It seems like you have to take some damage ( besides revenge).

Had that problem as well. Make sure you fill all of your character slots. Pretty sure you can use a trooper, at least I thought I did. Gotta go in with a full load. Worked for me.

I completed the mission with only my Grim Reaper and Allied Soldier. No troopers. No backup Eddie. Only 2.
Strange mission and a bad description.

I used Grim Reaper Eddie with wickerman and speed of light as backup, Allied Soldier, Corrupt Rescuer and Pharaoh Dog King. Took damage, no troopers, revived Allied Soldier a couple of times and got it okay.
