Might change my champion from Assassin Bomber Boy to either GRE or MCR if people prefer either of those 2?

Cheers mate. I personally have started to prefer Eddies as Troopers, since I can farm the advanced Underworld levels using my own toons and have the Trooper Eddies along for the ride. I am fine with non-Eddies as champions, but then usually farm Kingdom of the Sands on that case for those troopers.

I am in a similar boat these days. I preferred toons earlier on to help me advance past hard/madness levels but since completing the game have moved more towards a preference for Eddies so I can level up my toons rather than relying on xp shards alone.
