I keep thinking I've had that same CoTD as my champion forever, should I change it, are people bored of him? Then I play him a few times and think, nah, he's good.

Oh yea, please do not remove him... I love the CoTD...he is devastating. Have you seen his stats now with the latest update? It is crazy!
In fact, if you swapped his 2 Guardian Talismans for 2 Strength ones so that you have a total of 6, he would now be hitting with a 3,311 ATK on top of his base 1,319...YIKES!

I tried swapping my Wickerman for my Warrior GS who has 6 Strength Talismans and is fully maxed on skill shards, but he didn't seem to be as popular with the troopers, so I brought back the Wickerman.
