Does anyone know if the Slothful talisman helps against Blackbeards "50% Chance to take no damage “?
Does that count as an effect trigger?

Nope because Blackbeard is a boss

Nope because Slothful doesn't affect Archer. Slothful is about effect triggger of skills.
The only "antidote" to Archer is power attack of the Mercenary.

The key seems to be lumped in with my Awakening/Clan souls rather than the key souls so I guess it has been mis-categorised somehow, meaning Open All isn't disallowed.

I wasted 3 or 4 keys.

Has anyone had the problem of redeeming a key from the book of souls and it not opening the dungeon?

I have this occasionally but the key always reappears in the book - it's usually just an error synching. Did you spot if your key was definitely used?
