Earn Karma points, help a dummass- Clan edition

Alright, read the clan section, read the ingame spashscreens, still unclear its ranking system. Back last month when I rejoined this game, I joined a clan. My daily contribution/check-in earned me 8 skull points. After a couple weeks, it changed from 8 to 9 skull points. What caused this? Did I get an inclan promotion? Or did I just check in enough to rank up?

Later, the clan leader started rants. “Don’t check in and I kick you” rants. Inspirational fortune-cookie type rants. Raise your mug with me and smite our enemies rants. Got tired of it. So I joined a new clan. And I’m stagnant. I thought for sure I’d raise up to 9 by now but nada.

So am I way off, is my clan leader lazy, do I need a new clan? Help please and thank you.

Nobody knows how the clans work. It's a Beta feature, and the devs have never explained any of it.

That is odd, 9 shouldn't be possible? When you Check-in, two things happen. You get 8 Skulls for Checking in, and then the additional jackpot which is based on how many people in the clan checked in on the previous day. This is an additional 8-12-16-20-24-28-32. I don't know how you would get 9, unless if only two people checked in, which would put you under the threshold to reach the lowest tier, you still get 1 bonus Skull?
