Expire (the move) blocking Beneficiel Effects

For the first time in a while, I was running an Assassin Possessed Mine and a Pharaoh Sun Spirit on the same team. Both characters have AoE moves with a chance to block Beneficial Effects.

However, while anyone hit by the PSS can have their beneficial effects blocked, when I attack with the Mine, blocking beneficial effects is always single target (as in, the enemy I target when I use the move).

Is this a bug or is by design?

Been noticing the same thing... searched and found your post. Only ever affects the targeted enemy. It's a shame because this might be a useful ability in PvP.
