Apparently the alchemy talismans don’t seem to protect you from the beast’s stun either

So penance only works against Alex at the start of the battle if it applies at all? I havent tried them yet, forgot I had them. Just too many new talisman to keep up with.

IF the "random enemy" they target happens to be Alex at the start and Alex doesn't have immunity/PI.
