Right now It's happening exactly the opposite for me, I got some chars evolved but when I´m powering up them to 100 and then go out of My Team screen the "7 Deadly Gifts" pop up appears (WTFFF?) and nothing remains powered... I go back to my My Team screen and nothing happened, no power up at all, I have done it several times xD
