Rest in Peace Neil Peart. The Greatest of All Time! Attachment 7434
Before I got into metal; there was Rush. I’m so happy I got to see them on their 40th anniversary (and their last) tour.
Agreed, definitely sad to hear about this. Saw them twice in the early 90's. So influential and such an incredible talent. Very interesting lyricist as well. RIP
I’m shocked
Last time I saw them was the Time Machine tour, where they played the entire Moving Pictures album.
R.I.P. to one of the most influential and well-known drummers of our generation.
Whether you were a fan of Rush or not, everybody knew this guy was the living embodiment of a top-tier drummer.
And lyricist. Here's a song that will be played many times. After Image, written by Peart about the loss of a close colleague:
Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon
I remember
How we talked and drank into the misty dawn
I hear the voices
We ran by the water on the wet summer lawn
I see the footprints
I remember
I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would
Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood
I remember
The shouts of joy, skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I remember
I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood
This whole thing seems like an elaborate joke
We think of them as immortal, as Gods, but sadly they ARE human...
I first heard Rush in the early 80's with All the World's a Stage. Being 10/11 I thought nothing was better than KISS. Then I heard Neil! I was changed forever. Air drummed for hours! One of my favorite bands of all time. Close 1 and 2...
Sad day indeed. RIP....
RIP! Another legend gone... 😢
