never 'drop' a match for anyone or anything except myself - like putting up a weak defence in an event - that is for me and the other people who put up a weak defence. Most of the time that works just fine.

I try not to beat weak teams unless U have a weak team and I get annoyed a bit when folk hit my weak defence with a strong attack team and have a strong defence team - but I get why that happens - they have not asked me to put a weak defence so why should they bother or care...and they are right of course.

It would be great to all be the same when it comes to general rules/etiquette etc but not everyone is the same and again if the game allows such actions then it is the game design that needs to be changes as there is always going to be folks who will do anything to win...and I guess that is their right if the game allows it to happen...and this one does.

I think the whole 'play fair' is a great idea but if there is one (or two or however many) dissenter(s) then it can't work...so this won't work as there is always someone out there, be it one or many who always have to win or at least try what they can to win. never mind those that just like a bit of chaos and a 'get it right up yae' (Scottish banter) vibe going on...we as humans will never change.

Pretty much yeah it happens with a lot of purchases like the black friday tali packs ect it just happened i was able to buy 2 thor packs i still paid the same price for both of em so i dont see the problemm

Thanks for explaining. Yea there’s no problem with that at all. If something is for sale and one chooses to buy it that’s completely up to the individual.

If there is a said limit to how many times something can be purchased, but the game “glitches” allows more to than the limit to be bought then that’s the developer’s “problem” (wink wink) and I’m sure they’re all running around trying to fix it as we speak! 😂

Yeah they aint gonna fix it when it lines there pockets they sadly removed the thor bundle before i could get round to buying my 3rd pack to finish off my frags but ohh well it gives me a boost looks like ill just have to grind the last 550 frags just gives me time to farm enough mats/gold to max awaken him straight away

Sure, the game allows to re-attack and lose. But that's why the topic came up.

See it as an unwritten guideline between the player.

As it is a controvers discussion and some disagree, I decided (with my clan) to keep it fair like stuart said.

I can't follow some argumentation of players, who can't accept fair playing unless unfairness is forbidden. But that's my opinion. I don't want to blame anyone.

No. There was no malice.

I wasn't near the top.. wasn't watching numbers....

It was a week later or so when I was at #2 and roughly 5300pts, when I realize that simply being #2 wasn't enough to get the Silver soul.. you HAD to be #2 AND ALSO hit 6K points. So I extrapolated that #1 must mean you needed #1 AND 8k pts (at that time) to get the Gold soul... I realize i had hit Dicksordian previously when he was a ~8k and my attack dropped him to ~7.9k. That must have meant my attack caused him to not get the Gold soul. In short I had no clue at the time that by beating the #1 team I could possibly cause that user to not get the Gold soul if they were just edging 8k pts.

It was never intentional. It was ONE attack... that's all. I don't watch the number of others... because well.. you just aren't that important to me. The only time I even look at number if if I'm going head to head with someone to place.. and I need to stay ahead of them. but if I ain't in the top three... I really do not give the slightest shit.

And then they posted some silly image defaming me.... so.. yeah... I can see how that would have pissed someone off. So I assumed it was this that spurred the insulting comments int heir "secret" clan image -- which they pay to be a member of (hahahaahah).

That whole "secret society" has some real delusions stuff they cycle among each other. Me.. I'm just playing a game..... NONE of you are important enough for me to have some sort of vendetta or grudge against.

And since that time redacted has proven himself to me to be a liar and dishonorable. Not a big deal.. some people suck. But surely preaching about "honor" is laughable given the source.

I can verify that the attacks from Yup were non-stop. All of a sudden it was a constant barrage of attacks. I thought there was a bug in the game but it just kept happening. He wasn't a contender so I assumed he was just being a troll, or some little kid that didn't get his way....
