They gave a warning several hours before they went into maintainence mode. It was not a total surprise if you were playing the game or logged in before the downtime.

What‘s the latest iOS update? For me it only shows version 5.3 and I am still unable to get into the game.

Same here. iOS update Version 5.3.0 done and game still says version is out of data and needs to be upgraded!
