Preserving Souls for new characters

Correct, the character is determined when the soul is tossed into the BOS.

Update:
I have pushed through some more Tier6 sacrifices, turned the vortex around again, sacrificed another alchemist... brought my total of opened souls to around 150 (plus roughly 10 legendaries).... no DdE!
Once i had a stack of 25 souls just flashing blue eyes on me :/

That's not technically true. If you pull a soul and see what character it drops, then force close the game and try again, you'll get the same character. You can try multiple times and verify it.

So how can you pull the new character from those souls? I thinkwe can assume this: When you get a soul, the die is rolled and the number associated with that soul is kept. When you drop the soul in the book, the game looks up what character corresponds with that roll number. When new characters are added, this correspondence is changed. That's the best way to describe that behaviour.

Just dropped 366 Gunner/Assassin souls and pulled 2 Navigators and 1 each of every other 4 or 5 star Eddie except for Doomsday. Oh! Well, that's pretty much exactly what I expected.

It's typical though, I guess I should have took part in the Sacrifice party. Maybe I could have gotten him if I would have had a thousand souls. Who knows, I might get him from my 7 Napalm souls later this week.

I dropped 3 GA rare souls that I pulled from a Level V sacrifice I did yesterday, and out of those I got Doomsday.

Before that I dropped a Legendary soul (from same sacrifice) and 10 Napalm souls, all of which got me the remaining chars to get a level V sacrifice in the first place (I had 2x 4* and 1x 5* chars to sacrifice already).
